Radiant slips out of the brunt of the lightning bolt just in time, seeing the drow abominations he vanishes from sight, beginning a mslal dance that rises him further into the air.
Rahab charges in closer to the driders as Gorum brings the orc divine favoritism. Menas sends a beam of pure positive energy into the Drider.
Weird, driders don't have light blindness.
Will Save DC 21: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
The blinding positive energy crumples the drider in a single blow of force. The spider legs curl in on itself in it's death throes.
Grim and Misfortune slog onwards, closer to the threat.

If nothing from Elliot by tomorrow evening I will DMPC Elliot.
GM Tyranius

Elliot gently floats towards the driders as he draws a pair of dwarven waraxes. A glimmer of hope in using them to cleave through drow shines in his eyes.
The remaining driders sends a small wave of magical missiles into the oncoming barbarian.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 4, 3) + 3 = 12
The missiles cascade into Grim one by one as they crack his rib.

"DIE, INSECT!" froths Rahab as he charges into the creature's side, slamming into it.

GM Tyranius

Menas' observations are indeed correct. The group is quite skilled as the Drider collapses under the assault.
Most of the capstone is damaged by whatever magic the drow used to break open the pyramid. The fountain of light is visible through a hole breaching its tunnel, and there is an opening in the “floor” that “descends” about 20 feet
Grim Dougal
|
Grim rifles through the driders belongings, trying to work out what their purpose(s) may have been.
Menas Redwald
|
Menas looks in the direction of the pyramid.
"I am eager to slay more of the hated Drow and their foul creatures. Let's take what we can from this spider demons and use it against the rest of the enemies we face."
He then helps Grim loot the Driders, hoping to find some interesting, anti-drow, items.
GM Tyranius
|
The Driders carried little in the way of equipment.
- Mwk Heavy Mace (2)
- Mwk Composite Longbow (+2 Str) (2)
- Arrows (4)
Rahab Seven-Blades
|
Rahab frowns. "Is that what they are called? I thought these were just mutated elves, lackeys of the duegar." He scowls and points towards the inverted pyramid. "If we are to purge the pyramid of it's corruption, we must go on up. And then we can deal with these... Drow, as you call them."
Grim Dougal
|
"Hmm no adventuring gear, not much of anything, they must be near their base or they'd have more things with them. Good news is that there must be more of these things!" Grim smiles at Rahab.
Onward!
GM Tyranius
|
You ascend into the pyramid through the broken capstone. The room on the middle level has two stone doors and walls, with a few messages written in Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs. Both doors to the south are open.
Southwest room.
This room has hieroglyphs covering the middle third of the room, giving clearer information about the life of Aram-Hul and the nature of the linked pyramids. There is a passage in the “floor” going “down” 20 feet.
Sotheast room.
This room looks exactly like it's counterpart to the west.
Menas Redwald
|
Menas looks to the west passage, then to the east.
"Anyone have any idea which one we should follow? Maybe there are some more tracks for one you that is skilled in such a task."
How many minutes has it been since the start of the last combat? Invisibility purge will be up for 7min since then. The rest of my buffs are 70min, so they should be mostly fine.
Rahab Seven-Blades
|
Rahab shrugs and boldly steps into the western room.
I ask for my companions, not for myself as I am not a knowledgeable person. But are there any checks, or is there anything to be gleaned from the hieroglyphs?
GM Tyranius
|
@ Rahab- Read magic and knowledge of Ancient Osiriani or comprehend languages
@Menas- You guys entered straight away so the purge should still be active.
Radiant
|
I have always heard that these pyramids can be full of traps. Best let me lead. Radiand warns. If no one can read the strange writings Radiant will pull his wand of Comprehand Languages and use it on himself.
Rahab Seven-Blades
|
Rahab grunts impatiently, but nonetheless waits for information to be made clear.
GM Tyranius
|
Radiant uses the magic from his wand and a bit of the story becomes clearer. The text is a coded message talking about the greatness of Aram-Hul and hinting at the nature of the magic contained here and its relation to the “pyramid in the sand” (presumably what is now called the Tilted Pyramid). Though it is still quite difficult to understand.
Grim Dougal
|
"Radiant, want to check these doors?"
Check for traps, pop doors :)
GM Tyranius
|
The Doors (Link) are already open and there is a pit on either side.
Grim Dougal
|
Hmm righto, just felt like a bit of a dead floor - onward then. Let's go down the left hole
Radiant
|
Radiant moves into the first of the doors, black blade poised and senses open. He searches it before moving to the second.
Door 1 Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (10) + 17 = 27
Door 2 Perception: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (14) + 17 = 31
Rahab Seven-Blades
|
AFter inspecting the rooms to the best of his ability, Rahab chooses to move on further up the shaft.
My perception isn't great, but I'll look about for anything else of interest. If there is nothing, onward!
GM Tyranius
|
Ah nevermind. You are correct Grim. This book is laid out very oddly. First glance makes it seem as if what is about to happen occurs below the shaft but later it seems to happen in the room. Both doors are already open though regardless.
Listening carefully Radiant isn't able to hear much of anything over the drowning noise of the rushing light fountain spilling from the pyramid. The group flips a 2 sided coin and chooses the left door.
Hieroglyphs similar to those on the outside of the pyramid line the middle third of the walls of this room. grim leads the way down the dark hallway and comes face to face with a male Drow guard blocking his path. Just behind him in the room are a pair of female drow researchers. The malevolent eyes all glare out from the pitch darkness. one of the females speaks low into the darkness.
Elliot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Drow Guard: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Drow researchers: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Backing into a corner, the drow researchers begin to cast as small utterings and rapid hand signals flash through the darkness. One drow seems to be casting a very lengthy spell as the other has magical missiles spring forth and slam into Grim.
Magic Missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) + 3 = 6
A trio of missiles rockets past the guard and into the barbarian.

Still flying, and now holding his banner (+1 to hit and damage) radiant springs in, attacks red, and springs back out.

GM Tyranius
|
Grim charges down the hallway and sicks his shoulder into the drow's chest, lurching him back into the room.
Radiant springs down the hallway and leaps back as he strikes out at the Drow guard, cutting the dark elf's arm. Thick red blood mixes as a shark contrast against the gray flesh.
Menas. I am a bit confused by your roll. What is allowing the reroll of 1's and where is the +27 damage coming from?
Edit: Nvm I see what you did. the 27 is from what was left above and just rerolled the single 1.
Menas lets loose a wave of burning energy that scorches the drow's flesh like a wave of intense fire.
Red Will Save DC 19: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Yellow Will Save DC 19: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
Green Will Save DC 19: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
One of the researchers collapses from the immense pain as she gasps for breath, soon falling still.
The drow guards face pales as the mistress falls. He stabs back at Grim to try and push through.

Rahab, furious that once again he is late to the fight, stomps on down the corridor. "FIGHT ME YOU DARK-SKINNED ELVES! I WILL REND YOUR FLESH ASUNDER!"
Double move, provoking from Red.
GM Tyranius
|
@Grim- Gotacha.
@Menas- No problem. It just took me a second to understand what was going on.
And Elliot has not posted in a month as well. I will give a tiny bit more but I have lost on average 1 per table in PFS since the announcement of 2.0. Though only games that were currently running. Plus season 1 and with this group, you guys will be quite alright with 4.
Grim Dougal

Dropping players was always a hassle, it's lost GMs that I worry about :p
Radiant
|
As a general rant I have to say I do not understand dropping without a word in PBPs. I can understand if something comes up you might need to drop. But then you send a PM to the GM explaining what happened and that you are leaving and then you send a quick note to the group in discussion as well. Anything less seems quite rude to me.

Rahab rushes through the room and the drow guards blade glints out from the darkness.

The rapier stabs into the orc's leg, to try and hobble him from going further.
Due to Mena's destructive wave of positive energy the researcher loses her spell and steps back against the wall, sending more magical missiles screaming through the room. Each one finds a different approach as they cascade around the drow guard and into Grim.

Grim looks quite satisfied with the handiwork.
"Looks like we're getting a bit worn and torn, Holy man, got a wave or so of healing?" he enquires of Menas.
Rahab Seven-Blades

"WHY DO YOU TEST ME WITH SUCH UNWORTHY OPPONENTS, BARELY FIT TO SATISFY MY COMPANION'S BLADES? MY LORD IN IRON, DOES MY SERVICE DISPLEASE YOU?" howls Rahab, seemingly flabbergasted by the lack of resilience of their ennemies as he himself pulls out a wand of curative magic.
