Ushyle
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
Dispatching the vicious bear with alacrity, Ushyle tries to avoid repercussions as he moves into a potential flank with Doxon, but he slips on a bit of blood on the floor and leaves himself exposed to a blow from Black. AC 20 due to haste.
Dungeon Master S
Ushyle's killing of the bear elicits a monstrous yell from the stoneskined stone giant! The guard swings ATK: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (19) + 16 = 35 and hits him hard for DMG: 2d8 + 12 ⇒ (3, 6) + 12 = 21
Raen's attempt at dispelling the magical protection fails spectacularly.

WP tries his best to thin the ranks. The magic user is the biggest threat. A focused effort will be needed.

Insect, am I? Then BEWARE MY STING!
Heartspit Charge!(ride by attack):1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22
The lance bounces off as he rides by and Hamilton laughs.
Lots more to come, Giant. I've barely begun.
Dungeon Master S
The giant is extremely frustrated with the riding foe:
Doxon Greyforge
Doxon rushes forward and imbues Agrimmosh with Holy Strike
Vael Oakfist
With one giant left, Vael moves to threaten any retreat. Double move
Dungeon Master S
Doxon and Vael close while Hamilton misses by a half-spear length.
The stone giant gives a laugh. "A squishy dwarf without a tin can on him? How could I not?!"

As the giant swings, Doxon's training allows him to dodge under the mighty blow. As he recovers his footing and readies to attack, his eyes cast down on his fallen brother-in-arms.

Ham wheels AJ around laughing, like this is all tremendous sport. As he comes about, he sees Ushyle, the stuffy git who talks like he's Ham's Dad, crushed by rapid blows from the flaming warhammer. Ham's breath catches and the laughter dies and Ham feels the final hammer blow in his gut. He lets out a whisper.
Ush...?
There's a ringing in Ham's ears and the sounds of the skirmish are dulled. It's at times like this that he feels like he hears Mom. But this time, it's Dad's voice in his ears.
...When life loses it's value, and taken for naught, then The Pact is to...
Ham screams, and thunders across the stones, easily guiding Applejack into a small leap over his fallen friend as he lowers the lance and thrusts down as he glides over the half-orc.

Raen's breath is stolen, the words to her next spell ripped from her breast. Ushyle.
She knows of magic that can bring one back from such a wound, but she also knows that it is beyond her power. She must do what she can to save the others.
She sprints over to the dwarves and weaves a spell from memory alone. Invisibility Sphere, using bonded object. This qualifies as an emergency, right?
Raen, Vael, and Doxon are now invisible.

"PATHETIC COWARDS!" The giant swings his head around, looking for a target for his rage.
Hamilton works. He charges with his hammer:

Doxon immediately loses the spell as he swings with The Hammer of Unmaking. Unable to see the strike, it lands on the giant's lower spine.
The giant still charges Hamilton. He swings as Hamilton brings Heartspit to bear. The giant's flaming hammer breaks a few ribs.
Hamilton pierces the giant's heart.
With a thud he falls, his massive hammer ringing like a cathedral bell.
For slaying the mighty Urathash with his personal guard, all characters, living and dead, earn 4,267 XP.
Vael Oakfist
Vael arrives a second or two after Whistle Pig. He kneels down to look over the gaping wound, his knees immediately soaked in blood. He grabs the half-orc's wrist to check for a pulse. "No..." The dwarf's voice trails away. He looks at his small, stone-slinging friend, and shakes his head.
Tulia flutters over, landing back on the shaman's shoulder. "Sad," she says, then lets out a mournful trill. "It doesn't have to end for Ushyle though. There's a way to bring him back. And you could do it, Vael."
"I've nae got that in me, Tulia. Ye ken this," Vael says.
"Not in the... traditional sense, no. But form and soul are two different things. If you are willing to let the Spirits decide form, and they are wise enough to know best, then you can call him back from Pharasma's domain."
The dwarf is silent a moment, then breathes out a deep sigh. "I need ta rest."
Raen Varkath
Raen dismisses the invisibility sphere with a quiet word and moves to stand beside Whistle Pig, pulling him close. Tears fall freely down both cheeks, though she does not sob. "No, little one," she murmurs, a deep and aching sadness clear in her voice, "he is gone. Gone to meet Pharasma."
The sight of Ushyle's lifeless body, rising out the growing stream of his own lifeblood, is more than she can bear. She closes her eyes and hugs the halfling closer still.
Vael Oakfist
"He be dead, aye. But if I ken git some rest thar may be somethin' I ken try. I kinna guarantee that it'll work. It's taxin' on tha soul. But Ushyle be.. was tough. Tulia and I will need ta prepare for it though. We need ta rest."
Vael stands up, then looks to Doxon and Hamilton. "What do ye think? Ken this place be fortified? Be thar a place we ken hide? Do we need ta retreat?"
Raen Varkath
Raen chokes out a chuckle between tears. "Magic makes a better fortress than wood or stone," she replies to Vael. "I can make this place safe."
His suggestion scares her. The dwarf is strange, and his patrons stranger. She knows not what powers he intends to call, but she is certain it is no magic she knows.
Ushyle. The half-orc sturdy, stoic form stands before her in her mind's eye, clean of the gore that wrecks him now. She shudders, and takes a deep breath to step towards the body. Even in death his face, bloody and matted, is fair and smooth. She kneels beside his head, bends to him to kiss his forehead and close his eyes.
Shedding a single new tear, she rises and turns to her work.
I can seal us into the alcove with a wall of stone, or we can use double-watches, or both. I only need two hours' sleep.

Remember there are stairs up and you don't know what's there (and if it's a fight, triggering it would be bad I'm assuming.) I'll allow you to fortify here.
When you look over at Ushyle's fallen body, you see that it now rests on a soft bed of crimson rose petals. Somehow you each know that tonight you'll be safe....

WP helps with cleaning the body of Ushyle with a mix of grim determination and abject grief. After he seemed more like WP thought he should, he sits quietly with the group for a LONG while, well a long while to the halfling anyway. He slides up to Raen,"I can't sit anymore. Can I go look around the room? I promise not to leave this room and i'll be quiet. You don't have remove the stone wall. I found something out about this new cloak of mine. I can let me move through stone! it's quite an interesting feeling. I haven't tried to go all the way through one yet, but it seems like a good place to try."
