Dungeon Master S
Ushyle dashes over to the thick of it!
The drake turns its attention on Hamilton, who presents the obvious danger with the agressive approach:
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Tail Slap: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
but the ranger is ready for combat!
both men covered in mucus continue to burn Acid: 1d4 ⇒ 3 Scraping is a full round action
slam: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Raen Varkath
Already, Raen can feel the link binding the elemental to this plane weakening. Should I call another? She regrets not giving her summoned servant instructions to notify if the fight is finished. No matter -- there is still another drake to attend to here.
She hurries to the stairs.
Dungeon Master S
Raen hustles up. The party begins to close in on the remaining drake.
Round 4
Vael: Scrape

Ushyle
Ushyle clambers over the ballista at the ship's fore, maneuvering outside the reach of the drake and getting into a flanking position with Ham. He still has his bow in hand, but he is trained to brawl with his hands and feet as needed...
boot to the head, flank: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 2 = 23
dmg, sneak attack: 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (2, 6) = 14
Dungeon Master S
Ushyle's attack is more than the drake can handle. With a loud CRACK it falls dead on the deck.
Bloodtusk nods approvingly from the aft.
Drake: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19 for 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 1) + 7 = 9
Drake: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Bloodtusk's approval doesn't last long. "We be needin' that horse! I'm going to weigh anchor. You boys gave that overgrown fish a good lickin'. I'm sure you can finish it off!"
For defeating two drakes aboard the keelboat each character receives 267 XP.
Vael Oakfist
Sensing some urgency, Vael acts quickly to close his wounds. "Spirits, tend ta me poor soul..." the shaman's voice trails off into a quiet chant, eyes solid black as positive energy flows from his hand.
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 7) + 3 = 16
He then goes over to Doxon and repeats the process for him.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
"Let's go."
Dungeon Master S
Once you're ready to disembark, place your minis on the shore of the new tactical map.
Hamilton Renaud
Ham is anxious to get off the boat--he can't stand the thought of losing a horse to the drake. He's the first off, and hits the ground, sword in hand.
Dungeon Master S
Slam: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Slam: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15 DMG: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Alpha: 58
Ushyle
Ushyle makes a point of grabbing his greataxe before disembarking, close behind ham. He has the axe in hand as he kneels beside the the massive skeleton outside the cave.
Take 10 on Heal (result is 13) to determine how long this skeleton has been here.
Dungeon Master S
The pungent odor of fish entrails permeates the air near an open cave mouth. The beach outside the cave is littered with the remains of several marine animals, including the bleached skeleton of an immense crocodile. The area is eerily quiet and devoid of wildlife. Ushyle confirms that the massive crocodile skeleton has been there for many many years...
The sound of the horse neighing in the cave is heartening, but it clearly is in a panic.
Alpha: 59
Dungeon Master S
Screen: 1d20 ⇒ 14
From the shore you hear the drake in pain. The sound comes from deeper in the cave than the horse. You know that you dealt serious blows to the beast, and who knows what the elemental did....
The screech becomes a roar as the drake hears movement outside the cave...
Drake: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Raen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Ushyle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Vael: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Doxon: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Hamilton: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Dungeon Master S
Forebodingly, the drake goes silent...
Round 1:

Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go
Alpha: 58
Raen Varkath
Raen frowns and shakes her head. "You have until I finish casting my spells. Then I follow."
Again threads of force thread over the Varisian's torso. Scarcely wasting a moment, she follows behind the halfling. She pauses only to adjust to the dim interior of the cave and makes no attempt at stealth.
Standard to cast, then move action for Round 1. I am disinclined to impinge upon WP's fun, but I am also disinclined to wait for the drake to eat the horse. If I can see the horse and ready MM for Round 2, I'll stop there and cover the halfling.
Ushyle
Ushyle follows behind the halfling, greataxe in hand. He is a few steps behind so as to keep from cramping the little one's style. Still, he listens closely for any sign of trouble...
Take 10 on Perception for 19.
Dungeon Master S
Whistle Pig creeps closer, though Raen and Ushyle follow with less than a light step. Ushyle can hear the drake's heavy breathing not far around the corner...
Round 1:
Drake: ???
Whistle Pig: Move
Vael: Go
Raen: Cast
Ushyle: Move
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go

Doxon hustles along and keeps up with Raen.
Vael Oakfist
"Tulia, find tha danger. But quietly," Vael asks his familiar. With a nod, she takes off as quiet as can be.
Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (15) + 19 = 34
Vael then moves up to be by Raen (double move).
Dungeon Master S
The party splits their approach. Hamilton leads the charging style, with a stealthy Whistle Pig next to him. Once by the horse a MASSIVE glob of acidic mucus comes their way!
Hamilton and WP need to make a REF DC 17 check for half damage and avoiding the entangled condition DMG: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 7) = 12.
The drake makes its presence known and looks like he's going to pounce on Hamilton!
Round 2:
Drake: Spit
Whistle Pig: Go
Vael: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Go
Alpha: 58
Doxon Greyforge
Doxon calls on the Favor of Torag and rushes forward.
Fervor Swift cast Divine Favor and double move.
Hamilton Renaud
Reflex Save:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Hamilton is so focused on the horse, that he fails, completely, to avoid the glob of acidic goo as it strikes him full on. His scream comes out as a gurgle as he spits out sticky globs of burning phlegm, and his eyes, face, mouth, and throat burn.
Dungeon Master S
Doxon prepares for battle, and can see plainly that the drake is on death's door from his wounds.
Round 2:
Drake: Spit
Whistle Pig: Go
Vael: Go
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Buff and charge

Vael Oakfist
Hearing the mucous fly from the drake, Vael curses. "Tulia, to me!"
Tulia, aware of the danger in being a tiny bird, flies back to the shaman. She lands on her usual spot atop his left shoulder.
Vael then places a hand on his symbol to Desna and begins a chant, willing the spirits of nature to aid him. He gets the sense that they're listening...
Summon Nature's Ally
Dungeon Master S
The drake doesn't seem to notice the thrush, but nevertheless Vael calls her back and begins a complex spell.
Round 2:
Drake: Spit
Whistle Pig: Go
Vael: Cast
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Go
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Buff and charge

Dungeon Master S
Whistle Pig's bullet flies just wide! Ushyle channels the power of Milani
Round 2:
Drake: Spit
Whistle Pig: Miss
Vael: Cast
Raen: Go
Ushyle: Bless
Hamilton: Go
Doxon: Buff and charge
Alpha: 58
Raen Varkath
Raen is surprised that the drake still breathes, considering the condition it left in. Intent on covering both her allies and the horse, she advances as far as she dares and readies to summon her magic once more.
Ready to cast Magic Missile: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 2) + 2 = 7 as soon as I have line of sight.
Dungeon Master S
Raen's magic missiles are too much for the horribly injured drake. On contact it falls dead in the cave. While nervous, the warhorse calms down considerably.
For defeating the Alpha Drake (who had 3 HP when you arrived), you each gain 267 XP, and additionally, for saving the warhorse, you each gain a bonus of 100 XP.
Dungeon Master S
Whistle Pig searches the lair. Among the detritus he finds a veritable treasure trove!
All treasure is within Raen's Take 10
mud-caked +1 buckler, a masterwork light pick, an elixir of swimming, an oil of f lame arrow, a potion of resist energy (electricity), a scroll of spear of purity, 11 pp, 40 gp, 70 sp, and a bloodstone worth 50 gp.
Dungeon Master S
Hamilton, it doesn't take you long, but you do take an additional 1d4 ⇒ 3 before you get it scraped off.
Raen Varkath
"Finally," Raen sighs. She picks the potion of resist energy (electricity) out from under a few coins, which clink softly onto the stone floor of the cavern. "This will be quite useful up ahead. Will-o'-wisps are said to give a terrible shock to all passersby. Perhaps one of the less... magically inclined members of our band would like to hold onto it?"
Good pick for a melee type.
Vael Oakfist
Vael pulls out his newly purchased wand, and doles out a bit of healing.
For Hamilton...
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
For Whistle Pig...
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Whistle Pig

WP didn't even notice his injuries, but thanks Vael for the magical help.
After he inspect the cave, Pig makes his way over to the body of the drake and finds where his bullet hit the drake. He takes out his dagger and carefully removes one of the damaged scales. He inspects it and puts a small hole into it. He makes sure the edges are smooth before he added his new prize next to the giant's bead.
" wonder if there is any value in the hide of this beast. Dragon scales have value and this is a kind of dragon. What do ya'll think?
Raen Varkath
"More a lizard than a dragon. Hide is too thin," Earn scoffs with a chuckle.
