Playing the Psionics adventure by Dreamscarred Press

I'm considering dipping my toes into gming play by post, as well as into Dreamscarred Press's psionics by running The Opened Mind. This is an all-psionic adventure for four players, using pregen characters. We would play with the characters exactly as written, except that players would be allowed to change the gender of their character, and change the name slightly to go with this. I'm looking mostly for other players who are new to psionics, but perhaps one player already familiar with the rules would be good. If interested, please tell me your level of familiarity with psionics. Owning a copy of the psionics book would be good, but I believe most of the information is available on the internet. I will be taking the first four players to reply who I as a GM am enthusiastic about. After four players are chosen, we will discuss which pregen for which player.

Oops, I left out some relevant information. The adventure is a short adventure, and the characters are at level 1.

Hai.

No familiarity whatsoever except for the Aegis class.

Since we have played together, if you want it, you're in, Scavion.

I'd definitely be interested! I've read through the psionics rules before, but have never had the chance to actually play with them.

OK, Dragonflyer, I'll PM you a link to the pregen characters.

We now have two accepted players who are relatively new to psionics. Still looking for either one more newby to psionics and one experienced player or two more players who are new to psionics.

Hello!

I've never looked at Psionics in Pathfinder, since that opens the door for 3PP materials, and means more system for me to learn.

However, I played in both 3.0 and 3.5, so if they did the Psionics rules like the rest of Pathfinder, it wouldn't take me long to get acquainted with 'em.

Yeah, I know what you mean about third party stuff, but it seems that if you're going to go with third party, Dreamscarred Press is solid. I've noticed many times that if GMs allow any third party, they allow DSP stuff.

Welcome aboard. I think you'll find that the psionics rules are just the natural port over from the 3.5 stuff.

Liberty's Edge

I'm interested... but I'm not experienced. I've got Psionics Unleashed, Psionics Expanded, and Psionics Augmented. (I don't have Ultimate, but I think that those three books cover most of what's in Ultimate.)

I've read some of Unleashed, and have a basic idea about what's going on, but I've not read it in depth, and haven't played with the system before.

OK, there's our 4 players. Recruitment is now closed.

Here's a link to a pdf that contains the characters:

Let me know which character(s) you are each interested in playing, and then I will do my best to keep everyone's wishes in mind and assign characters.

Liberty's Edge

Here's my preference order:

1. Neroli
2. Edrielle
3. Xerdilac
4. Arris

Following that format:

1. Xerdiliac
2. Edrielle
3. Arris
4. Neroli

I'm going to give Dragonflyer another day or so before looking for a replacement.

Not a word from Dragonflyer since Thursday, so I'm reopening recruitment. Anyone else interested?

Dot, Dot and Dotty.

I'd be interested in being one of these superior minds!

Oh, forgot premade preference:
1. Arris
2. Edrielle
3. Neroli
4. Xerdillac

There we go; so long as Scavion is cool with Arris.

If not, and they'd rather Xerdillac, I'll gladly trade.

OK, final characters:
Scavion as Arris
rknop as Neroli
YttriumDervish as Xerdillac
EmissaryOfTheNorth as Edrielle

Go ahead and take a few days to read over your character's abilities and make an alias. I would suggest a format like 'Arris by Scavion' for the alias, but as long as the character's name is prominent, I'm not going to be picky. When your alias is made, please dot into the gameplay thread. Please dot in by Friday of this week.

I should have remembered to say, no need to fill out the profile, since I have the same sheet I gave you.

I'd recommend putting # of powers/power points remaining and your inventories there if anything. Since pretty much those will be the only altering things unless we level up during the adventure.

Guys, please get you aliases set up and post once in the gameplay thread in the next day or so. I would like to start the adventure this weekend.

If you don't own the psionic book or books, this seems to be a good free online source.

Haven't forgotten, just been reading.

It might also behoove us to put the text of our powers in there, since most of us probably won't remember what they do for a while.

OK, Xerdilac, now just please post in the gameplay thread. That will also add this to your list of campaigns, so you can easily see when there are updates.

I'm expecting that we will all need to help each other out with how the psionic stuff works. That's why we're doing a published level 1 adventure with pregens. If we have fun, I may homebrew something to keep playing with the same group, or try to convert something of Paizo's to psionics.

Hey guys, sorry about the delay. The thread fell off my radar, since it's not in my "Campaigns" tab yet. Here's my alias. About to dot the Gameplay thread.

We lost the player of Xerdillac, so I'm looking for one more player to join us. The adventure is about to start to get into the good stuff. No experience with Psionics is required, just a willingness to learn.

One last try to get a replacement player. Anyone interested?

I'd be interested, just not a fan of using pregen characters. I have a vitalist I want to play, but it's a dromite based around healing.

A solution might be to keep just the name of the pregen and maybe the initial stats used (not counting the racial stat adjustments) with all else being fair game to change? Maybe also keep the equipment or gold too? Just speaking as someone who likes seeing PF psionics succeed on these message-boards. ;)
