Ranged touch attacks are counted as weapons for mechanical reasons, it was like that it 3.0/3.5 also. Doesn't bother me, casters are hella powerful anyways

Yep, you can even get the feat Weapon Focus: Ray to increase your to-hit.

Mark gets cut by the broken sword of one of the skeletons. You actually need to roll to confirm a crit on that one, Dave, you rolled a 20 with his sword. It's a nasty hit, and Mark coughs a little from the sudden spike of pain.

"I! AM! NOT! PLAYING! AROUND! RRRRRAAAAGGHHHHHHH!" he roars, swinging his axe as hard as he can in retaliation.

Power Attack, assuming flanking: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 Damage: 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Maggie takes her move action to back away from the combat, readying herself for a final charge as she drips tiger blood on the floor.


I did roll to confirm both 20 neither came close to critting

My bad Dave, forgot you posted that. I did update my HP though. Maggie just takes her move action on her turn and delays, Mark will only say/do those things I wrote if there are any skellies left by the time it's his turn.

Kierra changes the grip on her spear slightly, and bashes out at the nearest skeleton with the butt of her spear.

I intend for this to do blunt damage. I'm figuring that it would be like using an improvised weapon, and thus take a -4 penalty to attack. Let me know if you would handle this differently.

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

As Kierra switches the positioning of her hands, her lower hand slides too far up the shaft of the spear, and she nearly loses control of the weapon. Barely regaining her grip before the spear flies loose, Kierra's swing takes a wide arc in the skeleton's direction, but misses wildly.


Nope thats how I would handle that as well. Good job.

I also mis-rolled damage. I think it should only be a d6 like a quarterstaff. But seeing as how I missed, that doesn't matter.

Mark winces when he sees Kierra's epic fumble, glad to see that she at least managed to keep a grip on her weapon.

His gaze looks ahead at the skeletons again, trying not to think about the times when he would almost lose control of his battleaxe and send it flying into the trees. Or how recently he did just that. Focus, Mark, focus...

"Aaaargh!" Mark yells in a mixture of anger and pain as the skeleton gets a slice in across his ribs. He clutches his side briefly, then looks back at the skeleton and growls.


Mark retaliates the vicious clawing with a attack that is almost frightening to watch.

Yorn as well strikes a furious blow to the remaining skeleton.

Combat over.

Mark calls Maggie to his side to examine her wounds. Looking over his shoulder at everyone else, he calls out, "That was the last of them, is everyone okay? Maggie's hurt, can anyone help or do I have to use my potion on her?"

To the left a door leads out ( door 1-2) this is where the moaning sound is coming from.

To the right another door leads out from the room (door 1-6)

Nalun casts detect magic and begins focusing on the skeletons.

Please stay dead this time!


The magic you detected from the skeletons has dissipated.


You are in the first room of the crypt. It is much bigger then you expected. This room is 40 feet front to back and 30 feet left to right. There are two doors leading out one to the left and one to the right (see above) The ceilings are 15 feet high and the wall are stone. The walls are decorated with a scrolling pattern of villagers fighting off masked bandits and monsters. This artwork is still in relatively good condition, although water damage and lichen have taken their toll. The stench of mold and rot hangs heavy in the air.

If Kierra helps Maggie (again) with a cure spell of some variety, Mark will thank her - if she can't, then he'll pour his CLW potion down her throat, reassuring her all the while.

That done, Mark will stand up again. "Right then, everyone. Way I figure it, we have two jobs here now, not one. On top of retrieving the Torch for the village, we have to find out who's behind these dead rising again. We ready to continue on? I thought I heard moaning in the room over there -" he points to his left - "we should probably check it out."

Hey guys, I think the skeletons are dead...umm again.

Nalun walks up to the door that Mark indicated and stands for a while examining it and detecting magic.

Taking 20 perception and detecting magic


It is an ulocked door nothing more.

"Ri...Right. We should check it out. I really don't like these things, but we'll be okay, right?"

Turning her attention back to the large cat again, Kierra casts cure light wounds.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

"There you go kitty..."


Unless you want to check out this room anymore I am going to assume everyone wants to go through door 1-2. (There is nothing left in here)


Nalun did not find any traps in his 20 minutes of searching. Yorn double checks and does not find any traps either.

So.....who opens the door? Nalun asks as he backs away from the door, he glances at Yorn and Mark.


Got ahead of myself....go ahead with your prep.


Yorn opens the door with Mark and Maggie ready to attack.

The door opens into darkness you can see no further then the 20 feet beyond your light source.

The air is musty but not as stale as you might expect, did some of the villagers come this way?

You still hear the moaning but this room does not seem to be the source.

The hallway is 10 feet wide and longer then you can see its end. 15 feet up the hall there is a turn in the hall to the right.

"Mark, can Maggie look ahead? I would think she can see better than us, and she should be pretty quiet right?"

I just hope she doesn't get in trouble...

Kierra looks on the ground for any piece of rubble, a small rock or branch. Coming up with a small chunck of crumbled rock, she casts light on the stone. "Let's see what's down there first." She tosses the stone down the hall to see if anything is illuminated by the light.


The rock tossed down the hall reveals that the hall keeps going forward for at least 20 more feet straight ahead. You also see that it forks about 30 feet ahead.

You are standing at Entrance. Ignore the dots and X's they are just filler. Each letter is 5X5 each number is 5x5 making a 5X10 square for each A1,A2 etc.
So 30 feet to B3 and 55 feet from entrance to D1. Make sense?


If that is readable to you let me know I will probably need to do this in the future some as well. Kinda a impossible room to describe accurately

If there is a map on a pdf file, you can extract the map or picture, edit it in ms paint or other editing software and then upload it to google docs so we can see it. If you would like me to do it, I can. I'll not breath a word of spoilers or anything.


We will see. If I need to go that route I will. I don't want people to have to reference other sights and things in case they can't access it from work or something.

I just build my maps in Excel if needed. Here's how.

Marco nods at Kierra after thanking her for the healing, and sends Maggie down the corridor, whispering "Keep quiet," to her.

Maggie stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

She slips off into the corridor, keeping her ears perked and eyes wide open.

Perception with low-light vision: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

Mechanical traps, yes magical no


Maggie does not smell anything living or dead in this room.

I don't agree with a tiger understanding a mechanical trap so...

Maggie walks forward to area B3 and falls into a pit trap!

Thanks to her cat reflexes and the large pillows that have been placed at the bottom she takes no damage at all.

Mark winces when Maggie falls, but with a loud meow, Maggie indicates that she's alright. "Oh Mags.."

Yes the hall is well lighted from the stone thrown down it.

Maggie climbs out no problem.

Kierra, looking around at the rest of the group..."Should we go down there?"

Kierra, taking each step carefully so as not to be surprised by another trap, leads the way and warily searches the floor, touching in front of her with her spear before she takes each step.

Kierra pauses at the opening in the hallway to wait for everyone else.

"There's a door there. Yorn, why don't you check it out?"


I think Yorn is away Ill roll for him

Yorn flushes when a bit when Kierra speaks directly to him and walks to the door to look it over.

Assuming Kierra uses Guidance...
Perception: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20

Yorn:

The door is locked mechanically but it is not trapped. Maybe we can find a switch to open it? That is my best guess.
