Meridian says wait, so we'll wait. It's better if the decision is as unanimous as possible.

Meridian, let us know when you feel like we've waited long enough. If Silverbane doesn't come back, we can make a Recruitment thread and see if any GMs like the concept enough to pick it up and run with it.

Ok, my shame knows no bounds. I have been absent MUCH longer than intended. My new computer came in Yesterday, and I had to buy a wifi adapter (no built in). Just letting you know I didn't forget you. If you'd like to continue that would be great. If not, I understand as well. I hope you all will though.

Male Gillman Cleric 6 (Restoration[Healing]/Oceans[Water]) [ HP 49/49 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +3; Perception +2 ]

Huzzah, he lives! Praise!

I'd love to continue with you. I understand that real life can get in the way and I'm glad to see you well.

I'm still here. Glad Meridian said to wait. :)

I am definitely game!

You gave us a bit of a scare; wondering if you had died or something. Glad you're back and it was nothing traumatic that kept you away.

Were it ever to happen again, even stopping in to a library or something just to give us a post that you would be away a while would be appreciated. As you can read above, we were considering weather to disband or replace you. Glad you popped back in though.

I'm def here. Good to hear everything is ok.

So if you're interested to know what happened, I'll give a brief recap.

This experience has been the single worst experience in recent memory. I talked to the store building the computer for me, and they said they could work in the budget. About 3 days later, I get an email stating that they were going to charge me $350 above budget. Well, that didn't really work, so I told them it had to be under the specified price AFTER labor was included (I couldn't imagine that labor costs 350, but who knows). They shot back an email another couple days after that saying they revised the quote, and it was still $200 above budget. Again, this obviously didn't work for us, so we told them to try again, except this time, my wife and I started looking around on our own. I found a great deal on an HP at Best Buy for $500, and a Graphics Card for $150. The store called back, and was still $100 above budget. We told them not to worry about it and that we'd found something in our price range.

Get the package from Best Buy, bring it home. Install card, drivers, update windows. It works for all of two hours, then shuts down. I switch out power supplies, try different outlets, etc. Finally I take out the graphics card, and it boots. This time it boots with a disk read error. Check all the cables, make sure all is connected, nada. So we go to geek squad after the weekend. They say the PCIe slot is defective, and the motherboard is faulty. So they replace the tower (The graphics card was fine). Get it home, install card, this one doesn't even boot. Take the card out, Disk Read Error. It's been close to 2 weeks at this point mind you. So we take THIS tower back to Best Buy, and they offered us a refund for our trouble. I decided not to buy again from Best Buy.

Look online again, browse different stores, find a good deal. We had to wait on the refund check from Best Buy to clear, but then ordered from Newegg.

Nearly a month after my absence, package arrives:

120 GB SSD with Windows 8
2 TB HD
AMD FX-6100 6-core CPU at 3.3Ghz
8GB Ram
1GB Radeon HD 7770 graphics card

I had to buy a wireless adapter. The tower we got from Best Buy had built in wi-fi, but the one I ordered from Newegg didn't, otherwise I would have been online sooner. Hope you all weren't too terribly bored while I was gone. I felt so aweful.

Sheesh. What a mess.

Male Gillman Cleric 6 (Restoration[Healing]/Oceans[Water]) [ HP 49/49 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +3; Perception +2 ]

A horror story of dealing with purchasing a computer. *shudders* I sympathize with you.

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

Sheesh. I'm out sick for a few days and I come back to slew of posts. :p

Seriously, glad to have you back and sorry to hear you had so much trouble getting up and running again.

Ok, so I've been tossing around an idea in my head for a little bit. You all will gain enough XP to level up to 6 from the Zombie fight (due to strategic fighting, and although it was more cinematic than proper, you painted a good scene, I feel). What I'm wondering about, is if you'd like something for your patience. Waiting for my computer issues to be fixed, and this past couple days (I had inventory at the warehouse I work at, so I slept a LOT the past couple days). I'm debating between offering you all another level up (to 7) or special ability/item/armor/weapon/power. Give me your opinions on the matter, since I'd like to reward you all for being so patient and understanding.

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

I don't think leveling up is actually as much of a reward as some people do. It's a power increase but it doesn't change much about how the story unfolds, and if it isn't earned as part of the story it kinda feels hollow.

I think getting the story moving would be a great reward though. :)

Male Psi-slinger: Parry 4 / RATN 4 (6/8/10) / Toughness 14 (6) (18 (6) vs Energy) / ISP 40/40 /Quick/Danger Sense/Psychic Sense/ Bennies 3/3

I agree with Simon about levelling. We started at level 5, we could have just as easily started at level 7, so a level in itsel makes very little difference. The challenge of the adventure scales with us anyway, or at least hopefully it does.

I'd not to opposed to an physical reward of some sort, but having things move on, as Simon said, would be great.

Male Gillman Cleric 6 (Restoration[Healing]/Oceans[Water]) [ HP 49/49 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +3; Perception +2 ]

Hurrah for level 6! And I understand your situation. Sleep is good!

We don't need a reward for being patient but I'm not going to say no to nifty stuff!

I'm leaning towards getting a special thing instead rather than just a level up. Special things, I feel, make things more unique. Special things that help make the story move on? Better!

Female Dragon-Touched (Brass) Warlock 4 [HP 40/40 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +5 | Init +8; Perception +10 | Spells: (4/5 | 3/3)]

I will echo Cliks here. I do not feel that I need a reward because I was patient; pbp games require patience.

But if you want to give nifty things, I will likely not say no. ;)

I would also value a level less than something that will drive the story or something that will have some personal importance to my character.

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

^ what he said.

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

I would like to echo the others in saying that a gift for our patience is a kind offer, but it is unnecessary. Life happens to the best of us and we are happy just having you back when you are able.

Will I turn down something shiny or something to help the plot along? Not unless I thought it would be too much and make the game unfair. After all, I can't wait to see where things go from here. And getting there is half the fun.

Also, on a side note, didn't someone pick up a a spellbook at the beached ship?

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

Didn't you already get something shiny to move the plot along? :)

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

*chuckles*

I suppose I did. I just have no idea how to use it, or if it's even safe. :p

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

That's how you know it's a plot item. :)

I'm cool with whatever, honestly I just enjoy playing.

There will be an updated post at 8am est Friday. I'm getting ready for a 12hr shift. The next segment will be less combat oriented and more role-playing though :).

Female Dragon-Touched (Brass) Warlock 4 [HP 40/40 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +5 | Init +8; Perception +10 | Spells: (4/5 | 3/3)]

sounds good to me

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

When would you like use to level up our sheets?

Also, I was close. Zhan recovered some kind of book from the wreckage, that was what I was thinking of. It may contain some useful info.

Male Gillman Cleric 6 (Restoration[Healing]/Oceans[Water]) [ HP 49/49 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +3; Perception +2 ]

Almost forgot about the level up! Silly me. Will add when you say so.

Robert Level 6:

Cleric +1
BAB +1, Fort+1, Ref+1, Will+1
Healer's Blessing (cure spells treated as empowered (+50%) Healing)
Cold Resistance 10 (Water)

HP: +10 = 1d8 ⇒ 7 + 2 (con) + 1 (favored class)
Skill Ranks: 2 = 2

Skills
Spellcraft
Knowledge (planes)

Spells per day: 2nd +1, 3rd +1

Everybody go ahead and level up! I should have mentioned it earlier, thank you for reminding me. Also, I realize that some of my posts may have seemed rather leading, but feel free to stray from the "beaten path", if you'd like. I don't have a scanner to upload, but this campaign setting has been in the works for a while. I've got 5 world bosses (yes, world bosses) that can be encountered, 6 mini bosses that have different locations in the wilderness, and 4 provinces laid out so far. (doesn't sound like much, but trust me it's a decent little chunk). Also, there's 3 factions so far, and 3 cults :) And prestige classes for many different tastes. Including a Death Knight sort of class.

Female Dragon-Touched (Brass) Warlock 4 [HP 40/40 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +5 | Init +8; Perception +10 | Spells: (4/5 | 3/3)]

Level 6! Woot! Not that much changed, but woot all the same!

Same. Tomorrow night I should have time.

...Ooooooh. Sounds great! :D

Male Psi-slinger: Parry 4 / RATN 4 (6/8/10) / Toughness 14 (6) (18 (6) vs Energy) / ISP 40/40 /Quick/Danger Sense/Psychic Sense/ Bennies 3/3

Hitpoint roll: 1d8 ⇒ 7

HP: 1d10 ⇒ 5

+1 Bab
+1 Fort
+6 skill points
Crane Wing

Once I get my hands on an Agile Whip I'll be sitting pretty. :)

I'm guessing you'll be putting the penance shard on the end as well? Kiwyn, that's the second s@##ty roll you've had in a row, take 5 hit points instead of 1. I can't have them be that low at this level. My conscience won't allow it.

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

Thank you very much Silverbane. I made the adjustment already.
Also, just to run it past you, the two spells I added to my spellbook where:
Invisibility Sphere
Magic Weapon, Greater
If you don't like those choices let me know and I'll pick something else.

Those spells are fine. Nice exchange between each other by the way! I'm on break at work, so I'll be posting tomorrow after I wake up. Just out of curiosity though, has anybody ever played or DM'd a game set in the Abyss, or Hell, and have stories about them? I've always wanted to eventually bring a campaign there, but haven't ever read enough material on it. (I have no plans to bring this campaign there, but if anybody is interested in a side story, it could be a possibility for a secondary campaign).

GM Silverbane wrote:

Originally, Penance was the name of the whip, not the shard, but I really like the idea of the shards having the names of various virtues on them, like maybe the shield was covered with engravings of the tenants of goodness. Simon carries the Penitence shard. Cool idea, thanks. :)

If I get a new whip, yes, I'll transfer the shard. If I enchant the one I have now I won't need to.

The Shard doesn't actually do anything except make it Consecrated (at least not right now), it's just a story thing. Maybe at some point in the future I can "unlock" some sort of magical properties somehow.

Quick check in, I've got another 12hr shift tonight, so with any luck I'll have an update either in the morning, or afternoon tomorrow. How's everybody enjoying things so far? Interesting? Boring? Intrigued? Confused? Would love to hear your thoughts.

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

You definitely have my attention. Simon is thoroughly pissed off.

Female Dragon-Touched (Brass) Warlock 4 [HP 40/40 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +5 | Init +8; Perception +10 | Spells: (4/5 | 3/3)]

very interesting so far

Kitsune Wizard hp: 0/0 init: +0 AC: 0/t0/ff0

Kiwyn is extremely fearful that she has somehow endangered Khloey by accident. And that has made her very angry at herself.

Male Psi-slinger: Parry 4 / RATN 4 (6/8/10) / Toughness 14 (6) (18 (6) vs Energy) / ISP 40/40 /Quick/Danger Sense/Psychic Sense/ Bennies 3/3

I'm having a good time. The mystery is quite intriguing, and I'm enjoying watching it unfold.

Male Gillman Cleric 6 (Restoration[Healing]/Oceans[Water]) [ HP 49/49 | AC 18/13/15, Fort +7, Ref +5, Will +7 | Init +3; Perception +2 ]

Enjoying it so far! Interested in how the story develops and finding out more about the place we've found ourselves in.

Was TOTALLY surprised by the group actions of Kiwyn, Zhan, and Simon. I actually had to readjust to compensate for it.

Male Psi-slinger: Parry 4 / RATN 4 (6/8/10) / Toughness 14 (6) (18 (6) vs Energy) / ISP 40/40 /Quick/Danger Sense/Psychic Sense/ Bennies 3/3

I wass too. Kiwyn just kinda bolting like that left me very torn; stay with Simon, or tear after her to figure out what she was doing...

HP: 53/53, AC 22/25 (T.ac 16/19, FFac 15), CMD 23 (24/trip, 25/disarm and sunder) Fort +9, Ref +7, Will +7, Per +9, Init +4, AoOs 4/4, Tentacle 1/1

Simon's a heroic fellow, but that 8 wisdom effects his self preservation instincts quite a bit.
