The roc held scum man doesn't escape this round.
Slimey mcRedeyes finishes the muddy humanoid.
Guts 5 rolls up on Elgan; bites the treedruid. 6 hp in bite damage; 2 hp in acid damage.
The fish vomits up Guts 6, and it attacks Emrael.
It misses her.
Fishy blasts a line of water through Emrael and Altai.
9d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 4, 3, 2, 6, 6, 4) = 38 bludgeoning damage.
also, d.c.25 for half damage AND, pushed back 10 feet plus 5 feet for every 5 points the save is missed by.
Groups attack/saving throws!!!!!
Altai Iscarni

Reflex 4+7=11. That's a miss by 14, so I take full damage and fly back 20 feet. I'm in T92 now.
My action(s) depend om Emrael's save; if she's managed to stay in melee, I probably shouldn't go for area attacks. ;P

Reflex vs piscine spit 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 1 = 16
Emrael, with a decidely unladylike curse, goes flying backward through the air a total of 15' (Would that put her in N95? I'm not certain which direction the push should be in.
I'll wait for verification of her new location. Also, is she prone? Reflex save to determine, in case that's necessary: 1d20 + 13 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 1 = 15
Just wow. I hope I'm getting those all out of the way now. Is Dok standing close to Emrael? Is that what's happening? ;-)

Pip's fusillade of arrows finish the catfish.
And the remaining gutflumph foes discorporate into steaming piles of viscera. The redeyed thing in the water is now a glossy sheen flowing along the river toward the lake.
And the scum man trapped by the dragonfly turns into watery fecal material, and pours out of the dragonfly's claws onto the ground.
End of combat.

Beldan:
as the battle ends, the black swans all take flight. A single black feather spirals down from the sky, and lands on the rose design of your rapier.
When it does this, the sword quenches, thrums and steams like a new blade plunged into a waterbath.
and when it's done,
add the cold iron quality to your weapon.
You now have a "dead swan" trophy.
dungeonmaster heathy
There's a village, about 10 miles north, on a large river that flows east and west. The road leads there.
There's a cloud of......pink.....something,....pouring down on that village. It doesn't look like smoke; if anything, it looks like....leaves. Very odd; they're very high, up in the sky, for leaves of some sort.
There's two people on the road north, 5 miles ahead of you and headed north. One, a male, has a wide brimmed, squat and conical hat made of reed perhaps; he has two swords at his waist; the other, a female, carries a bright red parasol.
You see another larger town, maybe 20 miles up the river east of this village of the pink cloud; a road north from that town, maybe thirty miles past a couple villages, then a village by the sea side, surrounded by marshes that have been cultivated as rice paddies.
West, into the woods, there's a complex of buildings built up on a largeish squared off hill, probably artificial, which is girded by or made up of great stone;
several buildings, one of which is maybe three stories, make up this building.This is 10 miles, off of a trail and through thick woods. No problem for a ranger;.....
south and east views coming up; need to reperuse my map.
replying just to bring it back into focus. You guys are at the village that had the cloud of pink stuff (cherry blossoms) pouring down upon it.
dungeonmaster heathy
About thirty miles south, there's a seaside town, and two villages along the way there.
Also, a largeish building standing alone along the road;
you can make out foot traffic along this road, it is more common down between the villages and the seaside town.
The river flows northeast, maybe 60 miles where it finds the foot of a mountain chain and splits to run north east and east.....
replying just to bring it back into focus.
Emrael Bladewalker
Emrael, thrown onto her back by the creature's blast of water, is able to get up on her elbows just in time to see the catfish expire followed by the disappearance of the creatures it produced.
Shaking her head, she stands. "What just happened? What was that thing?"
As the adrenalin wears off the bruises and injuries start to announce their presence. "Oh, that hurts... Is one of your party a healer?"
She's at less than 25% after those two blasts.
Elgan Dreadwood
Elgan Brushes at teh tiny spot of sap that the last gut-flumph managed to produce on his bark-covered arms.
Woodland avenger shape ability includes Dmg red 5/slashing. So I only took one point f dmg from the last bite. :)
The druid dwindles down to his normal elf-form, although he remains covered in Bark. Barkskin. Gotta luv it. :)
"Ah' kin he'p yeh wit' dat dere. No prublem." He tells the elvin kensai as he strides over. He examine sher injuries with a careful eye before deciding which of his healing gifts to use.
How hurt are you?

"Whoa, that was weird," comments Beldan, standing up from the rice paddy and examining the rapier.
"Oh, and that too," he adds, looking across the river at the dead catfish and its mobile intestines.

I was just updating Beldan’s character sheet, I realised that we got 50,000gp worth of diamonds after the fight with Svipdag. Beldan got the cool sword and Altai got some spells, so I’m thinking the diamonds should be split between Elgan and Pip (and maybe Altai – not sure on the real value of the spells).

The tanuki appears; looks at Beldan and them, and translates.
They look on in shock, then a trio of old folk, two humans and a woman, come forward.
The tanuki does with the wand again and you can understand them;
"greetings!" an old man speaks; "I am Iwa, and this is Gano and his wife Omma. We are the elders of the village. Thank you for doing that...."
Omma's bad cop apparently; "you folk look like foreigners, except for the elf who's bleeding all over......where you from?"
She goes over to Emrael.
"Why you let a skinny girl do all the fighting...HRUMPH!!!"
starts bandaging her up.
Gano, her husband, looks unperturbed like he's used to it.
Emrael Bladewalker
You know, I probably should have selected the local language as one of my bonus languages. May I do so and what language would it be?
Assuming that I either know the language or have it bestowed upon me by the tanuki's wand, I reply to Omma (in what the player hopes is acceptably respectful language). "Thank you, honored grandmother. They did not ask me to fight. Wield the sword of ancestors is what I do. I have never seen such a large fish before. Are you attacked by such creatures often?"
How hurt are you?
Hmm... Looking at the numbers again, I'm apparently more mathematically challenged than usual. That sound you hear is Dok snickering... <correction>She is not below 25%, as I posted, but right at 40%</correction>
The love taps she took amounted to 65 points of damage.
Emrael Bladewalker
"I, ah, honored grandmother, I am not sure. They are travelers that I encountered on the road this morning. We found common cause to explore strange happenings in the area, so we chose to travel together. It would seem that the catfish might be part of that of which we were warned."
Is there still a great falling of cherry blossoms in this area, or is that farther north?
dungeonmaster heathy
This is the area where the cherry blossoms fell.
You can see great piles of them everywhere, like some snowy pink hell of hay fever.
"Ai,....this is all truly strange indeed.
I've never seen cherryblossoms so late in the season. And this isn't the place for so many of them.
Well,.....do you fishermen want lunch? It'll be a few hours.....rice and catfish....I don't like the looks of those....entrail tentacle horrors though. We won't eat them.
Maybe feed them to the dogs."
Beldan Vale
"If only Tenser were here," Beldan laments again. "Thanks, I'll have some fish and rice. Iwa, other elders, I'm Beldan. The skinny girl said she can fight and she has that fancy sword, so I'm disinclined to try to stop her ... so your rice harvest is bigger than normal you say? That's a good thing, right? Hmmm ... those black swans that just flew off, do you get a lot of them about?"
dungeonmaster heathy
They lead you into one of the small houses.
Wooden walls; thatched grass roofs, paper doors.
Beldan notes that breaking and entering wouldn't require much here;...
Bring fruit and riceballs and sake first;
She says, "the rice seems to have grown two months' worth in a night. and,.....swans;
every once in a while. Never a swarm like that which appeared.
I wonder if it's the end of the world?"
she says nonchalantly.
Iwa gasps at that; Omma's husband is unmoved.
Beldan Vale
“The world’s a big place,” offers Beldan. “I’d say this doesn’t herald the end of it, maybe just this little corner of it ... but probably not right? I mean, there’s sure some weirdness, but your typical signs of the apocalypse are rains of frogs, plagues of locusts, a rampage by the tarrasque, that sort of thing ... not rains of flowers, plagues of swans and rampages by giant catfish, you know?”
Elgan Dreadwood
Never fear my brave elvish Kensai! A couple of more 'luv taps' with Elgan's Wand,... (NM, thats just wrong no matter how I say it) ;P How about a couple of Cure Serious Wounds from a wand? There. That's better.
3d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 7, 3) + 5 = 203d8 + 5 ⇒ (2, 8, 4) + 5 = 19
39 points, and a converted 4th lvl spell for another cure;
3d8 + 14 ⇒ (7, 3, 7) + 14 = 31
70 points total :)
Elgan continues to fuss around the Kensai as the old lady cusses and fusses, apparently unperturbed by her behavior. (Maybe he's seen similar where he;s from?) For a while they circle around Emreal almost as if they are dancing, or chasing each other.
Between the old woman's fussing and a couple of cure's from wand and spell, Emrael looks as good as new.
"Yew say yeh don' git t'ings lahk dat ovehgrown mudcat verah offen? Whut wuud make it cum out now den? An whut dez it haf teh do wit' yer crop growin' so quick-lahk? Sumt'in aint raht heah. Lemme do a quick look-see." And with that the cajun-druid excuses himself out side, where he examines the fallen flower petals, the catfish, the rice paddies, and generally walks around, sticking his feet in the mud and chewing on blades of grass.
K:Nature & Survival: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (12) + 20 = 321d20 + 19 ⇒ (6) + 19 = 25

"Thank you both. I feel much better."
Indeed, even her bruises faded from sight with the last of Elgan's ministrations. And you'd better be careful about waving that thing around while Omma's about, just sayin'.

Her eyes go really squinty;
"There is a great catfish Namazu that lives under the ground. When it wallows in the mud it makes earthquakes.I fear that that thing you slew, and which my granddaughters now fry for thee, may portend future ill....there are dire portants amissssss....."

Elgan patches the kensei up.
Omma makes note of it; says, "honorable miem,.....your powers are great indeed."
Elgan can tell; this is all related to the First World. The world that was a rough draft before the gods carved the final copy of the Oerth......the first world is bleeding into our own. The cherry blossoms......he can sense it in the petals.

Satori San:
You've been summoned to Awajiga by a letter from your old friend Joniun, a retired monk and old adventuring partner.....
Satori San,
It feels like a thousand years since we were young, striving against the unspeakable beast men in the Swamp of Suicides to recover the Splendid Gate of Mercy. I have given over that koto to my daughter long ago......how I miss Kenji's soothing tunes on it.
I don't know if you knew, but he went into the Great Wheel 10 years ago and never returned.....
I cannot explain it, my friend, but.....there is something amiss here in the south of Wa. Something.....more....sinister than the usual amoral daimyos jockeying for decision.
Life has blessed me with four daughters who have all made grand marriages, but old age has cursed me with infirmity. I think you were at least 10 years my junior though? If you are not beset by feebleness as am I, please my old friend; meet me at the Rising Sun Tea House in Awajiga. Tell the House Master, Sonochi who you are; he will send for me.
I can't wait to see you, my old friend.......
Joniun (spelled with the characters "mercy" and "fist".....
(the town is on the map. you can get there, easily enough. You disembark in Hyecho......)

14 cha + 50,000 gp in diamonds=BINGO!!!
It's the way of the world.....
She's smiling back; three or four of them are whispering and giggling.
Then Omma cuts the air in the room in half with the katana that is her scornful glare, and they scuttle off to the back room where food's being prepared.
