Ah, I found it. It isn't listed in the grappling or pinning sections, but in the formula for CMD. Still don't know if she becomes free or still being grappled by Auehda if she doesn't maintain the pin. Also because time passed, her buff spells should be gone reducing her physical strength significantly. Retcon...
Auehda maintains the pin, and keeps Meyanda from escaping.
Auehda, Burnt One
Basically though, unless I'm really lucky or I can get Phylla away from her, she's gonna escape before you guys can get here. She just needs to roll above like a 10 . . .
Yvell Endymion
Well she is also Prone, you must remember that, but even then.. what would she do? Auehda can start using the maintain to knock her back out slowly. Meyanda has no way of fighting you as we disarmed her thoroughly
Auehda, Burnt One
Yeah she is prone but as far as I can tell that doesn't decrease CMB. So she's likely to escape the grapple and have a chance to grab Metal again.
Knocking her out would be a great option though, if I can be sure that Phylla isn't going to jump on her right then.
Speaking of which, does Phylla do anything in response to Auehda's pleas? Also go ahead and give Meyanda another roll vs. pin . . .
Yvell Endymion
Just as penalties to AC apply to CMD, Penalties to attack rolls apply to CMB, at least universal ones. CMB's are.. Effectively melee attacks that in this case is forcing herself away.
Auehda, Burnt One
Yeah, even if prone applies, no way that misses.
Auehda looks down, detecting a shift in the noise of machinery that signifies a door sliding open. "Help!" they shout over the roar of the flames, kicking their foot towards Phylla. "Danger!"
As Meyanda grabs their arm, they push away from her, trying to wrench free.
CMB to escape!: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Not accounting for prone, but that probably doesn't make it. I'll 5' step back and pick up Metal if it does.
Round 3: Attempt to escape grapple (standard action). Light lasts 235 rounds.
GM Demonmoose
Auehda is unable to escape. Meyanda lets go of Burnt One and clutches at a claw symbol at the back of her neck. It glows red. A blast of necrotic energy explodes out of her.
Channel Negative Energy: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1) = 10
Auehda needs to make a DC 12 Will save or take damage. Half damage on a save.
Everyone's turn. Auehda and Meyanda and Phylla are on top of the raised platform. They are 10 feet up and 40(?) feet away from the door.
Yvell Endymion
Yvell sighs and moves closer to the scene. He was upset, " What did you all do, why is she up? And you! Meyanda stop making my efforts difficult, you'll just get yourself killed, you Already LOST. "
If Ibuki didnt interrogate the man Yvell most certainly killed him. Anyway, double move to ladder turn done. I assume the symbol is much like a birthmark?/
GM Demonmoose
More like a mark made from a brand and imbued with divine power. It resembles the claw statue from before.
"You heathens cannot deny my God's power. So long as I draw breath, I cannot be vanquished. Hellion, I beseech thee, grant your servant Meyanda, the power to smite my enemies!" She shouts this over the noise of the reactor flame, raising her hands. Then she laughs maniacally.
Yvell Endymion
" Your god has no power here, we stopped your plan, I smote you easily, ALONE. There is nothing that can be completed with our being here. The fact I showed you mercy means you god has Abandoned you and that we were more powerful. Notice your lack of worshipers? " Yvell voices as he gains ground.
Auehda, Burnt One
Does Phylla also need to make a save?
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 11/21
Auehda grunts as the wave passes through them, tearing at the essence of their being. "Sorry Yvell Phylla gonna eat her!" they say, reaching down and picking up their Numerian steel greataxe.
Metal: 1d20 ⇒ 9 Lethal slashing: 1d12 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3 Not accounting for prone.
Round 4: Pick up item (move action) and attack (standard action). Light lasts 234 rounds.
GM Demonmoose
Passing Ibuki.
Bran charges up the other ladder.
Auehda's greataxe Metal glances off Meyanda's chain shirt and bounces off the floor.
Meyanda channels negative energy around her in an explosion of darkness.
Valtyra, Bran, Yvell, and Auehda need to make a Will save DC 12 and take half damage. Or take damage.
Channel Negative: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) = 12
Everyone's turn. Everyone is about 20 feet away except for Ibuki who is 40 feet by the door with an unconscious Sanvil(I'm assuming you brought this one, unless you just killed him), and Auehda who is adjacent.
Auehda, Burnt One
Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11 Activating orc ferocity. 0/1, -1/21
I think we also took Meyanda's chain shirt along with her other possessions, but above attack probably still misses.
Auehda cries out as the cruel energy passes through them, swinging again with their glowing greataxe. After that final lunge, they collapse to the floor, flesh pale and clammy.
-2/12
Metal: 1d20 ⇒ 12 Slashing, lethal: 1d12 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9 Not accounting for prone.
Round 5: Melee attack (standard action). Light lasts 233 rounds.
Auehda is now dying, and has an armor class of 9; melee attacks get +4 to hit, etc. etc.
Yvell Endymion
Yvell was getting tired of this, This was the lat time he left something unattended, He'd carry the wench this time.
Will Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
The surge actually effected Yvell, which made his fervor that much more strong. She most likely was already injured and thus he knew lethal damage would not kill her. She needed to know she was weak.
Powerful Blade Slash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 231d10 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Move up against Lethal Attack against Prone AC.. accounting for whatever non-lethal she already has. We took all her stuff, pretty much. He wont attack if Auehda hits. Or if she doesnt go down, its nonlethal so a -4 to attack.
Confirm Powerful Blade Slash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 121d10 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11
GM Demonmoose
Phylla saves: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Phylla moans in your heads as she feels the negative energy wash over her. Despite the damage, the cerebric fungus is behaved and doesn't retaliate.
Auehda's Metal bites into the android. Meyanda spits out red blood.
Yvell sees Auehda fall down before he moves forward and swings his curved blade, turning it at the last moment so that it strikes with less killing intent.
Meyanda gurgles something unintelligible before she loses consciousness.
She's probably unconscious and not dead. Didn't look at HPs, but it seems like it should be only unconscious.
Battle is over.
Yvell Endymion
Yvell sheathes his weapon and moves over To Meyanda's body and throws it over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, his agitation knew no bounds. This woman was making things so hard, this is why he disliked certain aspects of being lenient, but he made a promise and dammit he would follow through with it! He motioned Valtyra to heal up Auehda and the rest and looked to Phylla " What happened here.. and why weren't you near me like I told you before? I swear first some wayward Technic League trash and then this... after we scour this place for anything else useful, we are going back. I just have to figure out what to do with you and the other two. That Locker could hold something useful as it seemed like we couldn't open it with tact. Now we actually have time to spare, I wonder if Khonnir is doing better? "
Yvell Endymion
Lol Love seems to be pretty swingy there
Yvell smiles, very briefly as the healing wave flows over his form " I appreciate it Valtyra.. most adequate " Still looking to Phylla and the now healed Auehda as to what happened.
Valtyra Brightsong
"Adequate?" Val says with a hurt smile "We will just have to see what you say later then." She huffs off to check the android mumblings something like I'll show him who's adequate.
is the android stable?
Yvell Endymion
Yvell visibly sweats at Valtrya's words. With her he ever truly knew what she meant by that remark but he'd hoped it was something... positive. " R-Right. I'm sure you'll exceed my expectations .. MORE than you already have that is.. "
There was much to be discussed afterward. On the bright side.. The Torch was relit and the City of Torch saved. The people would have their livelihoods back and they would receive their just rewards. Well, not only that but they stopped a hidden strike from the Techic League. Which curdled his mouth for a moment upon reflection.
Auehda, Burnt One
20/21
As Valtyra's waves of healing pass over them, Auehda stirs and rises. "Ugh I keep falling asleep," they say, frowning and picking up their greataxe and hypogun. "Thank you Valtyra."
They follow Valtyra to the android's body, evaluating Phylla. "You okay now? Auehda sorry for letting her hurt you."
Yvell Endymion
Yvell is carrying the android
Yvell looks to Auehda and notices that they seem to be, relatively okay so he asks them the question As well. " Auehda.. what happened here? Why was that woman spew dark energies from the ground? "
Yvell Endymion
1 person marked this as a favorite.
S'alright
Yvell stared daggers at Phylla but the stare lasted little he looked to Auehda and sighed, scratching his head in slight embarrassment. This was no easy task for him to express as success was a big portion of his doctrine. " *Sigh* It seems that I was at fault for this particular Situation it seems. I should not have sent you on your own and I should not have rushed after that man so fast. I let my emotions get the better of me, which is most unlike my training. More-so I let Phylla out of my sight when she is not to be left alone until she learns the ways of this.. world. I.. A-A Er.. Ngghh..Apolo-gize. Now are you doing much better, no permanent damage? " Yvell squeezed that last portion out with difficulty.
Auehda, Burnt One
They shrug. "Auehda's okay. Meyanda's power not the kind that breaks bones or starts fire; just makes you weak. It's okay Yvell."
They begin climbing back down the ladder. "Going home now?"
Yvell Endymion
Yvell, having passed the small area of doubt in his actions and given forgiveness, coughs and resumes his much more comfortable tone. " *clears throat* Well then I suppose we should, after a sweep of this floor for anything else useful and getting rid of this Technic League Filth! I do have to ask you a favor Auehda. Will your father be fine with a request of mine? As you can see Phylla needs MUCH more training but is now our and more to My responsibility to ensure she doesnt... do harm. Would your father have room to house her? I of course would stay relatively close as well a I am no resident of this Town. We would also need some sort of dark tarp to hide her, I'm thinking making her into some sort of backpack disguise and sneak her in. She'd latch upon my back, wrap the tendrils around like straps and we'd cover her easy. "
Yvell say from the top of the ladders as he situates the unconscious Meyanda on his back to safely climb down. " If that is a fine idea to you all. We should open that locker now that we have time a well and perhaps investigate that machine a well.. otherwise I am set to go if my plan works out. "
GM Demonmoose
Congratulations on finishing Book 1! You can have a chance to try to open that white box or take it with you. Then roleplay the conclusion to the book.
Yvell, Ibuki, Valtyra, Auehda, Bran and Phylla search the rest of the complex, finding mostly empty rooms, and machines that no longer work. The lights in the complex are functioning due to the reactor no longer transferring power away to some location.
When you reach Torch, you see a blazing purple flame shooting out of Black Hill, several hundred feet into the sky. It has been rekindled.
What do you do now?
Auehda and Yvell get to choose from two bonuses (for awesome roleplaying and keeping on track), which take place during the month between this book and the next. You may elect to not accept either bonus.
Yvell Endymion
Sweetness, Question did our plan with the Phylla-pack work? Also I think we took the white from before I think we wanted o see if anything was in that locker. Ah well it s not too important.
Yvell looked at the horizon nodding at the Torch being a rising beacon of Success for their efforts. They had survived and persevered.... Those allied with him had not died. He was glad, not that he'd show it. " You see? This is the fruit of our labor! Now lets go handle the small stuff... and I guess.. celebrate? " Slightly awkward at the end. " We need to deliver Sanvil to the Local authorities or kill him. Hide this Meyanda and Phylla as well. I hope... that our time together was.. worth it. "
Auehda, Burnt One
Auehda climbs out of the lake and looks up at the flame in awe, suddenly realizing how precious it has been to them. It destroyed their old life, and yet new life was born of it. A harsh life, one filled with pain, but also love, and, they feel, power. They miss the old family and the old Auehda but the new family is something to be thankful for as well.
Breaking from their reverie, they glance over at Yvell. "Junkmaster can hide Meyanda I think. Don't know about Phylla . . . maybe she go to Khonnir Baine's place. Bran and Val can keep eyes on her for awhile. I think we leave Sanvil Trett alive and give him to Dolga." They gesture south around the Black Hill. "That way for Dolga and Junkmaster. We stop at Tavern on the way?"
We should also remember to tell the Temple of Brigh about the vegepygmies, look for junkins in the Jinkyard, and see about burying the bodies of the Scrapwall folks. Auehda would also like to relocate the thylacine to somewhere where it could actually get food, even though they really don't like cat-things. For now though I think we just . . . deal with the NPCs with us right now, and go party.
Yvell Endymion
Yell plans on assisting Auehda with those activities eventually after they are through and Torch feels safe.. they might be able to sell the unused items and Tech gear and make a killing. Perhaps check on Khonnir's health as well.
Auehda, Burnt One
Yeah, I think we should check on Khonnir when we drop off Phylla (maybe we can just have the "party" at the Foundry?). Maybe check on Derlin too, if he's still around. Do y'all want to roleplay through this stuff or just let GM Demonmoose summarize it at the end?
Auehda leads their friends down from Weeping Pond, taking the lane down past The Copper Coin and turning right to come to Khonnir Baine's tavern. Along the way, they point out Silverdisk Hall, saying, "So Sanvil Trett killed Garmen Ulreth? We tell Dolga about that?"
GM Demonmoose
Someone may make a disguise roll for Phylla, to sneak her into town. You also do all the uninteresting things. Things leftover are: Collect your reward from Dolga and inform her, talk to Khonnir and Val Baine, interrogate Meyanda, attempt to open the white bin or find someone to do it, and other things.

Before reaching the Foundry Tavern, you leave Meyanda at the Junkyard with the Junkmaster. She is bound and gagged, and the bleachling gnome keeps a constant guard over her as he sorts through assorted junk.
In the afternoon, your party reaches Khonnir Baine's house. Val Baine has set up a small feast for you to eat, including salad with wild greens and assorted vegetables with multiple colored peppers, a meatloaf stuffed with boiled eggs, olives and sausages, a few different kinds of ale, mead, beer and lagers, along with wine and water.
Khonnir is sitting up as you arrive. He still looks sick, but is slowly recovering. He greets you, though he only knows two of you well.
"Bran and Ibuki. I never thought that you would work together. And you found some adventurers to help save the town. Thank you. Please take my items that you may have found in the complex. I won't be doing any more adventuring soon."
Bran gives Khonnir a hug, until the wizard grunts.
"Now that Torch is saved," Bran says, "It's gonna need someone to help it recover until Khonnir is better. This is where we part ways, my companions. Let's spend the time celebrating our victory tonight."
Bran leaves the party.
Sometime during the party, you open the white bin and find:
Inside is a timeworn autograpnel, a timeworn panic suit, a timeworn emergency beacon, two batteries, and 24 silverdisks.
Auehda, Burnt One
Disguise for Phylla: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Auehda gives Phylla their cloak to borrow until the group reaches the Foundry. During the party, they spend several minutes poring over Sanvil's spellbook and the rest of the loot, but most of the time laugh raucously at everyone's jokes and compliment Val on the food. "I'll miss you, Bran," they say, clapping him on the shoulder. "You do good here."
Appraise on angular green gun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Appraise on Sanvil's longsword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Is it magic?
Appraise on Sanvil's pin: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
As the party winds down, they pull Yvell, Valtyra, and Ibuki to the side. "Let's go to Dolga now? Sanvil's been sleep long enough."

Townsfolk look at you because you are heroes, but don't really stop you from moving around with a large bag of vines or an unconscious android woman. They hope you are good people, and with the recent relighting of the torch, they cheer as you move through town.
Sanvil's longsword is a masterwork longsword, not magical at all. Costs 300 and change. Sanvil's pin is worth 100 gp.
Yvell Endymion
Yvell had assisted as well being the packmule for the would be backpack.
Taking 10 to add +2 to the check
He waves to the citizens less basking in the light and more courteous to their cheers. Yvell keeps an eye on the nice sized plat companion as she was unpredictable at best. They had saved the Ton and it did indeed feel good.
Once they had reached Khonnir and Val' place of residence the party or rather surprise party was a treat to behold. Yvell spent the time opening up somewhat to the others he had some rather risque soldier jokes and would invite each of the members to dance with him.
Once the party reaches a break point Yvell gives a small speech, " Torch is saved but we did so as was our duty. I am glad both Khonnir and Val's smiling faces have returned to them and that your livelihood urns bright in the sky. Khonnir, Bran was a fine man if I have ever seen one, and put his all into doing that which was right. You raised both him and Ibuki quite well. You will be missed comrade. I must thank the group here the most however. Bran, Ibuki, Valtyra, Auehda and Even Derlin, wherever he may be; For believing in my words and tolerating my actions regardless of their.. bite. " He would throw back a drink, which seemed completely uncharacteristic of the stern Half-elf. Though this was mostly as a gesture for most alcohol was land to him.
As Some of the more Studious persons began to band together. Yvell agreed " Right we have business to ettle with her as the reward and other findings must be explained. After that we must talk to Meyanda and I'll have to.. indoctrinate Phylla.. "
Auehda, Burnt One
Actually Yvell I was alerted a couple months or so ago that you can't take 10 on aid another checks. See "Using Skills" in the Core.
"Leave Phylla with Bran, yea?" Auehda tries to remember where Dolga would be this time of day.
Knowledge (local): at home or the hall where we first met her?: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1 :V

Ahh I indeed missed that small bit, well then

You find Dolga at the Town Hall with a new stack of papers. With the reactivation of the torch, several of the smiths are clamoring over their lost time to use the flame. The dwarven councilor has sent all of them away to try to organize the times so that everyone has a chance to use it.
"Blasted earth! Why do I have to be the one who does this? One of the other councilors or a secretary needs to take over." She mutters as you enter the room.
"Ah, you've fixed the Torch. Thank you. We don't have to worry about any of those Technic League coming here to investigate the disappearance. I got your reward right here, by the way." She pushes a sack to the front of her desk with the head of her warhammer.
Yvell Endymion
Yvell looks at the contents with a raised brow and a conscious nod noting it was of exquisite wealth. That however was not the only reason they had come.
He motioned to he form that was Sanvil Trett a well known merchant in this town, slumping him over the desk. " I'm sure you know of this man, who went under the guise of a well to do merchant in your town. Apparently he was a spy, a particularly devious and stupid one at that. He was going to set Torch to burn and have the Technic League descend upon the place. He foolishly tried to escape from us and when cornered attacked. " Yvell holds back his spit.
" There are a few more things, but for this one we thought it best for you to take care of. He's been properly stripped of anything I think we wold deem useful or dangerous. so it is Torch justice he falls under. "
GM Demonmoose
"Well, I suppose we could fashion a special jail for him. Or maybe throw into Torch with all the other refuse." Dolga laughs. "Obviously that will be a horrible thing to do. Let's stick with the jail part."
The dwarven councilor calls some of the town watch to take Sanvil away.
"I wouldn't worry about the Technic League. It's been many years since a whole group has come to Torch. So long as we pay them their 'tribute,' they don't really care what happens here. Besides, Silver Mount is right next to Starfall. No reason to go out of the way for a few flecks of gold when the vein is right beside your home."
"It'll take some time but we'll call you again if we have work for you. Fixing the town's problems and recovering are the first steps."
Auehda, Burnt One
"Thanks a whole ton, Dolga. The money and scroll go put to good use," Auehda says, inclining their head.
As the group leaves Dolga's office, they turn to Yvell, Ibuki, and Valtyra. "We go check on Meyanda now? Maybe also look for jinkins?"
If we need to be somewhere else in order to meet the new PCs, we could just speed through the Meyanda thing (presumably she's got the info we need to move on) and skip the jinkins and other stuff.
Yvell Endymion
1 person marked this as a favorite.
" Having him bathed in purifying flames would be just but equally cruel. Dolga I must tell you before we leave, one thing. The flame and gold would not be what the Technic League would come to this town for, but what MADE the flame surely would.nLuckily you have strong-heated persons like Bran with you, and a such shall be safe, we will come to your aid if need arise. Until then, we have other tasks to complete. "
On the outside Yvell nods to Auehda in a agreeing fashion. " The wayward priestess is a key figure in this entire thing and now that she has failed in her mission would likely being going through morale break. We can take that opportunity to appeal to her much like her rat-follower. In which case understand what all is going on. I also need to take responsibility for the Jinkins from before, we shall wipe them out if need be. *Sigh* I never thought I would be saying such words with.. such a group, not that I am complaining. You all are much more... comfortable than a platoon of soldiers. " The half-elf seems to be musing upon something great in his mind.
The phase ends after some time and Yvell shakes his head with a smirk, " Unless someone has any other ideas, Let us not tarry. With no immediate threats we can learn of the artifacts below and sell what we can to our leisure. I'm sure your Father will be interested in the many stories we shall tell, correct Auehda? " Yvell gives a twinkle in his eye heading towards the junkyard, negotiations and education would be abundant.
Auehda, Burnt One
"Ooh yeah, Junkmaster likes stories! Auehda's use to tell him about bugs and such in the Junkyard but never very exciting," Auehda says, frowning. "Maybe I can go look for jinkins while you talk to Meyanda. Auehda's not much good at talking to her anyways."
If Ibuki or Valtyra want to join me we can divide the party up pretty safely . . . I don't foresee any real difficulties with the things, since they are so low-level.
