I do sort of like the idea of having the knife be more powerful then the sword. One or the Eberron novels had a fighter with some sort of dagger that could cut through steel. He was always using his sword to set up a killing thrust with the dagger.

Drizzt's nemesis, Artemis Entreri, wielded a sword and dagger. The dagger was his main weapon, really, as it was enchanted with something like Vampiric Touch. I don't recall anything special about the sword.

The trio of beasts bursts forward with unnatural speed. Their freakishly long fingers extend towards half the party. With murder in their eyes they seek the soft throats of their targets; Gaius, Odric, then Sandor.

    Attacking Gaius:
    1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
    2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Two hands wrap around Gaius's throat and begin to squeeze DMG: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 = 15. Then the fingers close their grip: grab: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29. Gaius's voice cuts off instantly. Not a sound escapes his lips as the halfling sized creature strangles him.

    Attacking Odric:
    1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29 Confirmation: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
    2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17

Odric now feels the fingers: DMG: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 2) + 10 = 16. Then the fingers close their grip: grab: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20, but Odric pulls his neck away, leaving trickles of blood where the fingers almost got him.

    Attacking Sandor:
    1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
    2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

But the dwarf is too heavily defended and the creature can't find any purchase.

Then with their freakish speed the creatures retreat...

    Odric.

    King of Korvosa

    Round the First

Odric is alarmed by the Lacrities and fearful of the freakishly long fingers. When he wrenched free of their grasping strength he shuddered involuntarily with revulsion.

He steps forward to align himself with the thing's arms. 5' step to T2 and search the entire square for John Connor

The Kegerator flips upwards with the edge high and nicks the creature's arm as it strangles Gaius. When the creature reacts to the superficial nick with a slight cringe and recoil, Odric whips the Kegerator around in a lightning-fast circle, sending it screaming down at the thing's extended forearms. If he is able to sever them, Odric wonders if they will continue to strangle Gaius.

    Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 11 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 11 + 1 = 24 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 + 6 + 1 = 22 damage.

The magically enraged Odric hacks again at the arms, trying to save Gaius from certain death.

    Power Attack (Furious Focus) with MW Keen Falchion +1: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 1 = 9 for 2d4 + 10 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 3) + 10 + 6 + 1 = 22 damage.

Breathing the smell in his small brain now targets the smell as his prey. A low growl erupts and then the dog's powerful legs are twitching and Bucho is running forward to attack.

The room is slightly colapsed in the corner. It looks as though it's been left alone to fall to ruin. The smell is musky, like city based fauna have been using for living space. The room is otherwise barren. Morkeleb picks up an aura in the vicinity of the exposed corner. It's faint and coming from a large bag. Gaius carefully examines the bag and determines it is safe. The bag is made of leather and contains a maze of near circular depressions in the neck of the bag. You're fairly sure this is the work of the choker's handling the bag and its contents. Not noticing any traps, Gaius opens the bag.

The bag contains 44 Sails, 3 crowns, a single silk glove inset with tiny pearls on the back of the hand worth about 250 sails according to your Enchanter, a masterwork hand crossbow, and a copper wand that Morkeleb identifies as a Wand of Slow (13 charges).

Is there any place we haven't seen yet, from what we can tell? It's hard to discern from the map whether there are doors/passageways, or if it's just rubble...

I do not have access to the map here. But I know there are rooms you haven't checked.

Odric checks with the companions and if there are no objections sets up outside the next unexplored room. He, Sandor, Grym and Bucho wait until Morkeleb and Ferox are ready, then Odric nods to Gaius for the "all clear."

Assuming all is clear, the plan is to charge in weapons drawn - again sorry for being completely distracted all week!

Gaius FaRTs at the door on O5, while Sandor protects at the top of the stairs.

[ooc]on the map I put an x in each room that we have been in.

I undid some Xs, as you haven't been in some of those rooms.

To be clear - we are entering the room with Square O5 next. (north of Gaius)

wow I'm sorry I swear we didn't leave any door unopened. Upon review, the "Across the Hall" from Gaius was over ridden. So my apologies, I was foiled by a dog's nose leading us to the chokers :D Good BUCHO!! Lets not forget the unopened door. after we clear this room.

Gaius doesn't fart. He passes gas. And it smells like perfume.

Perception 14. I check the next door.
