Sejanus continues to keep watch over the surrendered sailors.

The sailors have given up on untying the boat and continue fighting you with their short swords. Jord wounds one sailor(1) in the arm causing him to drop his sword. He sees to his left Reinald and Genade cut down his last remaining ally(3) and gives up. "Alright I surrender! Don't kill me. I could join you! I know the trade routs!" he begs.

Perception DC 17 Jerieth and Sejanus ONLY:

You overhear the two unharmed prisoners whispering to each other.

"They don't look much like pirates. I bet they're new. Now that their friends are gone, I think we can overpower them."

"Don't be ridiculous. Do you want to die? What is a "pirate" supposed to look like anyway? They all look as filthy and stench ridden as the rest of them."

"Trust me. Once we get the sterncastle back, we can hold the high ground again and help take the ship back. They're likely going to kill us anyway."

"I don't know about this..."

"Just go on my signal. You take the girl, I'll take the guy."

Round 9
Order of initiative: kunala - sejanus - reinald - jerieth - jord - genade

Though they untied some of the ropes securing the boat, they failed to escape and your end of the ship is secure again. For now. The battle has died down somewhat, you hear less clangs of metal and more cheers from pirates. Smoke coming up from below must have been from that explosion that rocked the ship before.

Jord channels his healing energy giving you and the sailors surrounding you a small return of vigor. Everyone heals 1 hp this round. Whether he saved any of the unconscious or dying sailors is for the moment unknown.

Jord has used his actions for this round.

The doctor keeps watch over the surrendered sailors, keeping an eye on the other boat in case someone is desperate enough to try launching it down between the ships.

"Now sit down and shut up if you know what's good for you!" he menaces the sailors

'Smart choice.' Kunala glares at the sailor who finally chose to surrender, then feeling the slight healing surge he turns and nods to Jord, smiling. "Thanks, I'll take as much of that as you can give." He, still bleeding badly, then begins to load his pistol, moving aft he places his back to the upper deck. Jerieth, despite keeping an eye on the captured sailors, fails to overhear the captured prisoners' talk.

"Well, hopefully, these sailors will be glad that we spared them. I don't think the captain would be happy if some of them misbehaved. He most likely would toss you overboard to fend off the sharks, and having some aquatic elven blood in me, I don't like doing that, but I'm not the captain, so I don't have any say in what happens, but I can vouch to the captain for you that y'all surrendered even after putting up a decent resistance, so he most likely will let you live and sail with him," the undine said to the captured prisoners.

Please note, she probably fails to overhear the prisoners talking because she's busy talking to them!

The sailor follows Reinalds directions and moves away from the boat at the point of his sword. Everyone feels slightly better including the wounded sailors thanks to Jord's channeling. You keep watch of your designated areas as the sounds of battle die down.

Round 10
Order of initiative: kunala - sejanus - reinald - jerieth - jord - genade
In this round Jord only has a move action left since he also healed Kunala

"We'll take our chances. Now!" One of the sailors(6) on the sterncastle shouts to the other and launches himself at Sejanus. Sejanus gets an AoO but afterwards is disarmed and the sailor has your dagger. If you did not have your dagger out your are now grappled instead. The other sailor(3) decides against his allies actions and remains put, "There's too many of them! You'll just die!"

Below on the main deck Captain Harrigan reappears in the door to the captain's quarters next to Kunala holding what appears to be a human heart in his hands. "The Man's Promise is ours!" he calls out.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

you have got to be kidding me.' Hearing the scuffle behind him, Kunala turns, squeezing the trigger to his pistol, the cocking arm drops and there is the roar of gunpowder, a flash of fire and black smoke he shoots at the man who has bushwhacked Sejanus.

Jord are you reading my posts fully? You keep taking actions that you don't have for that round. You didn't have the actions to attack last round(ended up not mattering anyway since he died before you could attack him).

Sejanus fails to stop the sailor from stealing his dagger. You are not grappled. He used his action to disarm you. Kunala and Genade react swiftly to aid Sejanus, shooting and stabbing the sailor but not before he gets one strike, stabbing Genade viciously(6 dmg crit) as he moves to flank him. Then the sailor falls to the deck from his wounds. Captain Harrigan laughs.

Round 11
Order of initiative: kunala - sejanus - reinald - jerieth - jord - genade

A sounds of footsteps rushing up the stairs proceeds the appearance of an officer and 2 more sailors heading for the boat to attempt escape. Seeing only Reinald in the way they attempt to cut their way through. Reinald receives a cut from one sailor's short sword(7 dmg) and a stab from the officer's boarding pike(10 dmg). Reinald falls to the deck dying(DC 16 Con check to stabilise). Seeing himself with a chance of escape again, the sailor who had surrendered to Reinald turns around and starts to untie the boat again. The officer shouts to the men to release the boat then speaks a magical word and her boarding pike extends in length to ward off those attacking her sailors, giving her a 20ft. reach.

The other 2 sailors get to untying the rest of the ropes holding the boat. It is finally ready to be launched. "Launch the boat!" the officer calls out when she sees it is ready. She keeps her boarding pike extended and strikes at Jord getting past his armour and eviscerating him(11 damage). Captain Harrigan moves within throwing range and sends a dagger into the neck of the sailor that just surrendered to Jord, instantly killing him. "Dont' let them escape!" he calls out.

Unfortunately you're on the stairs(difficult terrain) so no 5ft. step. Luckily she had used her AoO on the Captain when he moved past her pike threat range so you're action is unopposed anyway. Just be careful next time.

Jord heals himself keeping his insides on the inside where they belong. Kunala again wounds the officer who is now barely standing. Her boarding pike retracts and the point hits the deck as she no longer holds it up in defense. The sailors manage to push it off unopposed and she steps into it as it crashes down into the water and she cries in pain. The sailors grab the oars and start rowing away to safety, not noticing the water slowly getting in, too focused on their escape. "No one can escape!" Captain Harrigan shouts and orders them shot down. The fog dissipates and Peppery Longfarthing steps out into view. "I'll take this one Captain." She smiles as she mixes 2 ingredients together magically between her outstretched hands. The tiny pellet shines white hot and as she shouts her arcane phrase it shoots towards the escaping boat. The fireball explodes right in their midst killing them all and breaks the boat in two right across where Kunala remembers shooting a hole in it. You realise Peppery just stole all the glory for herself.

"Glad to know I can count on you." The Captain says and he picks up the boarding pike the Officer had used and hands it to Peppery. "She made this reach further than it should. Find out what magic makes it work. It could be very useful."

The Captain turns to address the crew, "Well done crew! Bring forth all the prisoners!" Cheers erupt as the looting of the ship begins and the captured sailors are all brought and paraded in front of the Captain and his Officers. It is time to party and celebrate their victory and it does not let up until early into the day after tomorrow's morning. During the first evening the Captain divvies rewards to the crew for their efforts.

"Aye seems we have done a great job!"

The undine kisses Sandara on the lips.

"Say Sandara, how about you and I go find some alone time? I'm sure we can find somewhere...private...I would really like to see what you look like underneath those clothes of yours. And I like those tattoos of yours. And who knows, maybe I'll give you a private dance just for you..."

Jerieth grins as she flirts with the cleric of Besmara.

A few minutes after the fighting ends, the doctor suddenly relaxes from the tensed state he had been in since the battle started. He straightens up, stretching his back and shoulders with loud pops and cracks. "Ouch. I don't know if I shall ever get used to that."

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yes you all were fully healed. To Jord's 14HP healing, add 28HP of healing from Sandara's 5 uses of channel.

Sandara smiles but suggests waiting till night when everyone will be way too drunk as there is quite a lot of activity still as everything of worth is transferred from the Man's Promise to the Wormwood. She says to meet after dark in the Man's Promise's secure storage below decks once it is emptied by the pirates. There she uses her divine gifts to summon water for you both to clean off the blood and filth of the battle(or you can use your own create water spell). "The adrenaline of the battle is still running through me," she say and you finally get your wish; An uninterrupted night locked away in the dark(she doesn't have a light spell but maybe you do or you may have brought a torch) with the lovely redheaded Sandara. *fades to black* ;)

During the 36 hours pirate party celebration extravaganza you guys get 2 major action(Jerieth already used 1). That is gambling, games, diplomacying and the like.

Fishguts is preparing a feast from among the best of the Wormwood's remaining food and the Man's Promise's stock.

Cutthroat Grok is overseeing the transfer of weapons, food and trade goods from the Man's Promise to the Wormwood.

Captain Harrigan and most of the Officers celebrate in the New Captain's Quarters away from the rest of the crew.

Plugg first secures all the prisoners in the main cargo hold before joining the officers. A successful battle has put even him and Scourge in a good mood for now and they leave you alone as long as you don't approach them.

Just before he does he uses Guidance on himself for the +1 to a roll.

Jord approaches Tilly Brackett
"Well Lass we've had a victory and got some spoils. I've even managed to get some inspiration for a joke, lets see if I can tickle yer fancy with this one."

He starts of pointing to the sea dramatically
"A pirate and his parrot, were adrift in a lifeboat following a dramatic escape from a valiant battle. While rummaging through the boat's provisions, the pirate stumbled across an old lamp. Secretly hoping that a Genie would appear, he rubbed the lamp vigorously. To the amazement of the castaways, a Genie came forth. This particular Genie, however, stated that he could only deliver one wish, not the standard three. Without giving any thought to the matter the pirate blurted out, "Make the entire ocean into rum!" The Genie clapped his hands with a deafening crash, and immediately the entire sea turned into the finest rum ever sampled by mortals. Simultaneously, the Genie vanished. Only the gentle lapping of rum on the hull broke the stillness as the two considered their circumstances. The parrot looked disgustedly at the pirate and after a tension-filled moment spoke: "Now yee've done it!! Now we're goon to have to pee in the boat."

Next Jord will wander around and see Grok, a bit of dutch courage in him he figures that his earlier rebuffs by Grok may be able to be turned around.

Before he approaches Cut Throat Grok he uses Guidance on himself for the +1 to a roll.

Jord approaches Cut Throat Grok during the celebrations

"Well Grok, did you get to see much fighting? I got meself stabbed, but I got a few good whacks in, I even managed to save a few mates from Pharasmas judgement. Howabout that lad Sejanus I've seen some interesting looks your way from him." At this point Jord grabs a couple drinks one for him and Grok each.

"This be thirsty work, Well lass seeing as I got meself hurt, would you care to show me a thing or too?"

Jerieth grins as she uses her magic to clean both her and Sandara up.

Jerieth used prestidigitation to clean themselves up.

Later that night, deep in the Man's Promise hold, Jerieth is grinning from ear to ear. She is looking forward to having a passionate night with the cleric.

"Hm...Oh this is going to be good," the undine said. She had brought a torch with her, although it was more for Sandara's benefit since undines are blessed with darkvision.

"Oh sugar, you're not the only who the heat of battle still running through them. You and I are about to make some beautiful music tonight. They say that making love is like a dance of the hearts, my darling Sandara. And this dance, is going to be quite stunning. Now, let's get started! Here, let me help ya darling out of those clothes. You should think about wearing less clothing, sugar. Makes things like this much easier to do. Now, come here..."

Fade to Black

Jerieth had a wild and intimate night with Sandara, enjoying the company of the Besmaran cleric, and Sandara's touch.

Hope I didn't go overboard. Scenes like this are real difficult since it's hard to figure out what everyone's comfort zone is.

Jerieth then asks Sandara to share a drink with her, and even going so far as to ask the cleric about her past.

"Hope ya don't think I'm prying sugar, but I'm just wanting to get know you more than just getting your clothes off. And trust me sweetie, you're quite the catch under those clothes of yours. I hope we can enjoy more nights together. You're the first person to be able to go several rounds with me in the bed, or in our case, the storage hold. Maybe next time, we can experience each other's company in the water. Trust me, it's a unique moment."

The undine winks as she flirts with Sandara, while awaiting the cleric's story of her past and how she ended up on the Wormwood.

Again I apologize for the scene there. I feel that I may have gone overboard. :(

Sejanus is relieved, deeply relieved, to have survived the assault on the ship. He had come a long way in the past few months since abandoning his home and birthright. He thought he would have come to command a small band of followers by now, captaining a fast sloop for coastal raiding. Starting to build a reputation.

Instead, he had lost a leg, been shanghaied, degraded with menial labor, and now demonstrated that he was almost useless in a fight. I hope I can rectify that soon. I'm not very good with... collateral damage. I need my space! Not these cramped quarters. Blasted ship. Stupid, blasted ship.

Seeing Jord approach Grok, and hearing his name, he perks up a bit. Well, at least there are some good things about this ship. keeps an eye on the sturdy half-orc, hoping to catch her eye and give her a roguish wink.

Tilly does not seem in the mood for jokes. She drinks and gambles the night away.

Grok is supervising the intake of goods from the Man's Promise and is currently alone as the pirates go back for another load. "Ah just in time. Those idiots just lumped it down anywhere they pleased. Help me shift those crates over here." She says while moving some of them herself. When she pauses for a moment to look at you she says, "Is that so? They didn't put up much of a fight. I was right by the Captain as he fought their captain. They didn't do much to defend him and gave up once he got his heart cut out of his chest." After all the work is done she is willing so practice some combat moves with you for a bit. It doesn't go so well since she is also drinking as soon as the work is done as well. Grok is now helpful.
