Thank you very much for this opportunity. It was truly unexpected. I'll need a little time to re-jigger my gear. I expect to have a busy holiday weekend (very little free time away from the kids), but I should be ready to kick off by Tuesday morning at the latest.

I'm in EDT/EST.
I believe I've fixed the money issue. (Dropped the Ring of Sustenance and made the hand crossbow no longer masterwork.)
I think it would be good to start at the beginning. Newly arrived in Kaer Maga, just settled into an Inn. Probably in the Bottoms.

I liked the set up. I've stealth dotted the gameplay thread. I'll need a little time to craft a first post of my own.
I do have a question though. What would I know about secret signals that the Freemen or other anti-slavery groups such as Bellwether might use?
Just in case, here's a Knowledge (local) roll.
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

Very early, but I already like your posting style.
Thanks, I try. :)

Also, not to go all 'trigger warning'! or anything but I have been doing some research into Nazi occupations and stuff to get ideas and a feel for the city.
How dark do we want to go? I'm not very much myself a 'grimdark' person, but I think the city should start in the grip of some steep despair, agree? Any thoughts on the tone and level of evil we get to?
Rylka Sarna |
Yeah, I don't need to do the 'grimdark' thing. I have to admit I go get a bit of a Casablanca vibe from the description.

Sounds good.

Was pondering do we want some sort of ' Fame' system, to help you gain notice in the Underground? Not sure how it would work yet, but it would help track your notoriety.
Thoughts?
Hmm, probably a useful system to have. There might be something in Ultimate Intrigue, I don't have it yet, so I haven't been able to check. I'm not sure if we'd need two axes to track both the underground fame and the Chelish notoriety, or if those would both use the same score.
Sorry I've been a bit slow lately, I've been a bit under the weather and trying to keep my RL from breaking down too much.

Doing better. Very busy, kids are more antsy as summer is ending, we are trying to buy a new house. Upgrade and better schools. I'm enjoying this, sorry my posting hasn't been more regular.
GM Mowque |
Sounds like you have enough going on! Don't let this game interfere with matters, of course. Buying a new house is a daunting task...
I have kinda worked out the Fame/Infamy system. Tell me if you like it, still a bit under construction.
Fame first....
You will be on a scale of 1-100. Every action (ie, side quests) will be worth so many points, which I will provide to you up front (in ooc). If you complete it, you'll get the points.
Here are some examples...
+1 Free a slave. Give an inspiring speech. Cause a disturbance.
+5 Sabotage a trade/industry operation. Uncover major state secrets.
+10 Wipe out a division of guards. Cause a riot. Cause a major change in the occupation laws for the better.
+15 Recruit a faction or highly influential figure.
+50 Free all the slaves. Assassinate the Governor. Lead a successful district wide rebellion.
X2 for Brazen success
You can also go backwards...again some examples-
-10 Cause a source to be arrested/killed, Long period of inactivity (scales with time)
-30 Cause a safehouse to be compromised. Cause a major operation to be compromised.
-40 Cause the death of a large number of rebellion members. Get caught revealing rebellion secrets to Occupation.
-70 Cause the rebellion to get wiped out
Certain levels of Fame will 'unlock' stuff you couldn't do before. Basically, side effects of how well known and respected you are. Here is some of the stuff, might add some more if you like it.
100 President in waiting of the new regime.
90 Your presence inspires rebellion
80 Can call major rebellion meetings
70 Are an automatic attendee to any rebel meeting of substance
60
50 Can call a small gathering of faction leaders
40
30 Can run small long term operations.
20 Member in good standing, can run small missions.
10 Can gather miscreants.

Infamy
Infamy is sort of the same, just expressing how far up in the 'Most Wanted List' you are. Essentially it leads to higher level baddies being assigned to 'your case', with many plot related effects. What a Hellknight might do is different then a beat cop.
Infamy points are assigned based on actions (side quests), and I'll be up front about it (ooc). Generally infamy scales along with fame so the examples are the same, and the point values.
Infamy
0 Guardsmen
10 Investigator
20
30 Talented detective
40
50
60 Hellknights
70
80
90 High Level Casters
100 Pit Fiend
You can also reduce your infamy points...examples....
-10 Sow false rumors.
-20 Long period of inactivity (scales with time)
-40 Provide information to the Occupation.
-50 Successfully fake your death.
I know it seems a bit complex but really you have two numbers to deal with. Fame, which allows you to do stuff in the underground and Infamy which shows how badly the Chelish want you.
What do you think?
Rylka Sarna |
It looks good. For a lot of events the two scales will probably just be the inverse of each other, but they'll start to diverge pretty quickly with other, more focused events.
Rylka Sarna |
Possibly generous, but since it was the first job it might be fair.
Freed two slaves, I'd put that at 2-3 fame. But it may depend on how Sirel spins it to the other cell.
Rylka Sarna |
Makes sense.
I'm going out of town for the weekend. I don't know what my network connectivity will be like. Just FYI.
Rylka Sarna |
Sorry, it's been a very busy week. Trying to work on a plan of action and get a post written up.
Rylka Sarna |
I just realized that the post I thought I made days ago isn't there. I was waiting for you, and you were waiting for me. :(
I was checking in to let you know I'm going on an unexpected business trip tomorrow morning. I'll be away for the week, back next Thursday. I don't know what my posting schedule will be like while I'm away. No idea about free time or connectivity. Sorry.
