"Keep yer eyes up. Who knows what manner a critters are floatin' 'round up here."
Taking point, with shield and axe ready, Harek leads the way up the stairs.

Moving down the hallway, Harek opens the two doors to the left(Room 1 & 2), and he sees two ropes in each room coming thru a hole in the ceiling and just ending above the floor. They are obviously pull ropes, that most likely are for the tower bells. He then moves down the hallway and opens the door(Room 3) and sees a bed, chest and an armoire. Moving to the next door(Room 4), he opens it and it appears to be a private study and prayer room. These two rooms are obviously Juriendor.

Search 1,2,3 and/or 4, or move on down the hall?
| Rask Kotri Delvedeep |
Rask will signal Harek to enter and search room #4, with him following him, while Ordrud moves down the hallway, ready to barge in, if needed, from the other doors.
He also signals Sirasa, Lothalian an Kazmir to stay there, ready to help if needed.

Harek sees no foes in any of the rooms(1,2,3,4). In the private study, he sees two scrolls. Moving on, Ordrud opens the door and there is a circular stairwell leading up.

Take the scrolls?
| Ordrud |
"Stairs here. Let's go." Ordrud whispers to the Rask and heads up the stairs.
The character pauses 3 seconds for his companions to catch up before leading up the stairs. The player will use the standard action to Detect Evil up the stairwell.
| Harek Ironshirt |
Pointing out the scrolls to those more accustomed to reading them, Harek continues on.
"Aye, upwards an' onwards!"
Sirasa
|
Sirasa continues to follow the fighters, "I wonder how these creatures ascended the belltower without anyone noticing?"
@GM - Do we notice any evidence of a fire yet?
| Harek Ironshirt |
"Them other critters just up an' poofed inta bein' downstairs. I figure maybe whatever up here might a did the same."
Despite clanking up the stairs and dashing around downstairs, carrying a heavy pack, armor, shield, and heavy weaponry, Harek doesn't even seem out of breath.
"'Sides, that last critter floated right through the floor. Who knows what kinda tricks these things'll pull."
| Lothalian Sybellus |
Lothalian, figuring that since we are in a cathedral, any scrolls might aid their plight and might be spells he can cast, will do a cursurary glance at them, scoop them up and follow the others up the stairs.
They could have flown up there. Does everyone have some sort of ranged weapon? The Elf asks.
Sirasa
|
"Crossbow in hand plus a little something more if needed," the young Shoanti woman responds to the Elf Cleric.
| Harek Ironshirt |
"Ranged weapons? I gots a few pointy huntin' sticks, but they ain't what I'd call real weap'n's, if ya know what I mean."
Harek laughs softly at the mention of Ranged weapons, obviously looking forward to planting axe in face.

Tomorrow starts camping season and my wife and I will be heading out of town early. Now the campground is supposed to have installed camp wide wifi at the end of last season so we cancelled our landline and internet connection last October. If the campground did not get the wifi installed, I will be off air till Sunday evening, and then will have to get a Verizon hot spot depending on what the campground decides to do. Anyway my internet may be spotty for the next few weeks.

Lothalian scoops up the two scrolls and quickly looking at the parchment learns that the scrolls are magic weapon and magic vestment(CL 6th). Odrud scans for evil up while looking up the stairs, and does not detect any. There is a slight smell of smoke coming from above, but at least a level or two up. Rask checks the far room and finds a storage room, mostly with winter vegetables and other food staples.
Heading up the stairs you enter a room with a single door. Following the hallway around, you see an open room with the four ropes coming from the rooms below, and extending up thru the ceiling. There is also a set of stairs heading up and the smell of smoke is stronger.
| Rask Kotri Delvedeep |
Rask runs to catch up with the others, and gets in position behind Ordrud and Harek.
He signals for everybody to keep going up.
| Ordrud |
"Fire has started. We must hurry." Ordrud continues up the stairs without pause.

Carrying the Crossbow but more prepared to weave a spell, Sirasa follows the warriors up the stairs.

Continuing up the stairs, the smell of smoke is getting stronger and now that you are into the open tower, you see four skeletal creatures that are on fire. Each of the creatures is pressing itself against the tower walls, trying to set it on fire. However, the winter snow and dampness seems to be hampering the fire starting a bit.

Rask moves so he is in range of the closest creature and fires an arrow at it, missing. Lothalian moves up behind Rask and looses and arrow and he misses also. Kazmir casts a spell and a shower of water appears near the creature but does not touch it. Harek and Ordrud double move up the stairs, while Sirasa begins to cast a spell.
The creatures pay no heed to the group as they continue to try and light the wooden tower on fire.

Rask and Lothalian each fire another arrow, and each misses wide of the target with Rask taking a brief look at his bow. Kazmir stomps up the steps to a corner location and tries to cover the fire creature with water, this time he manages to soak the stairs and a bit of the creatures "legs". Harek continues to move up the stairs, ending next to the creature and Ordrud after stowing his sword is directly behind him. Sirasa conjures up a dog that bites the skeleton hard but does not kill it. The fire creatures above continue to try and light the tower on fire, but the one that was bitten by the dog turns on it and attempts to claw it but misses.

He gets his Dwarven Waraxe out, and advances on the stairs.
"Let's see how I fare with this weapon..."

"Sure, why not?"
Harek gives the creature a good old bashin' with his shield, obviously unhappy to not be using his axe.

Seeing the critter go down with the thumping, Harek turns to Ordrud with a grin across his face.
"Well whaddya know? Good lookin' out, pal!"
| Lothalian Sybellus |
Lothalian will move up the stairs I28 and realizes the sad truth of Ordrud's words concerning bows and skeletons. He will keep his bow out but not waste any more arrows.
Sirasa
|
Sirasa only moved in the prior round as the Celestial Riding Dog was cast in the round before that and appeared in the prior round. She would have ended the prior round at about I26. Looking at the map, I don't know how far she would be from behind the Burning Skeleton at M30. So I will do an IF/THEN post.
If behind the next Burning Skeleton is within 25 feet of I26, then:
Sirasa begins to weave a spell.
If not, then:
Sirasa will move up to right behind the Fighters and send a ray of Heavenly Fire up to next Burning Skeleton up the stairs.

Harek bashes the wounded burning skeleton, then moves the short distance up the stairs to the next skeleton, with everyone following behind him. Kazmir, now within range creates water on the next skeleton, and although the the fire is not put out, you all can see that it is not burning as hot as before and the skeleton does not seem to be affecting the wall like the other two are. Sirasa, as the next skeleton is close enough begins to cast another spell, while the burning skeleton turns on Harek with its claws but misses.
