Itra Javek |
Itra comes hurrying out of the ruins. "Everyone alright? Wish I coulda stayed in that thing... talk about powerful fists! Anyway, what else have we got? More of them?"
As she speaks, she takes position behind a tent, holding her spade at the ready. Double moved.
Agraic |
The half-elf draws his blade and shield, backing up so that he's better covered by Rani's Guisarme of Gimping.
Holding attack for *if* Blue gets to him.
Miyako_Okori |

And puts another bolt into the ground. Has Tad created 'difficult terrain' with all these bolts he's put in the ground? : P
GM Tektite |
Everyone readies themselves as Miyako puts an arrow into an ape man and Tad misses.
The chara-ku rush the party, dodging Rani's polearm!

Miyako_Okori |
I think we got it! :)
GM Tektite |
Almost....
Itra slashes the last chara-ku, nearly dropping it!
Rani brings his guisarme donw on the creature, ending it quickly!
A ragged, much more muted cheer goes up from the camp’s exhausted defenders. The cheer is short-lived, however; almost immediately the guards in the tower sound their horns, and pointing at the cliff that looms over the south end of the dig!
Turning, you see two more chara-ku scrambling down the cliffside behind you!
You had five rounds of prep before these show up, so feel free to roll readies along with a normal round of actions.
Party up!
Itra Javek |
Itra prepares to swing her weapon at the first ape-man that comes near!

The sword and board fighter moves under the cliff a bit to provide some support for Rani's Glaive of Gimping attack, holding his blade at the ready to come down like an executioner's axe on the chara-ku descending the cliff-face between him and the investigator.
Thanks, that cleaned up nicely! Wish there was more damage, but hey, every little bit helps, right?
Rani of Botosani |
Readied Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Normal Trip: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
LOL!!!
A bit overeager after killing the last chara-ku, Rani swings his blades wildly, not even coming close to the two creatures advancing towards him. He begins laughing and screaming out in a voice tinged with hysteria: "It is Nethys! Nethys is speaking to me! He is showing me that life is duality! Success cannot succeed without failure!"
Thadeus "Tad" Underfoot |
Tad moves 10' down then over (avoiding AOO) nimbly ducking past Rani's flailing trip attempt to engage the red charaku with his rapier.

Agraic |

Seriously? Guy Fleegman, atcher service! Also, do we add the +4 to our hit, or is it -4 AC? Please forgive my newbieness, never had this happen before, either!
Agraic does his part to try and help the party hit the remaining monkeyman by emulating Rani's method of waving the bastard sword around dangerously!
GM Tektite |
The entire party converges on the prone ape man, destroying him! Looking up you see more chara-ku on the cliff, but most of the charau-ka that attempt to climb down fall, resulting in a chaotic rain of shrieking ape-men. Around you, small knots of Pathfinders and camp workers fight scattered groups of charau-ku, but it is obvious the battle has been won.
With the charau-ka and their champion defeated, the remnants of the ape-men flee back into the jungle, giving the excavation site its first relative peace in 10 months. With most of the camp either wounded or sick, Dias fears she may have to bury the site and take the key with her back to Absalom. Regardless, she thanks the party profusely
for yourtimely help, promised to report to her venturecaptain in Absalom that the success at Azlant Ridge was due in no small part to the efforts of the party.
Should any of the Aspis agents survive the battle, Dias thanks them and then informs them they have 1 hour to rest and then vacate her camp before she orders her Pathfinders to flay the skin from their bones. The Aspis grumble about it, but leave as they were told to.
Over the next several days, Dias guides the camp through packing and loading the caravan wagons to head for the coast and catch a vessel bound for Absalom. She packs away the key and the monolith control device and has the camp workers bury all signs of their dig, including triggering a rock fall to rebury the door to the Azlanti complex.
That concludes Before the Dawn- Rescue at Azlant Ridge! Thanks for playing. I hope everyone enjoyed this two-parter.
Miyako_Okori |
@Agraic: It's -4 to the prone creature's AC, but people often just add 4 to their attack rolls. Just make sure to mention it when you do the latter.
Miyako picks up her longbow when the last chara-ku goes down. "We did it, woohoo!"
She helps Dias with her preparations during the days that follow the battle.
Once everyone's back in Absalom, Miyako waves her comrades goodbye. "It's been fun working with you! I hope we'll see each other again some time!"
Rani of Botosani |
Rani spends the rest of the time at the dig site trying to learn as much as he can about what Azlant had buried here and why they traveled so far from home. After all, their island home was located over a thousand miles northwest of their current location. Even though his inquiries do not reveal anything particularly new, the Garundi man has the time of his life studying the remnants of an ancient, nearly-forgotten civilization.
Rani bows low to Miyako, "It has been an honor for myself as well, Miss Okori. May our paths cross again soon!"
Peperic Timarson |
As the group is ready to split up, Peperic says, "May the light of the sword-mistress shine upon you all. If you have need of my sword, please don't hesitate to call."
Agraic |
"Society better keep a very close eye on the things we learned and acquired here today. Last thing we need is to come back here and have to deal with more of those Aspis folks."
After a bit he'll pause and consider.
"If'n y' need me out there, send me a mail through the Grand Lodge, can't guarantee where they'll send me next, but it's the thing I do."
Though not nearly as well as either Rani, Itra, Miyako, Tad, or Peperic...
Itra Javek |
Itra smiles at Agraic as if sensing his thoughts, or perhaps there's simply a note of hesitation in his voice. "You'll make a fine Pathfinder, Agraic. Just gotta stay on your toes and keep practicing. I can show you some drills on the way back, if you'd like."
Agraic |
"Wouldn't mind it. Might help highlight why folks are beasts on the battlefield, maybe bring back some memory. So yes, let's do that."
The fighter checks over his gear thoughtfully. "Almost wondering if I should go lighter on the armor, now that I have some money to spend on equipment."
Thadeus "Tad" Underfoot |
Tad waves a cheerful goodbye to all his companions on this most memorable adventure.
"Go n-eírí an bóthar leat. Go raibh an ghaoth a bheith i gcónaí ag do chúl agus féadfaidh an ghrian Shine te ar d'aghaidh."
"It would be my pleasure to meet you all again soon. Keep an eye out for me at the lodge here in Absalom. I'm off to meet a merchant whose just arrived from Alkenstar...cheerio!"
