Can he confirm? 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 19 Ugh, I think that misses by one thanks to Jax's AC boost from Haste. Too bad the Captain still doesn't have his own masterwork sword!

Anyway, he gets one more swing: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 1

Pfft. Okay, well. A lot of effort for a mere 1d8 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 damage on Jax. (But Jax, note that you're now down a total of 22.

DM you are correct and we are in agreement. But my question was, would Cуровую not where the guard next to the captain is now so she could cast Fireball downstairs after she moves this round? That's how I understood your placing. Basically I was in the way of the guard so he could no have entered because I was in the square of the door and I am an opponent.

Wait -- Zimu has posted, but I don't think she declared her Round Two action? (Surprise was a Daze, and Round 1 was a Scorching Ray.)

Zimu -- the guard is still by the door but he can't AoO you going through, because he just handed his sword to the Captain.

(Well, unless he has unarmed strike. Heh.)

I was counting her contingent post above, looks like she want to move to the top of the stairs and blast the guards...

Female Aasimar Wizard 6 (HP 53/53; AC 18/18/15; CMD 16 Fort +5; Ref +7 Will +8; Init +3; Perception +11; Darkvision 60 ft)

Please see Cуровую actions.

Before the surprise round, move at least 5 feet way from the captain towards the golem as she Mage Hand the tarp cover away to shows off the golem the and make sure the golem sees any actions made by the captain or the cleric.

Round 1 move to the door but trying to draw attacks of opportunity from the captain and the cleric so that golem activates and keeping an eye on the damage done by the captain to the lab for the same reasons. From the doorway she cast Scorching Ray. Her placing prevents the guard from linking up with the captain as she occupies the door entry.

Round 2 will complete the move for possible Fireball and act depending on DM's placing. Right now a guard should be blocking her as she blocked him.

The golem activated and reacted to Dren who was doing less than the captain seems to be doing currently.

Judge I did not know you could not Summon creatures in groups, I thought it wold only dismiss Morsum, not each previous Summons. Is that because you are a Summoner? The regular spell does not act that way.

If he summons lesser creatures he has a chance of bringing in more 1d3.

A guard is not blocking you. The guard was next to the door, not blocking it. He would have gotten an AoO on anyone going through the door, but he gave his sword to Captain Varning. I've said that twice now.

DM how did the guard walk through Cуровую if she was blocking the square of the doorway? I am saying she was blocking him from entering. She acted BEFORE him in round 1.

I meant multiple Summons. Like Summon Monster I while Summon Monster II was still operating.

DM, I don't want to hold up actions, but just to be clear, how did the guard walk through Cуровую occupied square - (sorry, I will try to use game terminology but I apologize it is not my strong point) if she was blocking the square of the doorway?

I am just trying to figure that part out, she was trying to leave the room, I am saying she was blocking him from entering. She acted BEFORE him in round 1.

Are you quite sure you want to be there in the door? I missed that, so I'll let you reconsider.

Wizard 5 (HP 36/44; AC 18/18/15; CMD 15 Fort +3; Ref +4; Will +6; Init +3; Perception +10; Darkvision 60 ft)

I accidentally wrote over my post when I hit edit and not reply :(

I don't want to hold you up, my main concern was Cуровую as the magister was blocking guards from entering his rooms. She was in the first square of room 39 just diagonal north and west from the digital number representing '39'.

Benefit, the captain would have no weapon. Drawback, possibly the guard will attack the 'magister'.

Just place Cуровую where she would be logically, since you already rolled and the guard got through the doorway, assume an intelligent placing for her and tell me where I would have been. I thought the 'magister' was just outside the doorway in the first square of room 39, by the door trying to move again to make it to get a Fireball this second round.

Cуровую still looks like the magister.

Okay, you were blocking the door on your initiative in Round One.

In that case, the guard who took a withdraw action in Round One will not do that. Instead, he will charge and attack you. He's still shaken, so he's at -2 to hit; the charge cancels that. 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 - 2 + 2 = 23

Hum hum. Confirm? 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 19

Okay, that's 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11 points of damage.

Wizard 5 (HP 36/44; AC 18/18/15; CMD 15 Fort +3; Ref +4; Will +6; Init +3; Perception +10; Darkvision 60 ft)

Golem joins Initiative?

The 'magister' is down -11.

Furthermore: since you're blocking the door, Captain Varning can't grab that sword from the adjacent guard. So on Round Two, instead of attacking Jax, he's going to take a 5' step -- placing him adjacent to both you and Jax, but not provoking an AoO -- draw a dagger (move action) and attack you. As before, he'll do Combat Expertise and Power Attack. 1d20 ⇒ 17

"This is for Father Dunnigan, you son of a b##&$!" You take 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 points of damage.

The 'magister punching bag' is down -18. Your welcome Jax!

You're down 18, but Jax gets 11 back.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

With a creaking sound, the golem stands up. It'll act on initiative 10 in Round 2.

Zimu, you're standing in a doorway between two fighter types.

Female Aasimar Wizard 6 (HP 53/53; AC 18/18/15; CMD 16 Fort +5; Ref +7 Will +8; Init +3; Perception +11; Darkvision 60 ft)

A summoner can only have one "summoning" active at a time. If I summon Elementals, then the croc goes. I could summon 1d3 Elementals, but I think the hasted infernal croc is better. Also, DMDM has indicated that most of the guards are lower level. And there are at least 6 of them, 4 dwarfs and 2 guards. This is what blasters and fireballs are made for.

The Judge will load and fire his crossbow. At the guard now attacking Cy preferably.

Attack-crossbow: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 4 = 12

Cуровую rolls should be on the discussion thread, I can copy and paste, she has her favored class bonus so that's +4 Hit points. In my notebook I have four rolls, hmmm I don't have fifth roll listed so i am missing that but I can look for it on discussion thread.

edit - DUH - we don't roll for the level 1 hit points never mind, so yes it was four rolls totaling 23, :P I even mentioned that for level 3 five of us had exactly the same amount of hit points.

He 5' side steps away from being the sandwich of the fighters and aims for the leader.

I do! The fort does not however. Give a lady some credit Dren. Better yet none of those below the stairs know the 'magister' has turned to the Dark Side of the Force.

Not sure if concentration was needed after taking 5' foot step, in case it was Concentration Check +11 (level 5 + Int + Trait) 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

edit SEXY roll above in your face Varnig!

possible crit on touch attack 1d20 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 3 = 21

Funny the to hit and the damage rolls of each above were exactly the same.

Varning has possibly taken 46 points of damage from his friend the 'magister' this round alone, add another 16 from last round plus any he took from other sources. Oh captain my captain!

Magister Tacitus wrote:

You do know that casting provokes an AoO, right?

Captain Varning lashes out: 1d20 ⇒ 15

aaand that's another 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 of damage on you. Also, you'll need to roll a concentration check (DC is 10+that damage+ spell level, which is 2) or lose the spell.

Mind, if you make the concentration check (DC 22) you can keep the attack roll.

Female Aasimar Wizard 6 (HP 53/53; AC 18/18/15; CMD 16 Fort +5; Ref +7 Will +8; Init +3; Perception +11; Darkvision 60 ft)

It was a 5' step I did not know if that did but in case I rolled a combat casting check after I got a 'friendly' PM. Yes I am a little bit weaksauce with that part of the rules, sorry.

DM I made a combat casting defensively check above, does that not prevent an attack of opportunity? Casting defensively does not provoke I thought.

Well, you have a decent chance of making the concentration check -- you'd need a 12, I believe. Have at it.

The captain has possibly taken 62 damage from his old friend the 'magister' alone. He has taken damage from other right?

Hmm who has Bref's head? It would be perfect to hurt groups of guards.

I think you added the "cast defensively" edit after I'd added the other stuff. But, okay -- I'll allow it. DC is 19, which you made.

Zimu ducks under the Captain's dagger-slash and, with sudden unexpected speed, lunges forward and plants her hand firmly in the center of his breastplate.

There's a glow. A crackling halo surrounds the captain. There's a smell of ozone, heated metal, burning hair and scorched skin. Zimu pulls her hand back, grinning triumphantly.

Captain Varning spasms, gasps, clutches his chest, and topples over to the ground.

No enemies are left standing in the laboratory.

Possible I was typing as you posted, we seem to be posting on top of each other like the first days of the campaign, AND I am not good with game terminology, I did say 5' foot step and possible need of concentration. But you did say you would make us act intelligently with the regards of not having a map, in this given case, why would Cуровую invite more damage after the golem activated and when the concentration check is less to cast defensively.

Makes sense no? :)

And here's the boss dwarf's save. (Dren, I do hope you're keeping track of your uses.) 1d20 ⇒ 8

Ruh roh! And the nearest creature is one of his own!

Barnabus lets out a weird, ululating scream. Then he whirls and swings his axe at the dwarf standing next to him. 1d20 ⇒ 4

Ow: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 of damage. Which is not enough to kill him, but which certainly gives him something to think about.

The Judge missed. His crocodile, being hasted, can attack the guard in the doorway. (It moves, so it doesn't get a FRA, so no extra attack for being hasted.) It can manage a charge, though, so let's say it does that. 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 11

ooh, nat 1. Yes, well. The crocodile crawls over some broken glassware on the floor and is very unhappy.
