Meridian says wait, so we'll wait. It's better if the decision is as unanimous as possible.
Meridian, let us know when you feel like we've waited long enough. If Silverbane doesn't come back, we can make a Recruitment thread and see if any GMs like the concept enough to pick it up and run with it.

Ok, my shame knows no bounds. I have been absent MUCH longer than intended. My new computer came in Yesterday, and I had to buy a wifi adapter (no built in). Just letting you know I didn't forget you. If you'd like to continue that would be great. If not, I understand as well. I hope you all will though.

I am definitely game!
You gave us a bit of a scare; wondering if you had died or something. Glad you're back and it was nothing traumatic that kept you away.
Were it ever to happen again, even stopping in to a library or something just to give us a post that you would be away a while would be appreciated. As you can read above, we were considering weather to disband or replace you. Glad you popped back in though.

I STILL LIVE!!

GM Silverbane |

So if you're interested to know what happened, I'll give a brief recap.
This experience has been the single worst experience in recent memory. I talked to the store building the computer for me, and they said they could work in the budget. About 3 days later, I get an email stating that they were going to charge me $350 above budget. Well, that didn't really work, so I told them it had to be under the specified price AFTER labor was included (I couldn't imagine that labor costs 350, but who knows). They shot back an email another couple days after that saying they revised the quote, and it was still $200 above budget. Again, this obviously didn't work for us, so we told them to try again, except this time, my wife and I started looking around on our own. I found a great deal on an HP at Best Buy for $500, and a Graphics Card for $150. The store called back, and was still $100 above budget. We told them not to worry about it and that we'd found something in our price range.
Get the package from Best Buy, bring it home. Install card, drivers, update windows. It works for all of two hours, then shuts down. I switch out power supplies, try different outlets, etc. Finally I take out the graphics card, and it boots. This time it boots with a disk read error. Check all the cables, make sure all is connected, nada. So we go to geek squad after the weekend. They say the PCIe slot is defective, and the motherboard is faulty. So they replace the tower (The graphics card was fine). Get it home, install card, this one doesn't even boot. Take the card out, Disk Read Error. It's been close to 2 weeks at this point mind you. So we take THIS tower back to Best Buy, and they offered us a refund for our trouble. I decided not to buy again from Best Buy.
Look online again, browse different stores, find a good deal. We had to wait on the refund check from Best Buy to clear, but then ordered from Newegg.
Nearly a month after my absence, package arrives:
120 GB SSD with Windows 8
2 TB HD
AMD FX-6100 6-core CPU at 3.3Ghz
8GB Ram
1GB Radeon HD 7770 graphics card
I had to buy a wireless adapter. The tower we got from Best Buy had built in wi-fi, but the one I ordered from Newegg didn't, otherwise I would have been online sooner. Hope you all weren't too terribly bored while I was gone. I felt so aweful.

Sounds like a piece of a nightmare .. I hate computers sometimes.

GM Silverbane |

Ok, so I've been tossing around an idea in my head for a little bit. You all will gain enough XP to level up to 6 from the Zombie fight (due to strategic fighting, and although it was more cinematic than proper, you painted a good scene, I feel). What I'm wondering about, is if you'd like something for your patience. Waiting for my computer issues to be fixed, and this past couple days (I had inventory at the warehouse I work at, so I slept a LOT the past couple days). I'm debating between offering you all another level up (to 7) or special ability/item/armor/weapon/power. Give me your opinions on the matter, since I'd like to reward you all for being so patient and understanding.

Sir Simon Ravencourt |

I don't think leveling up is actually as much of a reward as some people do. It's a power increase but it doesn't change much about how the story unfolds, and if it isn't earned as part of the story it kinda feels hollow.
I think getting the story moving would be a great reward though. :)

Zhan |

I agree with Simon about levelling. We started at level 5, we could have just as easily started at level 7, so a level in itsel makes very little difference. The challenge of the adventure scales with us anyway, or at least hopefully it does.
I'd not to opposed to an physical reward of some sort, but having things move on, as Simon said, would be great.

Hurrah for level 6! And I understand your situation. Sleep is good!
We don't need a reward for being patient but I'm not going to say no to nifty stuff!
I'm leaning towards getting a special thing instead rather than just a level up. Special things, I feel, make things more unique. Special things that help make the story move on? Better!

Meridian Anterian |

I will echo Cliks here. I do not feel that I need a reward because I was patient; pbp games require patience.
But if you want to give nifty things, I will likely not say no. ;)
I would also value a level less than something that will drive the story or something that will have some personal importance to my character.

Kiwyn |

I would like to echo the others in saying that a gift for our patience is a kind offer, but it is unnecessary. Life happens to the best of us and we are happy just having you back when you are able.
Will I turn down something shiny or something to help the plot along? Not unless I thought it would be too much and make the game unfair. After all, I can't wait to see where things go from here. And getting there is half the fun.
Also, on a side note, didn't someone pick up a a spellbook at the beached ship?

Meridian Anterian |

sounds good to me

Everybody go ahead and level up! I should have mentioned it earlier, thank you for reminding me. Also, I realize that some of my posts may have seemed rather leading, but feel free to stray from the "beaten path", if you'd like. I don't have a scanner to upload, but this campaign setting has been in the works for a while. I've got 5 world bosses (yes, world bosses) that can be encountered, 6 mini bosses that have different locations in the wilderness, and 4 provinces laid out so far. (doesn't sound like much, but trust me it's a decent little chunk). Also, there's 3 factions so far, and 3 cults :) And prestige classes for many different tastes. Including a Death Knight sort of class.

Meridian Anterian |

Level 6! Woot! Not that much changed, but woot all the same!

Meridian Anterian |

Hit point roll: 1d10 ⇒ 8.

Kiwyn |

Thank you very much Silverbane. I made the adjustment already.
Also, just to run it past you, the two spells I added to my spellbook where:
Invisibility Sphere
Magic Weapon, Greater
If you don't like those choices let me know and I'll pick something else.

GM Silverbane |

Those spells are fine. Nice exchange between each other by the way! I'm on break at work, so I'll be posting tomorrow after I wake up. Just out of curiosity though, has anybody ever played or DM'd a game set in the Abyss, or Hell, and have stories about them? I've always wanted to eventually bring a campaign there, but haven't ever read enough material on it. (I have no plans to bring this campaign there, but if anybody is interested in a side story, it could be a possibility for a secondary campaign).

Sir Simon Ravencourt |

I'm guessing you'll be putting the penance shard on the end as well?
Originally, Penance was the name of the whip, not the shard, but I really like the idea of the shards having the names of various virtues on them, like maybe the shield was covered with engravings of the tenants of goodness. Simon carries the Penitence shard. Cool idea, thanks. :)
If I get a new whip, yes, I'll transfer the shard. If I enchant the one I have now I won't need to.
The Shard doesn't actually do anything except make it Consecrated (at least not right now), it's just a story thing. Maybe at some point in the future I can "unlock" some sort of magical properties somehow.

Meridian Anterian |

very interesting so far
