Couldn't get it on my home computer, but I was able to check it out at work.
I think Enduring Stoicism works best for my character. Admittedly this means he'll be extremely hard to frighten but he certainly has other weaknesses.
TreasureFox
Well, I'm in a pickle. I have two potential characters available. One I really want to play and fits the theme very well, the other fits our group much better.
The character I really want to play is a TN female changeling spiritualist (Fractured Mind) named Nova. She was nothing more than a commoner before the events leading up to Strange Aeons. However, she has developed an insanity causing her personality to split in two and manifest as a phantom. Nova herself is loving and caring, but her phantom is an aggressive and psychotic hunter. They call each other Witch and Beast. When the phantom is locked inside her mind, she is much more of a balance between the two. She would work as an off-healer and a buffer.
The character that fits the established group so far is a NG human named Lini. Her regular personality would make one believe that she is incredibly shy, but a sweetheart. This all changes when she is faced with a flight-or-fight situation, as she loses all sanity to kill or be killed. I think she would fit in the group better since we've got casters already, but could use someone in the front.
Drafton Upton
Baha who?: Sorry to see you bow out, but I understand such things. Limits are there for a reason after all.
TreasureFox: Those are both interesting character designs. I think there can never be too many casters in a party. Never seen a spiritualist before and I like the idea you really want to play more anyway.
I say go with the changeling.
GM Faelyn
I'm afraid I'm going to have to bow out, I've realized I am about at my limit in terms of play-by-post games right now.
A player in another game with me is interested in playing in this AP so I have referred them here, I hope that's alright.
I understand, Baha. Would you mind shooting me a link with the player's info? I like to get an idea of the player before I offer a special invite.
TreasureFox, I agree that you should play whatever character you want to play the most! Don't worry about party balance, I'm going to recruit more folks before the game starts up unless we already have five PCs. I'll probably try to go with 5-6 players like our other game. Fun is more important than balance, I'll make sure you all don't get eaten... Or will I?

That is quite alright! I think that fits quite well with your concept and think it would be awesome to see the halfling being the most fearless.
Thanks GM and Draft for your support. I'll have Nova ready within a day or two.
Of course! Looking forward to seeing her! Another thing to remember is that you'll have Carter's summons/eidolon to help with things!
The Open Gate
I am really looking forward to the conversations between these two...
Also I have the same problem with multiple states. Gate has three different physical forms. If you put the different states in spoilers, it makes things easier.

Greetings and Salutations. I'm excited to be joining you and look forward to getting started. I'm debating numerous ideas including a human monk of the empty hand who uses a shovel...yes, a shovel, inspired by Mystery Men's the Shoveler. I'm also considering a half-orc barbarian (breaker archetype)/oracle (wrecker curse) who uses just about any item he can as a weapon and breaks everything he touches. I have a dhampir cruoromancer bloodmage and a few other ideas but I was wondering if you guys had any needs or suggestions.
Carter Lemarchand
Based on the ideas you've listed, I really like your Dhampir idea. The idea of a monster fighting to save the world against worse monsters is interesting and fits really well with the themes of this adventure path.
I'm not so excited about the shoveler idea. Based on what little I have to go on, it sounds like an idea that would fit better in a story that didn't take itself as seriously as I'm hoping this one will.
The Many-Faced GM
I appreciate the honest feedback. I like the Dhampir concept but I don't know how appropriate he is for this campaign. Other than using evil spells like animate dead he'd be pretty neutral. I envision him as the bullied kid who discovered the dark arts to protect himself. He's not agressive, but he wouldn't be a push over either.
The plan would be to dip 1-level into sorcerer for the sanguine wild blooded bloodline 1st level ability (heal 1d6 by feeding from the recently deceased) and I'd take the spell blood money so I wouldn't have to worry about carrying material components.
I'm not sure about adding more followers with phantoms and eidolons though. Not to mention that'd be three casters right off the bat.
I have to admit though, the more I type the more I find he is appropriate for the campaign.
GM Faelyn
Well this won't be an evil-based campaign, so neutral is perfectly fine! I'm just allowing all alignments this time around. My first group I banned all evil alignments, because it just didn't fit the theme of the campaign. All alignments are welcome as long as they have a reason to work with the group and are not at all disruptive. Also, I do plan on making this a very serious campaign to really get folks into the horror/insanity mythos I'm striving to achieve.
TreasureFox
Good idea DH, I'll do that
I think the Dhampir fits the area of Ustalav well, but otherwise I don't have any opinion. For once I'm playing a character who wouldn't care about someone raising the undead, so that's great.
Just do whatcha wanna do right?
Also I really like serious campaigns, though my players around my table don't agree.
Carter Lemarchand
So far, the theme running through the character concept is "normal person infected by horrific otherworldly power"
Given that we are starting with some kind of amnesia, I see no reason why a Dhampir couldn't have the same kind of concept. It would be intersting to reflavor a Dhampir so that their tainted blood wasn't the result of cursed heritage, but more like a person who caught a terrible affliction. In this case, the affliction might have even been purposefully given to the character, but they might not remember who, or why.
Combining the Lovecraftian body-horror of "what am I becoming" with the Victorian horror of vampirism is pretty cool to me.
The Many-Faced GM
He'd be very loyal, supportive, and helpful however he could. Having been picked on a lot over the years has eroded his self confidence and a lack of opportunities have left his social skills diminished. The amnesia would be sort of a boon and provide him a new outlook on life. He'd be friendly and even somewhat naive, quick to please and just happy not to be insulted.
I imagine him as a bullied fat kid who kind of wakes up one day to find out his previous crappy life was just a dream. He's not popular but at least his life isn't as bad as it was and that makes him happy.
He would slowly discover his fixation with blood and his control over undead. He'd be just as surprised as everyone else that undead obeyed his commands.
Party wise he'd excel at knowledge skills, debuffing, perhaps buffing, some battlefield control, some blast spells, and he'd use meat shields. He would probably grow darker as his memory comes back and his powers grow, but he would always be loyal to his friends. His actions would be good but his magic would pull him towards evil. I think he'd be mostly neutral.
If you have any advice or feel that I should change anything let me know. I'm still very open and not tied to any particular aspect just yet.
GM Faelyn
So far I like the idea, Many-Face!
So looks like we have four PCs right now (primarily all casters too) with a heavy focus on summoning/pets. So, I think I'll probably limit the party to 5 PCs just so combat does not become too ludicrous for me to follow. Since everyone that I've extended the invite to has either accepted and joined or declined I'd like to see if any of you all have any suggestions for a 5th party member that you have enjoyed playing with in a group. I don't mind doing a general recruitment for the last PC, but after some of the recruitments I've been involved in before I'm quite weary of them. (I was pleasantly surprised at my Darkmoon Vale recruitment thread though!) So, please drop some suggestions and I will check them out and extend the invite to one if I feel they will be a good fit into our group!
Also, worry not about not having all the basic fields covered. If an NPC is required, then I have several ideas in mind to help cover areas that may have been overlooked.
Carter Lemarchand
It's kind of a shame that we are so minion-focused and our Bard doesn't have Inspire Courage. ;)
Honestly, I'm not sure we need a fifth player. The group looks preatty fun as it is. I'm open to the idea of another player, but I'm really loving the current party makeup.
Drafton Upton
Well it's not that bad actually, they still get bonuses to their attack rolls, and much more rarely Ac bonuses, just not damage rolls.
GM Faelyn
While he doesn't have Inspire Courage... he has something similar! You lose the extra damage, but still have the bonus to Attack in addition to bonus to AC and Saves! Also, Drafton, you should absolutely check out the feat Disconcerting Knowledge! I feel that feat would fit your concept perfectly!
In regards to the fifth player, I will leave that decision up to the players! If you all feel like you'd prefer a 5th player, then I will do so. If you'd rather try this with just 4, I am okay with that as well. I can easily have an NPC fill in healing as needed; Kinetic Chirurgeon is a very good NPC class that would fit into this AP-theme oh so perfectly!
Drafton Upton
Hmm, yes I think that will be something to check out once we get to higher levels and I get my next feat. I really do like the idea of coldly naming off anatomy, strengths and weaknesses of various creatures to attempt to frighten them. I think it works particularly well with my focus on macabre and disturbing paintings as part of the knowledge my character has of different creatures.
TreasureFox
I think between Drafton and I, we should be fine with healing. I have all the healing spells just like a cleric. I just don't get the channel energy. Once we get hold of a wand, I'm completely set.
I think we actually have all the bases covered, just in a weird way. I can heal, Drafton and Dhamis are smart, Carter can sneak and disable traps, and 3 of us can summon melee monsters.
Dhamiskeanus, the Swollen
I'm good either way but nobody really comes to mind as far as recommendations, at least that's not here already. I really enjoy unorthodox groups. Things are more challenging and you have to come up with unusual solutions sometimes, really forces the creativity. I can heal myself so no worries there. I like not having a channeler around since it would make me a friendly fire target.
So to pretty much echo everyone else's thoughts, I'm good as is but wouldn't have any issues if another was added.
GM Faelyn
Okay then! I do not mind giving it a go with only four. One more week for the first part of the AP... I'm salivating with anticipation! Once you all have your profiles setup go ahead and post in the Gameplay thread if you haven't already. I hope I will be able to do this AP justice!
I will likely include links to music that may help set the mood while you are reading through the posts. Feel free to listen or not listen as you prefer. Also if there is anything you feel could help really immerse into the creep-factor I am open to suggestions.
*EDIT*
I will take a close look into all th PCs over the next few days to make sure everyone is all set. Also, go ahead and make up the background and personality for your PCs before the fugue.
Drafton Upton
Mine would have to be Magnum Opus. The problem with it is it's effect. While it's very niche, it is quite demanding in the realm of prerequisites and potentially very useful over the long run, if not entirely viable as an adventuring party.
GM Faelyn, would like me to look for another?
GM Faelyn
One more day until the PDF release!!! I would like to spend a little time reading through the first volume and doing prep work before we officially kick off the campaign. So likely the middle of next week will be the tentative start date, I will keep you updated.
GM Faelyn
Finally have my copy of the first volume! Going to start reading through it now. Go ahead and put the finally touches on your PCs and let me know for sure when they are complete so I can give them a thorough look and make sure there are no issues! Looking forward to starting soon... Mwa-hahahah
Nova Strangewater
Sounds good. I'll give another look through my character tomorrow. If someone would be so kind, can they attempt to double check my work? I find these occult classes super complex.
Carter Lemarchand
We can get him a pair of these!
GM Faelyn
Sorry folks, I've had quite the busy weekend. I will look over all the PCs today to make sure everything looks good and then hopefully get the first gameplay post up tonight. Make sure everyone has dotted themselve in the Gameplay thread!
