Taking a sip Gwenhwyfar smiles at Jimmy. "Yes." and looks a bit ashamed at Abomentolors comment.
"Know what you want and ask for it. It helps prevent that life serves you lemons." Tauriell says with a smile and takes a pull from her mug with the beer.
"Well then I am glad." Jimmy says the Gwen while trying to make light of Abomentolor's joke, "Compared to you and Tauriell we are basically children."
"Yes, and someone has to teach you, that you don't talk about a lady's age. If you want to make a point on his cost," pointing at the gnome "you can leave me out." But she is only half serious.
"Honestly I have no idea how old you might even be. I just know elves live far longer than humans. You are the one showing your age by being offended by it." Jimmy says with a chuckle
"Honestly, I have no idea why human women make such a fuss about their age. Maybe they're afraid noone would take them anymore if they knew how close they are to their best before date. I don't care about that. I'll look the same all the time you will know me. So I don't care. I've seen 117 winters so far. So from my age, you are at least not my children. More like my great grand children's grand children."
"Also young boy, I already told you that I was around in this world a hundred years ago. You have to listen to your elders!" she says with a grin.
Gwenhwyfars eyes grow wide and her mouth stands open. "Onehundredseventeen?"
"Yes, you may compliment me on my good looks for my age." she responds with a chuckle.
"Compared to a human for your age you look fantastic Tauriell. But most humans are skeletons by then." Jimmy says with a joking grin
Returning the grin Tauriell states "When 100 years you reach, looking good you will not." Quoting another old guy with pointed ears.
"If I'm alive at 100 I'll be incredibly happy with myself." Jimmy chuckles. "How old do elves live to anyway?"
"It varies like with any race, but the oldest ones are beyond 700 years, while others reach only half that. But let's talk in 80 years how happy you are about still being alive." Tauriell replies with a raised brow.
She then starts relishing er meal before it gets cold. "Wow. that's delicious."
"At least by having your company I know I will still have friends at that age." Jimmy smiles "But old age isn't an exciting prospect by any means."
"So where are you going to celebrate your 100th birthday. For I will attend for sure if I'm invited." Abomentolor says, at least partly to rub in, that he may reach a very high age too.
"So long as you promise not to set too much on fire" Jimmy says, ragging the gnome good naturedly
"Just the candles on your cake. I hope you will still have enough breath to blow out hundred of them."
"That must get fun when you turn 600 hey Tauriell, how massive must that cake be to fit all the candles?" Jimmy glances at Gwen to see how she is fairing after her embarrassment earlier
Gwenhwyfar with her measly 16 years could relate to Jimmy who is just a few years older, but her life experience and imagination is too limited to picture the numbers thrown around as an age to live up to.
Instead she concentrates on her fish, which is luckily really tasty and not on aquired taste like the wine.
'Yeah great another joke about my age haha', Tauriell thinks, her dampened enthusiasm about it clearly showing on her face she replies "Most elves live around or in the wood and love these woods. Forrest fires are contradictory to that. So that and the huge numbers may have played a role that the custom of putting candles on cakes didn't take roots with the elves."
"I didn't think of that, but it makes a lot of sense." Jimmy says, noticing the sour shift in mood. "I for one plan on staying young as long as possible, with the help of good food, good music, and better company"
Seeing the chance to lead the target of joking back to Jimmy she replies "So you don't like your present company?" interpreting Jimmy's statement in the worst possible way on purpose, with a mischievous grin.
"Oh of course not. A gnome who I'm sure wants to watch the world burn, an elf who takes every opportunity to mother me, and a girl who I have to endure watching me fail repeatedly. Who would be happy with that?" Jimmy says smiling broadly at each in turn, making sure they know he is just joking
"That you don't want to spend all your time with old grumpy people I can understand, but that you despise my company too?" Gwenhwyfar says in mock indignation.
"It could be worse, you could lord it over me when you save me. So I suppose I have that to be thankful for. And the saving of course"
"Be careful young lady. Last time I checked you wanted to share a room with me for the night." Tauriell scolds Gwen impersonating an old bitter person.
"Wow, so with my mercyful behaviour I earned the state of being the lesser of two evils. You have some learning to do Mr. Charming." Gwenhwyfar replies handing him his hand back from her shoulder and moving away a bit.
And to Tauriell she adds "I know you won't give up on receiving your back scrub." sticking out the tongue at her.
A glimpse of delight can be seen on Tauriell's face before she is back to her play "The youth nowadays" shaking her head.
"Gwen, Your company is some of the finest I have ever had. Remember our conversation in the forest? That isn't something I would ever consider for someone who's company I didn't very much enjoy." Jimmy says
Turning back to Jimmy and looking him into the eyes she replies "You take out the fun of making fun of you. Stop being serious, this has to be fun. So I go back to being indignated towards you and you get to try once again to make a compliment worthy for such an amazing company as I am." With that she looks at Tauriell again, obviously biting her tongue not to start laughing immediately.
Tauriell looks with a chuckle at Jimmy excited about what he will come up with.
After a few moments Gwenhwyfar turns back to Jimmy and adds "I'll give you an example: I enjoy the company of Jimmy Fiddle very much for he is the great conqueror of all his enemies, be it fish small or huge and even goblins he slays in his sleep!". with a wide smile of joy in her face. "Now it's your turn."
"That may be a nice game. I enjoy the company of Abomentolor Goblinburner, for he is a great diplomat who prefers a good argument and compromise over violence anytime and is the most patient person I know." Taking up her glass and toasting towards the gnome.
"Gwen is the most mature person I have had the pleasure of spending any deal of time with. She is great at dealing with conflict and is always in command of her feelings and whatever situation she finds herself in." Jimmy takes a stab at it. "How was that?"
With a scrutinising look she ponders, if that compliment is satisfying. "Well it's only half bad. I think, I'll accept that." With that she grabs Jimmy's hand and puts it back on her shoulder with a smile on her face.
Not to stand back Abomentolor replies "I enjoy the company of Tauriell very much for her youthful, untarnished joy of life, her willingness to act on instinct without overthinking things and her positive outlook on life.
"I enjoy the company of Oz, as he is so very seldom there to provide company" Jimmy says trying to get some practice in
Gwenwhyfar to top Jimmy adds "I enjoy the company of Oz very much for he is such an open person with a friendly face and a smile for everyone."
Niamh bows for the ordience, waiting for the applause, paying her food and packing her things she goes to bed, taking the fiddle with her, for being fit the next morning
Tauriell throws in another one at Gwen "I enjoy the company of Gwenhwyfar very much for she has such a life experience and acts reasonable and grown up and isn't easily embarrassed. And she gives great backscrubs."
"As fun as this is perhaps we should call it a night after all? Even the bard is packing in for the night." Jimmy says with a frown
Tauriells comment leads immediately to Gwenhwyfar being embarrassed a bit with her face flushing. But not willing to give in to that she replies. "Ok my great-grand-mother, I'll take you to your bath and to bed."
The waiter noticing the change in topic appears at the table "Is there anything I can do for you? Maybe a dessert or a liquor?"
"You might need to help her up the stairs too" Jimmy says to Gwen.
To the waiter, "None for me thank you, anyone else?"
"No thank you, my nurse here is in a hurry to get me off to bed. I'd like to pay please" Tauriell jokes.
"That would be three gold per person please" The waiter answers.
As anyone hands over the money, he adds "Thank you very much for honoring us with your presence, and we would be pleased to have you again." with a slight bow towards you.
Gwenhwyfar gets up and reaches Tauriel a hand to help her up "I'll lend you my shoulder to lean on for the walk."
Tauriel whispers back "Oh you snotty nosed brat. You better run, for if I catch you, you're in for some serious spanking." giving her an evil grin.
She then gets up and starts walking towards the door.
Gwenhwyfar is suddenly in a hurry to be out of the restaurant before Tauriell and as soon as she is past the reception she starts giggling and running acting all grown up again.
When Tauriell finally catches up she will find her hidden under the blankets.
