Khargol Uzgurn |
"No... though it seems odd, the simplest solution is usually the right one. They likely jump to the bottom and then climb up over there."

Vladimir Ducheski |
"Then I suppose that is what we should do as well."
Alphonse Calderon |
"We have yet to see a real threat in these tunnels, the mites have been giving the kobolds an issue so there is something down here, the deeper we get the more nervous i become. Will you be able to bring that sword to bear properly in these narrow spaces Sugua?"
Durielle Omenstar |
Looking over the edge gives Durielle a brief sense of vertigo, and she feels a tad dizzy. Knowing her divine illness is too blame, she steps back from chasm and places a hand on her head. The feeling passes quickly, and she raises her pale yet flush face to look at the others.
"Who wants to go first?" she asks.
Khargol Uzgurn |
Khargol huffs out a breath, readying his shield as he looks over the edge. "I will lead us down. If anything unfriendly comes out I can probably hold it off decently well until someone us joins me. Though I think Sugua should be second down, skilled with a blade as he is. It might be a good idea to leave Vlad up here for now and have the casters stage their assault from above...or at least come down into the chasm well behind those of us who are staging the physical assault."
Alphonse Calderon |
"That is a sound plan Khargol, Only thing of note is that our magical reserves are rather low, so we may not be able to provide conciderable back up at the moment, I think when we get a chance i should invest in a crossbow perhaps for situations just as this" Alphonse had few concerns about the heights but was a bit wworried that he wouldnt be very useful in confrontations as things move forward, he had his cantrips and some magics remaining and that was it. This day seemed to be a long one and he hoped it would end as well as it began.
Khargol Uzgurn |
To clarify... Khargol is suggesting that Vlad stay behind in case the casters get snuck up on while the others are in the chasm. Then they wouldn't be completely without defense.

Vladimir Ducheski |
"That sounds reasonable, Khargol. You then Sugua go first and I will be the rear guard. Once the two of you are down, the less martially inclined will go down, then I will follow."
DM Tuyena |
A few moments after Khargol slides down into the chasm and Sugua begins to lower himself as well, a sound begins to emanate from the opening in the northern chasm. Here on eye level with the passage, Khargol can see clearly into it as an enormous insect rushes out to him.
Monster Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Alphonse: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Clousuk: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Donovan: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Durielle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Gonzo: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Khargol: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Sugua: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Vladimir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Sugua, Gonzo, and Clousuk may act. Then the monster, and then the party.
Looking at the giant insect you can see its clearly worm like, and atleast 20 feet long, on its hind quarters are too large appendages. It has several legs, probably close to fifty or more. It looks like a strange centipede.
Sugua Bran't |
Get rekt Manylegs
Sugua slides down the chasm, to the left of Khargol and swings his flaming blade upwards at the giant bug trying to draw its attention.
Greatsword Slash: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Greatsword Slash Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 1d4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 + (4) = 20
Formatted it again
Gonzo the Magnificent |
Letting out a soft whistle as he witnesses this giant vermin crawl upon them, "Well if it isn't a whiptail; a nasty critter that is," He speculates as Sugua slides down the ledge.
"Be mindful of its tail, it'll knock you off right off your feet," He turns to Durielle, and motions at the area he is standing at, "As long as you don't pass any closer than this spot, you should be just out of reach of its tail, allowing you to safely cast spells or fire your bow." He switches his attention back and forth between Durielle and Alphonse as he says this. Then once Sugua lands at the bottom of the chasm, he snaps his fingers into a pointed finger, pointed at Sugua's greatsword, which erupts into flames.
"That should help a bit, I'll be raining some fire down on it soon enough, but first I must prepare myself. You can never be too safe," He exclaims as he pilfers around for a scroll.
Next round he will use a scroll of Shield, then take a 5 foot shift to the ledge.
Sugua Bran't |
Sugua's body attempts to ward off the effect
Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Sugua bites back the strike but slashes at the creatures once again.
Studied Greatsword Slash: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 262d6 + 7 + 1d4 ⇒ (2, 6) + 7 + (2) = 17
Sugua is surprisingly quiet, maybe because they were in a tunnel.
Donovan of Restov |
You rang?
Alphonse Calderon |
Alphonse seeing the giant centipede worries for his companions down in that pit, and seeing Sugua take that bite worries him further. He sets in and focuses, with his magic reserves low he will need to be creative with their uses. Aiming for the far side of the creature he directs his magics to make sound from nothing and try to scare or distract the sounds of birds as he hopes it still has the insect instincts that birds are predictors
my intent here is to cast ghost sounds on the far side of the centipede to distract it in some way. this is on the proviso that our DM lets me use the spell a bit past its literal description, if we are working off description only then im ok with changing my action but i thought being creative when im low on spells would be a good idea
Vladimir Ducheski |
Not a lot of options given where everyone is.
Vladimir takes a shot at the centipede with his bow.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 2
Khargol Uzgurn |
"Don't think flanking is an option here!" Khargol says with displeasure, hacking downward at the centipede's head with his longsword, keeping his shield at the ready as he does.
Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Longsword Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Critical Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Critical Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Woohoo!
Clousuk Sootscale |
Taking aim, Clousuk attempts to squeeze a shot past his allies at the centipede. Whether he misses or not, he scrambles to load another bolt.
"Clousuk says Clousuk, squash nasty mite pet!"
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Arcane Strike Crossbow Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
I think Clousuk will have to switch places with someone to get a clear shot at it, so it has soft cover right now. But he's technically firing into a melee, so he basically has zero chances of hitting at this point :/
Alphonse Calderon |
fair enough sir, then replace ghost sound with a casting of ray of frost, gunna save my last spell for just in casy stuff i tihnk
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
1d3 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Donovan of Restov |
Donovan channels healing energy to keep the fighters on their feet.
Channel Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Durielle Omenstar |
Durille's widen as the giant arthropod appears and battle is engaged.
Look at the size of...!
Only frozen in shock for a moment, she draws her bow and tries to find a soft spot on the creature's shell.
Regular Arrow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Khargol Uzgurn |
Yikes...that's definitely unconscious for Sugua, isn't it? Tuyena, how's this thing looking? I know we haven't been hurting it as bad, but we've still been hurting it. How damaged does it look to be?
"We've got to bring it down quickly!" Khargol shouts, swinging his sword at the beast again.
Longsword Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Longsword Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Sugua Bran't |
He has Diehard; Hrmm going unconscious might be great but it really depends on how hurt it seems from the strikes and attacks. At the same time Likely no one else can take a strike from thing. I basically go last anyway so this will depend on what you all do. This will be if it seems like it is hurt.
Sugua's body once again attempts to fight off whatever effect the titan tries to bleed into his form.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
He wobbled by all accounts a strike like that should have killed a man but he stood, Flaming blade in hand heaving greatly. He looked to Khargol, then looked to the Centipede and a slight smile peaked through with his tusks. He gripped his Blade and slashed at it once again.
Studied Greatsword Slash: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 262d6 + 7 + 1d4 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 + (4) = 15
Sugua Bran't |
Originally I was going to use my naginata but forgot I dont have a move action.. also He didnt say the flames werent working so I ASSUME they are doing better, especially since it seems to have DR. Im more worried that likely this creature isnt going to just stop.
DM Tuyena |
If you got stabbed in the stomach with a sword, but it missed vital areas, you'd be decently hurt. Definitely seriously injured; not dying.
Also I need a caster level check from you Alphonse. And Sugua you're pretty positive your fire is doing no damage at this point.
