The basket is free of magics, as is the glass jar.
Only the copper banded chest radiates faint illusion magic.

"Half an hour, he says. Hmm..." Asam studies the three chests Can they open, or is there a lock?, testing to see if they open, before going to check the jar and the basket.

Loot sheet No plunder, no pay Battle map--Misc info slides

Asami, yes they have locks. Willsave DC 12 please, since you're checking them all.

Jar:

About a gallon's worth glass jar, it is halfway filled with a clear transparant liquid, on the bottom lies a jeweled brass key.

Basket:

This 2-foot-round wicker basket requires no key to open,
its lid resting gently atop its wide rim. Inside, a blue stone
key rests atop a pile ofcrumpled linens

Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9

Hmm, rapier only, and bad will. There's some introspection that may need to happen after this this mission.

"Aha! A key! Too easy." Remembering those twinkling eyes and smirky look, Asami stares at the crumpled linens with great suspicion. She whips out her rapier, and flings the linen and the key out of the basket with a quick flick of the wrist.

I was going to say it can´t be easy, but if you wants to pick a key just as we start... Well, try it on the lock.

But... let me think about this riddle, just in case it don´t open.Says Keera to Asami.

Then she starts to move around the items as she think in loud voice

He says inside is our quest, so we must search what is "our quest", solve it and then we will have our way out. Easy to say, but what how we know what is the test?

She examines carefully all the cointainers, except the jar, checking for words, symbols, or anything wich could be a message. The jar is examined without touch it, she feels there´s something extrange in it, if only because is the only one who don´t needs to be open.

"The copper chest emits a magic aura," says Nym to the others, "but none of the others do. Act carefully with that one until we know more."

In post above, Nym was carefully inspecting all the containers, without touching them. Does he need the Will save as well? Roll below, just in case. Do any of the chests have a keyhole since we now have a key?

No, only that specific container had magic.

Nym sees, after carefully examining the copper banded chest, a transparent outline and realizes it's a mere illusion.
Nobles got to have sharp eyes, don't they. ;)
I haven't seen you guys take a key just yet.

With that, Asami now has a snake on a blade. All one needs now is a fire to prepare the delicacy.

I've been in beijing, the amount of stalls and things they sell as food. Too little time. If you ever decide to taste roast black scorpion on a stick, it's tasteless and very crunchy, best eaten with salt and dip.

But at least, the group has a key. Logically one tries every lock with it and the red banded chest fits. Who's going to do it?

Fosco stayed in the back watching the others have gone to town to figure out the puzzle. They didn't need him in the way to figure out such a simple thing. As the viper was cut in half, he was glad to have been in the back.

Sorry for the delay, I was so sick yesterday I couldn't sit at the computer. I'm feeling much better today.

Hmm...I wonder if greensting scorpions are just as tasteless. They seem to be everywhere.

I also wondered about the rapier thing - it seems it'd be wider and possibly with an edge compared to a modern foil rapier. My friend fenced for a while, and those things seem so flimsy. May be pierced, and then sliced in half from the inside out :P

Asami looks over to the paladin crushing the floor with his sword. "You want to take care of the key while I look at this jar?" She heads over to the clear jar and gives it a good sniff. "Some sort of contact poison? I wouldn't put it past that twinkly eyed man."

"Wait, we have the perfect specimen to test this thing on." The swashbuckler studies Nym intently, before flashing a grin and turning away. "Were you worried, noble elf?" Despite not facing him, the wink and smile in that tease rings clearly with the words. She squats at the pierced and sliced carcass of the snake, and pours a few drops on it.

Then, realizing the silliness of it all. She stands and tosses the jar into a corner (call it 15' away or so, just to be safe).

And leaving a mess (On purpose? Who, Asami?) for someone to clean up afterwards. Now assuming it does shatter...

With the key free of the liquid, Asami uses the rapier to nudge the key out of the mess from her "solution" to the puzzle and towards the party. "Here you go. Problem solved."

Cool, not that I didn't know it before, but flashy and reckless works for Asami.

Loot sheet No plunder, no pay Battle map--Misc info slides

As Asami pours a few drops on the snake, there is no immediate sightable effect. As she throws it away it shatters, leaving lots of splashing and pieces. Good thing too, since the snake now showed some irritation marks on the belly.

So you now have a jeweled brass key.

Going with the keys, the blue one fit the lock. Turning it, a *click* is heard, and the chest opens. Contrary to what one might expect, there was no loot. It set off a series of strings and pulleys across the room, via the floor onto the ceiling. A soft *ting* follows, as a small key is now hanging suspended 6 inch from the 15ft high ceiling.

Asami pats Nagaji on the back, "So glad you volunteered to help." Asami backs up a bit, and then with a running start uses Sele's hands and shoulder as leverage as she continues vertically, leaps into the air, and snatches at the key with the rapier before attempting her acrobatic landing.

Acrobatics, because it'd be so cool: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Of course, her perfect plan goes to pots as she takes a wrong step, pushes too far away to attempt at the key, and nearly twists her ankle in the landing.

Slow to get up, the swashbuckler sheepishly climbs back up the paladin, and very deliberately reaches and grabs the key. Then, having retrieved the scepter-key, Asami quickly heads to the other two boxes and tries to open them.

A Crusade of Light
Arriving at the Temple of the Shining Star, you are immediately directed to Ollysta Zadrian. This paladin of Sarenrae is young in her years, but holds herself with the poise of a queen and warrior simultaneously. As she
notices your arrival, she strides forward, addressing you in a strong voice.

"Thank the light of Sarenrae you have arrived! I knew Ambrus would come through for us in the Silver Crusade. I desperately need you to bring medicine to an orphanage and let me know if the headmistress, Gilga Baltwin, is deserving of our charity. Since our quest began, the needy have clamored for our aid, and I suspect some are abusing our generosity. It may sound cruel, but there are plenty of dishonest people out in the world eager for easy gold. Do you know of the Silver Crusade? After discovering so many factions splintered the Society, a number of us banded together to proliferate the cause of charity and kindness using the Society’s resources. As it is said, ‘The Dawn brings new light’ and I’ve made it my life’s work to use our recent darkness
to bring a new light to the world and to the Pathfider Society. I apologize for straying of point. Will you bring this parcel of medicine to Auntie Baltwin’s Home for Recovery in the Eastgate district?"

While talking, hints in her voice would indicate she's doubtful about Baltwin's credibility.

If you sneak "Smurf" somewhere into your posts, the boards change your avatar for that post. It's been that way for a while, but not everyone knows about because they just don't say smurf very often.

The halfling looks downcast at Asami's censure. "My apologies, milady. I was unsure of how to approach it. If I must say so, handling the situation with confidence is better than any solution I'd devise."

At the temple, Fosco looks just as comfortable as he did standing atop the pentacle at the Paracountess' place. Being familiar with both ends of the spectrum had it's benefits. But as others should take the rightful lead, he waited until they spoke before acknowledging his agreement to take and weigh the situation for the regal lady.
