James shot bounces off of the far wall before turning what was thought a miss into a hit. Ivar steps up and lands two blows though it is clear the damage is reduced.
Negative Energy Damage no save: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6
The ghost groans out a warning before a spectral miasma emeniates from its body filling the area and damaging each of the party memebers. Further it makes it harder to see or attack the ghost. Same concealment as Obscuring Mist. "It appears you cadavers will be subjects for experiments."
As it speaks it flies straight up threw the ceiling leaving your hallway filled with the spectral miasma. Most of you are experienced enough to know that you will continue to take damage in the hallway and that this effect will dissipate in one minute.
You can avoid this by going back to the door you came in or forward to either of the other doors or the stairs.
Ghost is gone but keeping you in combat until out of the efect.
That was a free action and withdrawl by the ghost so no AOO.

Vedia Merenda |

"Forward rather than retreat I think, yes?" Vedia is ready to move.

Xandar Coulsong |

"I concur let's move ahead and get out of this miasma or whatever it is." Xandar says stoping his performance and getting behind James as he looks over the door for traps.

GM Red Box |

The party quickly rushes forward James scans the door and does not notice a trap and they rush out of the miazma.
This simple kitchen shows signs of long neglect. A pair of stoves stand cold on the north side of the room between tall shelves stacked with jars and dishes. Along the west wall, a wide sink brims with pale mold. The center of the room contains a butcher’s table, above which hangs an assortment of knives, cleavers, and pans. An odd-shaped tub protrudes from the southwestern corner of the room.
The miazma is slowly dissipating but in this room you are out of danger from it.

Xandar Coulsong |

While they are waiting for the miasma to dissipating, Xandar will take a look around the kitchen. Look for signs of recent use and/or hidden objects. "Might aswell have a look around while we wait for the magic to run it's course out there."
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

Vedia Merenda |

"Careful of the mold. Remeber what happened last time we dealt with it. Blech for days." Vedia is recalling the brown old in the cave in Torch that was so long ago.

GM Red Box |

Xandar you manage to spot what James did not. The stove is a trap and would belch out fire like a dragon if touched. The mold itself appears harmless.
As the cloud disperses the group moves to the northern room and finds the door untrapped and unlocked.
Dust-covered shelves crammed with all manner of books and scrolls line the walls of this enormous curving library. A large desk, its top cluttered with scrolls and papers, sits at the western end of the room. A metal door leads to the south, while north of it a second door stands slightly ajar, revealing what appears to be a reading nook.
Looking around you find one book of some value, it is Furkas early spellbook that is no longer in use by the ghost. It contains all cantrips as well as:
2nd—detect thoughts (DC 16), fog cloud, mirror image,
see invisibility, web (DC 16)
1st—identify, mage armor, magic missile, shield, technomancyTG
Map is updated, where too next?

Xandar Coulsong |

"Well I certainly won't be using that for cooking, unless some of you like black and burnt food." Xandar says stepping away from the stove to avoid accidentially setting it off. "Perhaps it will be a good idea to get back to explorering, the miasma seems to have lost it's effect at last" he says stepping back out into the hallway. "Should we head upstairs and have a look around?"

Vedia Merenda |

Vedia snatches up the spellbook with glee. "More spells. Wonderful." She quickly tucks it away for review, and scribing later. "We should see if we can find his other books."
She nods to Xander. "Upstairs sounds good."

GM Red Box |

The trip up the stairs is uneventful and fortunately there are not traps for once. At the top of the stairs there is another set of stairs and two doors set at forty five degree angles. Finding no traps again James leds them into the next area which is a very cramped hallway with lots of doors. Using the same perception for all of this. IN this this hallway James does find one trap.
DC25 to Disable. Knowing you are +20+1d6 I am going to give it to you.
With some work he disables a trap which would have sprayed steam on your entire group.
The doors around this hallway are slightly ajar and you can tell that they were once crew quarters. The uncovered rooms. You also notice there is come movement. Some sort of creatures are advancing nosily on the party. Grasping arms emerge from a tangled cluster of debris and mechanical parts. A metal skull hovers above the clanging mess.
These are Gearghosts. An undead spirit that is good at setting traps which fits right in in this place.
They are self healing.
They could probably reset the trap James disabled very quickly.

"At least we can fight these normally, let me sing a tune for you and get the show going." he says beginning to hum a song to allow his magic to inspire his comrades them all.

James Quintik |

James spends a swift action studying the green one, and then takes a few shots at it with his pistol.

I made them too big on the map. Adjusted.
Augar advances and crashes his hammer into the red gearshost. Your currently next to red so you hit that one.
James takes a moment to study the green target and pulls the trigger twice, both shots connecting easily.
Ivar also attacks and connects with a heavy strike on the green gearshost.
Shooting over Augar's shoulder Vedia connects with an icy projectile.

Red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Red: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
The two damaged gearghosts fight back ineffectively unable to get past the armor of Augar and Ivar.
The third ghost moves to the floor behind the green and starts to reset the trap that James had deactivated. It is a little complicated but you only have seconds to stop it!

[ooc] "Does this building we're in count as "ground"?"
I would say no for two reasons. Ground implies the actual ground not something sitting on the ground. Your also on the 2nd floor now so that makes it even less likely to count as ground. [/oos]
Both of Augars attacks miss but Ivar catches his target with a vicious headbut. James first shot is enough to dispatch the green ghost. His second hits blue as it resets the trap. Vedia also manages to clip blue with a chunk of ice.
Attack Augar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

The red gearghost connects with one attack on Augar but, lets face it, they are not effective combatants. The blue ghost finishes resetting the trap and looks poised to trigger it at his next opportunity.

I think in regrads to earth mastery I would say that the ground is direct contract with earth. However earth glide might in some cases work on walls since it says they can pass through any kind of stone, dirt and other types of earth.

Before they died and became gearghosts, the burgling servants hid their stash of gold leaf stripped from furniture, valuable silverware, crystal goblets, and other valuables looted from the tower in these rooms. In all, there is a total of 1,400 gp valuable portable items.
There is one remaining door that you open without issue.
F10. Supply Closet
This room is filled with crates and boxes, the walls covered with shelving holding linens, cleaning supplies, and other mundane tools. A strange cocoonlike object made of tightly wound strips of wire and metal ribbons is affixed to the highest shelf on the curving northern wall. The metal cocoon, on the other hand, is quite interesting.
Approximately the size of a human’s fist but looks to weigh only half a pound,

The stairs to the north descend to area, while those to the west ascend. The doors are labeled, see map.
