Dungeon Master S |
Welcome to my Play-by-Post!
Here's the ctrl+P for all my games:
1. I've been running games since the late 1980s, I've seen a lot of editions. I started playing PFS with Slot 1 Season 0 at Gen Con. I'm solid with the PFRPG rules, but everyone makes mistakes. I'll try to be as fair as possible.
2. I'm a Venture-Lieutenant for Southern NH. If you're ever in the area, or you need help finding games/conventions there. PM me.
3. I post with a high rate of frequency. That being said, if you guys can post 2-3 times per day, awesome. If it's only 1/day I understand. No worries. Real Life Comes First (tm).
4. Feel free to preemptively roll Perception, Disable Device, etc. It makes the game run more efficiently. I ask only that you make sure minis are placed in their actual position in case your choices have consequences (good or bad.)
5. Let's get started:
Player Name:
PC Name:
PFS#:
Faction:
Day Job: Feel free to roll now.
Perception and vision/senses:
Initiative:
Notes: Anything I should know; passive abilities, boons that are way out there, etc. If you have abilities that are immediate actions that interrupt an enemy, I'll be as fair as possible, but you can help me out by telling me under what conditions you typically use it.
----------------------------------------------
Some expectations in my games:
That's about it! Looking forward to the game!

When he makes a save and uses his charmed life, his Cape of Daring Deeds brings his total additional bonus to +5(extra +2 from cloak and +3 from CHA). The extra +2 lasts for 1 round if further saves are needed.
Aelwynd also has a weapon cord on his rapier. It is never far from his hand. :)

Sielan |
Player Name: Joshua Blazej
PC Name: Sielan
PFS#: 2104-4
Faction: Liberty's Edge
Day Job: None
Perception and vision/senses: +10; normal
Initiative: +1
Notes: I have two sets of armor I swap between for the purpose of spell-casting with an Armiger's Panoply. The light set of armor has spell-storing property on it. I'll let you know during combat if I have any intent to use the spell in the upcoming round, otherwise I will not be using it.
Solomon Goodman |
Player Name: Aaron Poehls
PC Name: Solomon Goodman
PFS#: 4249-2
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: Perform (Wind): 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (14) + 21 = 35
Perception and vision/senses: -1; Darkvision
Initiative: +1
Notes: Oh boy... here we go. Hi! I'm a Skald! My performance makes everyone rage if they want to. As soon as I start my performance, everyone can decide if they wish to rage or not. Every round at the beginning of their turn, everyone can decide (again) if they wish to rage or not. Ending rage does NOT cause fatigue. If you are raging, you cannot cast spells as per usual, however you will get my rage powers for the duration of your rage. I give out the following:
Rage bonuses: +4 Str, +4 Con, +3 to Will Saves, -1 AC
Raging Leaper: +11 to acrobatics checks made to jump
Raging Flier: Once per rage, gain a fly speed equal to your land speed for 1 round. If you end in the air you'll fall to the ground at the end of the turn. As a note, I cycle my rage often in order to maximize use of this for everyone.
Bestial Leaper: You may take a standard action in the middle of your move. Basically flyby attack.
Skald's Vigor: Fast healing 4. This does NOT get maintained during a lingering performance.
Discordant Voice: Everyone in the area of my performance WHETHER OR NOT YOU ACCEPT IT adds 1d6 sonic damage to your weapon attacks.
I have lingering performance and harmonic spell, so I'll rage cycle often to stretch things out. I'll basically always use my performance, and don't feel bad about not accepting it, but if you ever need to fly or get some spot healing in, accept it for a round and smash someone's face in.
I have a Poet's Cloak that allows me to use a +2 bard's song, or swap my rage powers out for Lesser Celestial Totem. Lesser Celestial Totem adds my level (11) to all healing you receive while you're raging and under the effects of this totem. I frequently use it alongside Path of Glory in order to heal the entire party for a massive amount. I can be a healer... except for the things that matter. I have no access to restoration/lesser restoration. If anyone can prepare some of those... that'd be great. Otherwise I'll support Caduceus in the HP dept.
Lastly, I use Timely Inpiration, Gallant Inspiration, and Saving Finale frequently. On each of my turns I'll either give conditions under which I'll use a Finale, or I'll simply say that anyone who wants one should claim it on their turn when they make a roll that they don't like. Remember, it's an immediate action, so only 1 per round.
Saving Finale: Reroll a save
Timely Inpsiration: +2 to a check after you see the roll but before the GM announces the effect.
Gallant Inspiration: Like Timely Inspiration, but +2d4 instead of +2.
Oh yeah... I'm not DPS fiend, but I will rage, walk up to things, and poke them with a polearm.
For everyone's sanity, on each of my turns I'll do my best to post a summary of active buffs for the round. Between spells and performance bonuses things get a bit out of hand sometimes.
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
Love that Armiger's Panoply Sielan! I have not heard of that before today. I know at least one character of mine what would seek that out.
Great information Solomon. Aelwynd ran with a skald in his last excursion for the Society and the rage song, while not the same as yours, saved his life. There are times when I would definitely make use of it.
As a side note for things Aelwynd does in combat, he may antagonize an opponent, to either fluster them or to pull them off someone and through the paths of others so as to provoke attacks of opportunity. He also uses his maneuverability to get into flanks when possible, even if that means he provokes because it gives him a chance to use his parry/riposte for a sort of attack on the run. I will post that in a spoiler when/if it comes up.
When not in combat he prefers to use diplomacy to solve situations, but when diplomacy seems to be unlikely and intimidation might work better, he isn't afraid to toss in a disarming threat to get what he wants.
He has been on Plunder & Peril and some of the Skull and Shackles adventures so, while unlikely to come up, he is used to functioning in water and with cutthroats. He has a variety of things he can use disrepute for and I will update his sheet here with all of those in a spoiler under boons(some boons are there already.)
I think it is time we started role playing to get to know one another over in the game play tab. That way when the game starts we have been introduced to each other already. I've been on an adventure with a few people here already, so it should be an easy transition.
Sielan |
I do like the Panoply as it is probably my character defining item. A bit costly but has a pretty unique effect.
I will likely make use of the rage, but as I'm allegedly a wizard, I will always declare when I accept rage at the start of my turn.
Nachts Lemarchand |
So I just combed through my boons. There are some that have trait to Hellknight - Pathfinder interactions, and all of the Bonekeep boons (without going into spoilers), but there did not seem to be anything that caught my eyes.
Sielan |
With the stoneskin and spell turning I'm trying to plan out who I should cast them on when the time comes.
I was considering Nachts for stoneskin although I feel I can make an argument for anyone in the party.
For spell turning, I'm not certain at all. But it also has the added issue of disrupting our own spell casting. Spell turning doesn't block all spells, but it does effect a lot of various spells. It doesn't stop spells with a range of 'touch' (like invisibility or cure spells, but as far as Sielan, it would stop him from being able to cast haste or liberating command on the character with spell turning. Would anyone be exceptionally hampered by a party member with spell turning and does anyone want this spell cast on them?
Nachts Lemarchand |
I wouldn't want spell turning as I rely mostly on spells to get my wheels spinning.
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
No spell turning for Aelwynd then as I would want haste or liberating command when/if it is cast I am sure. I will manage somehow.
As for stoneskin, I think Nachts is a good choice. He packs a wicked punch when he gets that weapon spinning and he will always be in combat so I can see him being a prime target.
Ariana is another good choice for stoneskin as she gets up close and personal as well.
I on the other hand will be hopefully harder to hit, and even though I may pull an opponent to me on occasion, I try to parry/riposte when they get an attack so it is like an extra chance to miss me.
Solomon Goodman |
Considering my use of Saving Finale, Liberating Command, and Gallant Inspiration, I suspect Spell Turning would do more harm than good to just about anyone here. I'd probably recommend you hold onto it Sielan, since if it seems like it would be good for an imminent situation, you're probably the only one here who can cast it.

This weekend I am traveling and I expect to be pretty busy. It's a last minute trip about buying a new house. I will be able to post, but infrequently until the evenings.
Sielan |
Usually I wait until the end to post stuff like this, but I wanted to make sure I was clear on my feelings past any snark I might give Sheila.
I love the group that I've found myself with, I'm really enjoying the way that you are running the encounters and am thankful to be at your table DM, and I am liking the adventure.
My stance on Sheila is in this adventure is hard for me to write out in small amount of words. In summary, it would be that my experience with Season 4 is unusual and I'm more inclined to roll with the challenges the scenario offers without a lot of worry.
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
Wow! Congratulations!
Nachts Lemarchand |
Congratulations!
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
Hey Soloman! How is the happy life of parenthood treating you two? Getting any sleep?
In game related commentary, I am having a great time with this game. I like the role playing challenge. It's fun and different. Sure there's the perception of a bit of thuggery but it has people giving that extra effort in their character's posts.
How long(in game time, not real world time) do we expect the auction to take? I ask in case we decide to buff before, during or even at all.
Solomon Goodman |
Getting sleep, just that much of it is during the day when he opts to sleep. Getting used to everything still, but each day I feel more and more confident. Or at least I'm getting better at lying to myself about it. Either way works for me!
Loving this party by the way. The scenario is amusing, and I'm having fun expressing my disgust towards Sheila whenever possible. Not every day I have an excuse to mouth off to a VC. Except for maybe Serpent's Rise...
Caduceus Via |
My favorite part of being a new parent was reading through the owner's manual. They DID give you the owner's manual didn't they?
Ariana-Fighter |
I will be away from good computer access this weekend starting tomorrow. Feel free to bot me as needed. I may be able to post, but can't guarantee it.
Dungeon Master S |
Thanks for the heads up. We're almost at the end too. Which reminds me, speak up if you're going slow track!
Dungeon Master S |
I'm going to roll boons now. I'll use the initiative quickpost order with the GM as the enemy. One or 20 wins.
Enemy: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Nachts: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Solomon: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Sielan: 1d20 ⇒ 10
Aelwynd: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Caduceus: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Ariana: 1d20 ⇒ 18
Sigh, no boon winners.
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
Darn it all. Well I had a boon just being in this group so I still came out a winner. Cheers folks and back to the fight!
Dungeon Master S |
The pleasure was all mine. It has the added benefit of being my 250th Pathfinder table GMed! I'm really glad it was an awesome group!
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
WOW! Congratulations! That is a huge accomplishment and it's great to have been a part of it! WTG!

250 Pathfinder games... wow! I think I'm about 200 shy of that.
It's always a pleasure playing at your tables, and in fact my run of the Deepmarket Deception was the game that more or less defined how I GM my PbP tables, or at least how I try to. One of these days I hope to get you at one my my tables as a player, although until I'm a bit more settled into this daddy business I'm refraining from GMing for a bit.
This whole party has been an awesome display of teamwork and characters, and I've thoroughly the game. Now let's rip up some Lissala-damned monsters until the timer runs out!
Caduceus Via |
This has been a privilege for me. Getting to play with both an accomplished GM and a table full of fun and considerate players. Only been doing pbp for a year or so, but am happy to have found Flaxseed. Such a great community! Thanks for being such a great place to play!
Nachts Lemarchand |

Thank you all for bearing with Nachts, and thank you for GMing a rough special. I understand why there was so much hate for Sheila Heidmarch now. A shame, she's really a nice VC insofar as those come and go.
And congrats on the 250 tables!
Dungeon Master S |
Thanks again for the table, the congratulations, and everything else.
I'll leave the thread open until the weekend or you guys confirm no changes need to be made. (you can always contact me after if need be.)
Aelwynd Swiftblade |
Not sure why, but when I look at the chronicles there are lots of unfilled information, such as our names and numbers and the gold earned. I can add those things in, but I was just wondering if I was supposed to or not? Anyone else have that stuff show up?
Had a great time with this group and I hope to play with you folks again soon.
Sielan |
It didn't show up for me either. I wasn't sure exactly, but I the one bit I was most curious about was the gold total. It isn't a major issu as I was also planning on filling that stuff on my end.
Dungeon Master S |
Is your PFS number in the slot? That's the key. If that' snot there I'll fix it. I tried a new method of handling the pdfs, and I might have missed a step. If your PFS number is in the right spot, you can fill the rest.
