Reporting for duty for part 2! And yes, I can do (at least) daily posts. Just can't post much (if at all) during work hours.

GM Brute Squad |

Thanks for letting us know!
Well, it looks like we may need a couple more to fill the party then. I will wait to hear from the other two characters until Wednesday, and then open a recruitment thread to fill whatever spots we have left. Since that will take some time this week, and I am camping this weekend, I will plan on having the party set by the end of the week and open up the gameplay thread on Monday.

Whats up guys?
Brute Squad invited me to play. Just wanted to check in and say I will write up a character tonight and be ready by midnight EST, give or take a few minutes.
Assuming 20 point buy and 2 traits?
If there are any preferences to class, I'll run anything.
Any restrictions on race, alignment?

GM Brute Squad |

It's the standard PFS character build rules outlined in the Player's Guide: 20 point buy, 2 traits, Non-evil, core races only, 150 starting gold, etc.
Paladin is a good idea, as you mentioned in your pm, but whatever you want to play really.
So, looks like we will have a full party earlier than I expected. Anyone have an objection to starting this week? I will still need to take the weekend off in any case.

jtfoto's Paladin here.
I will add all the specifics after I sleep on it and tweak the build while not sleep deprived.
Question: With Weapon Finesse, the Dex mod replaces Strength mod only on atk, correct, not damage?

As soon as we finish dealing with the after-scenario stuff of part 1 is fine with me! This is actually my first experience with organized play; so even though I've read the rules, I don't think that I'll really grok it until it's done.

GM Brute Squad |

Ok, as soon as Zedril is up and running I will open up the gameplay thread and we can start the RP portion at the beginning of the scenario. I know three of you are a couple days away from being done with part 1 (hopefully), but that should not be much of an issue. You should have plenty of time to wrap that up and do your purchasing before we get into the first combat.

GM Brute Squad |

I feel I should note a couple of things about the way I run scenarios, as they could be slightly different than you are use to.
I am a Plot driven GM. This means I enjoy the banter of role play and character interaction, but I won’t hold up the scenario for you to finish a side conversation, or if you are not posting in a timely fashion. I will move on without you in the interests of time and keeping everyone else’s attention.
When we start combat, I will roll Initiative for everyone. This will save us about a day in real time because we won’t need to wait for everyone to post and will allow us to jump right into combat. PBPs are inherently slow, so I like to avoid easy things that can speed up play. I may also roll saves for you if the roll is necessary for resolving an action against you.
In combat I will ask for multiple people to post their actions, then resolve them in initiative order. This will lessen the time we are waiting for a particular character to post. You may post multiple actions if your action depends on another that comes before you. I also may ask for confirmation on an action you have already posted if the circumstances have changed significantly since the time you posted it. This may sound confusing, but I think it will work well once we get in the swing of things.
Please let me know if you have any question on these items, or any other suggestions on how to speed up our PBP play.

I'm good to go, all my info is posted in my profile.
Just adding the minor equipment now.

![]() |

If there's a block of PCs with no NPCs in-between, then it might be easier to resolve their actions in post order instead of initiative order. Less complicated, and not much practical difference that I can see. (Just waiting until after someone posts, instead of delaying to their initiative count.)
ETA: I'll hit that gameplay thread tomorrow (Wednesday) night, when I can make a better impression than when I should already be in bed. ;)

Should I read Part 1?
I have the download. Is it pertinent to the story line?

GM Brute Squad |

No, the stories are completely separate. There is nothing from Part 1 that you need to know for Part 2.
What you need to know in general is that the Intro series is designed to introduce you to all of the Pathfinder venture-captains, so you will meet a few in this one. Also, there are no faction missions because it is assumed that you have not chosen a faction yet. But it’s still fine if you know what you want to do already.

GM Brute Squad |

Ok, I’m signing off for the weekend, back on Sunday night. Feel free to continue to post. Just don’t leave the Festival, and don’t burn the house down. When I return we’ll start moving along as quickly as we are able, and maybe, just maybe, we'll have heard from Dasiji by then. :)

![]() |

Who knew that all it takes to deal with an invisible devil is a set of strong, high-quality Osirion bedsheets? I should thank Kehl for showing me the way. With that thought, Dasiji finishes folding the exotic boudoir accessories and placing them in his pack. Not for real... or is it?!

![]() |

Honestly, one of the best things I've taken from playing other RPGS is that a standard attack doesn't necessarily represent the only course of action, and usualy not the most fun or even logical. I try and apply that to games I'm in and run just because it's far more entertaining and makes for a better story than 'I move/Attacked a goblin to death, wheeee!'
as far as the drunk thing... he's kind of super serial otherwise, so why not?

GM Brute Squad |

Each of you individually can buy the items on the sheet, and you can buy as many of them as you want to as long as there is not a listed limit. Nothing on the the In Service to Lore sheet has a limit.
Quintus, am I reading this right, you currently have the equivalent of 425 gold? I take it you decided not to purchase anything? Or is that 42pp supposed to be 2PP?
Kehl, you didn’t buy much either?
You guys know that there is a list of always available items, right? So you could go out and buy a Masterwork Weapon or something if you want too.
Also, since you now have 2 PP, you can trade it for a single item with a market value up to 750 gold. A Wand of Cure Light Wounds for example or Dasiji might be interested in a Masterwork Composite Longbow with a +2 STR rating.
I’m not sure how much experience you all have with PFS, so I thought I would throw a couple ideas out there, just incase.

![]() |

That is interesting. I will be picking your brain when I get to that point as well Brute Squad.
I find the guide a bit difficult to follow for the reward area.

GM Brute Squad |

@Quintus, No. You can just list them as items purchased on this Chronicle.
You all may go shopping before you set out to the Cairnlands. I was trying to hint that in the gameplay thread, but this should make it perfectly obvious.
They are coming out with a new version of the guide shortly that is supposed to be easier to read.

GM Brute Squad |

By the end of the First Steps series, every character should spend 2PP on a Wand of Cure Light Wounds, even if they can’t use it themselves, to assist the party healer. It’s a common courtesy thing for organized play.
If the why to the previous statement is not clear, say so and I will expound, or you can look at one of the threads in the PFS discussion forum that talk about it.

Just noticed and fixed a mistake where some skill bonuses were listed before taking the armor check penalty into account, and others after. (My mistake from the prettifying process, not Hero Lab's.) Now they're all standardized on the post-ACP bonus.
