Dragonlance: Heroes of a New Age

Game Master Shalafi2412

What came before...:

Six months have passed since the War of Souls, an epic conflict that spanned the world of Krynn. After 39 years when the Gods have been silent and magic flowed unrestrained by the Moons, the Gods of Krynn have returned. The first among the Light, Paladine walks the earth as a mortal, while the Dark Queen Takhisis lies dead, leaving their places vacant among the heavens. Ansalon still bears scars of the decades where evil reigned upon the world in the Godless times. The Dark Knights of Neraka still subjugate numerous lands and the wicked minotaurs have begun a campaign of conquest. Many among the righteous and good have suffered in the Age of Mortals. Solamina's forces are weakened by the war, the elves are in exile, the Kender lands burned to ash and the dwarves in ever conflict with their darker brethren. Decades ago, the Companions saved the world from the brink of ruin. Now once again, heroes must rise and bring balance back to the world. Will you be among them?

Ok Terevalis you see it in time. Seeing a drop of slime fall from the cealing he looks up quickly and sees hanging from the roof Five hideous looking monstrosities. The man sized humanoids rubbery flesh is a pasty green-white and uneven in areas of its body sprout a darker colored chitinous shell. The pours of its body ooze a green jelly-like substance polluted with black specks of dirt. It hangs lunched over raised before like a preying mantis, displaying wicked claws. The creatures have an insect-like face, tusks and a long rasp like tongue.

Also from behind some of the rubble two different looking 9 foot tall creatures, clearly a related species but stand upright and have a long spiked tail and the same preying mantis like arms of the others and likewise oozing hideous fluids from their skin. Behind them another creature emerges, dressed in tattered green robes and wearing a symbol of shadowed hood on its neck. They hiss and prepare to attack.

Defiled Elven Temple Map

Fortunately with Terevalis yelling out a warning you avoid a surprise round. Unfortunately many people were caught flat footed.

First up in the fight is the Disir Rogues. They jump out from various places hissing madly and striking with their sythe like claws. Gabriel and Jor gets flanked by 2 of the while Althea and Athola are singled out by their opponets opponents. Remember most of you except Athola are flat footed against the standard Disirs. Only

Disir 1 Claw on Gabriel: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13
Disir 2 Claw on Gabriel: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10

Disir 5 Claw on Althea: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

Alathea gets struck with one of their foul claw. Take 1d6 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + (1) + 3 = 7 Slashing damage and make a fortitude save, DC 15 or be poisoned.

Next up is the Disir Shaman, he hisses and scowls at Gabriel not liking him one bit. He moves up, utters a spell and suddenly Gabriel's vision goes blurry. Make a DC 16 or be Blinded.(Permanantly until cured). Its now Athola's turn next.

What is the postition of the moons?

Currently its the 15th Day of Spring Dawning. The White Moon is at 3/4th full (Asending), the Red moon is 3/4th full (Descending) and the Black Moon is currently at the New Moon stage (Low Sanction). I believe that means -1 to your caster level Terevalis.

Athola's moves to flank and her first blow strikes true, driving into the exposed back of the beast as black foul smelling blood flows freely from the wound and it is clearly crippled and bewildered by the strike. The Shard of Light reacts to the evil of this creature and drives in a more deadly blow. The second swing is not as accurate but the creature being staggered by the pain of the first blow fails to defend and the second strike fells the foul beast as the blade penetrates the creature's foul heart and it falls to the ground its blood pooling on the floor.

With two powerful swings Jor cleaves one of the foul creatures in twain, sending it to the ground in a bloody heap.

Gabriel flanks with Jor and attacks twice on his turn, hitting the foul beast twice but not wounding it enough to kill the monster. Still two cuts across its torso later its black foul blood flows well from its wounds.

Alathea, where are you dropping the holy smite? Remember it can harm neutral characters as well as evil characters (Although not as badly). Are you putting yourself in the radius to catch all 3 creatures in combat or are you hitting the ones that are not in combat?

Natural 20 on a save meaning he's totally unaffected by the Holy Smite. It doses not even do 1/2 damage to him

Disir Tyin 1 will save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Disir Tyin 2 will save 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

The Disir Shaman gets struck by the Holy Smite but just before he's hit there is a black flash of energy from his Medallion of Faith causing the energy to dissipate around him. It appears he had some divine intervention on his side blocked her spell.

The Tyin Disirs on the other hand unfortunately do not have such divine favor are damaged by the holy smite and blinded. They are NOT outsiders though so take only 4d8 ⇒ (5, 8, 3, 3) = 19 damage. Still the attack does sear them pretty badly.

Ok the Tyin Disirs stagger forward blindly on their turn in the direction they first saw their foes but being unable to see lack a target to actually attack so forgo doing so.

Round 2 Start

Still in a killing frenzy the remaining Disir ravage into combat after moving out of flanking positions. Gabriel gets a claw/claw/bite

Althea gets attacked next

As for the Disir Shaman, after seeing the dark miracle of his God, becomes more fanatical and turns his sights on the cleric.

He moves up and chants in his dark wicked tongue, calling upon an inky black darkness to fill the room. Terevalis you can react with your held action to try and dispel this.

You are skilled at countering the spells of others using similar spells.

Benefit: When counterspelling, you may use a spell of the same school that is one or more spell levels higher than the target spell.

Normal: Without this feat, you may counter a spell only with the same spell or with a spell specifically designated as countering the target spell.

Jor you could reach it with a 5' step so you get your second attack as well. That's why I had you move you could reach either the on i'm fighting on the one on Alathea with a 5' step.

He's using a Darkness Spell, which is the Evocation School spell

Gabriel is able to finish off the one he previously wounded with his long sword striking it down with a pair of blows. Jor moves over and hits the creature on Alathea with his sword, opening up a horrid wound on its back, causing the black blood to splatter.

Terevalis casts his dispel preventing the cleric from completing his dark spell. He looks at Terevalis understanding the common tongue he speaks by the look on his face. Still this beast is far too prideful to lower himself to speak your tongue so merely curses in his foul language which you do not understand. Despite this setback, his faith in his god is unwavering.

Jor and then Alathea strike one of these foul creatures, Jor’s sword cutting a swathe in its back while Alathea brains it across the head embedding a bit into his skull. Still these creatures seem to be rather resilient and he is able to take the assault well enough.

Athola I assume will flank with Jor and attack on the creature that is engaging her.=
Athola Attack 1: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 11 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 5 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 5 + (3, 2, 1, 1) = 20

Damage: 1d4 + 5 + 5 + 4d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 5 + (3, 3, 5, 2) = 24

With two mighty blows into the back of the creature with the shard of light the foul beast is slain as his vital organs are cut in twain with the glowing sword in her hand.

The Tyin now able to see move forward and when close enough spit out globs of acidic black bile at Athola and Gabriel

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 VS touch on Athola
1d20 + 6 - 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 6 = 19 VS touch on Gabriel

Athola avoids the attack. Unfortunately Gabriel gets covered in this foul stuff that soaks through the gaps in his armor and starts eating away at his flesh. He takes 1d6 ⇒ 4 acid damage and will take 1d6 ongoing acid damage at the start of his turn for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 rounds more until he washes the stuff with at least one gallon of water (which takes a full round action or an application of a Create Water spell)
