BACKGROUND:

Kehl grew up an orphan in Riddleport. The other children called him "Trembles" because of how his hands would shake when he was frightened. His defense against the bullying was to run and hide, but one day he lashed out at his tormenter, clutching a rock in his hand. Terrified, he ran farther and longer than he had run before until the dawn crept over the horizon. He didn't remember finding his hiding spot, but he noticed hsi hands were no longer shaking.

He awoke hours later to the creaking of wood and rope, and the gentle rocking of a ship at sea. The captain could have cast him into the sea, or worse, but instead, Kehl worked for his passage to Absalom.

Kehl disembarked there, and started anew, by falling in with the Sczarni crime families. He grew up as a pick-pocket and sneak thief. When he finally tired of that life, he joined the Pathfinder Society, seeking shelter from the Sczarni.
