Arca's spell and Orvignato's readied action go into effect in the surprise round. Kelendra will have to wait until her turn
As Arca began to cast, the man pulled the trigger on the heavy crossbow hidden under his desk. The warhead-tipped quarrel blasted through the thin wooden panel, striking Anklebiter in the belly and exploding into flame. Orvignato then leaned over to avoid the spell, picked up a heavy flail and lashed it out at Lefrik who was still trying to get to his dagger. The flail crunched into the barbarian. "Get the wizard!" he shouted, followed by "Kalan!"
From one of the closed rooms, a door burst open and a drider scuttled into the hallway. It looked too large to fit in the narrow passage, but its multi-jointed legs simply folded and splayed out, running along the walls as much as on the floor. It scuttled right up to Kelendra.
The bodyguards, not hired for their slowness, exploded into action. Drawing their rapiers, one stabbed at Anklebiter, narrowly missing the dodging wizard. The other stabbed Kelendra, who was preparing to cast her protection spell.
Remember, none of you have weapons except for daggers.

Drawing her dagger, she quickly casts a spell: "Goddess, s$@$ f~@+ a%*!+$$ f*$+ s$%* a#*@+~# s@@% f&$!!"
Casting blistering invective: You unleash an insulting tirade so vicious and spiteful that enemies who hear it are physically scorched by your fury. When you cast this spell, make an Intimidate check to demoralize each enemy within 30 feet of you. Kelendra's spell caused the air around Orvignato to freeze, but the burly drow shrugged off the worst of the effects. Bruendor tried to wrest the blade away from his nearest opponent, but the drow yanked back the blade out of his reach. Then, Calla's fire hit. Shouts of pain and surprise echoed through the upstairs as every drow in range was burned by Calla's invective. The spider on Orvignato's arm was burnt to a crisp, and the smell of burned hair filled the room.

Screams erupt from below and the floor trembles as the great rubbery tentacles burst upwards. They immediately wind around the drider and pull it off balance, bludgeoning it. Orvignato isn't so easily captured, though, and dodges swiftly, moving fast for a drow of his bulk. He rolled over the desk, coming to his feet in a lithe motion and slamming his flail into Anklebiter. The thug behind the caster also attacked, pinning Anklebiter between them and driving his rapier into Anklebiter's shoulder. The other thug, seeing the drider wrapped up, hesitated between Kelendra and Bruendor, trying to make up his mind. It was only a brief hesitation, however, and Kelendra felt a pain below her left breast as the thin rapier plunged into a soft spot between her armor.

Next round you can withdraw into that room (I hope) and then Lefrik and I can form a barrier for you and give you some space to cast. And actually, if you hold your action until after I move, you can 5-ft. step to where I was standing to get us spaced out a bit more and maybe make it so you can do a couple 5-ft. steps to get where you want to be.

cast blessing of fervor on the party, lasts 8 rounds
With this blessing, you call your allies to move forth and empower them to conquer and become victorious. Each round for the duration of this spell, each of your allies can choose one of the following bonuses for that round at the beginning of its turn (their choice).
Increase its speed by 30 feet.
Stand up as a swift action without provoking an attack of opportunity.
Make one extra attack as part of a full attack action, using its highest base attack bonus.
Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
Cast a single spell of 2nd level or lower as if it were an enlarged, extended, silent, or still spell.
These effects are not cumulative with similar effects, such as those provided by haste or a speed weapon, nor do they actually grant an extra action, so you can't use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round. Blessing of fervor does not stack with haste.

Excellent. We seem to have gotten AB to a safe spot. Now to see how the GM makes it all go to poop! :)
Any preference on my actions -- I could also safely cast here -- maybe magic weapon to give one of us +2/+2 to his weapon or heroism to give Staryth +2 to attacks, saves and skills; or I think I can step forward and get three attacks on Orviganto (though I probably need Lefrik to take a 5-ft. step to allow me to do so), which might be more valuable.

With Anklebiter finally getting to a safe spot to get his spell off, it looked as if the tide might be turning in favor of the companions. Then, calamity struck. Calla and Lefrik interfered with each other, and Calla just managed to feel her blade sliding across Orvignato's armor. Kelendra tried to cast int eh close confines, with the drider pressed up against her, but she just couldn't concentrate on her spell. In a flurry of lightning fast maneuvers, Bruendor disarmed the nearby drow thugs, sending their blades clattering to the ground.
Orvignato pressed Bruendor hard, his flail whipping around to catch the rouge a brutal blow from behind, then again at his legs. The pain was excruciating, and it was all Bruendor could do to stay upright. Both of the disarmed thugs grabbed for the daggers at their belts and slashed at the wounded Breundor, giving him a pair of stab wounds to go with his other injuries. Kelendra set the floor to smoldering with her shooting stars, but the drider squealed in pain and fury. It lashed out at her again with its mace, catching her another blow.
Brundor, surrounded by foes, draws a number of attacks from both the drow thugs and Orvignato himself. He put the leader's flail as the highest threat to avoid, slipping past it easily, but opened himself up to the dagger thrust of the thugs. Both daggers connected on his neck, gouging deeply, but his agile movements kept either thug from hitting anything too vital. Calla missed her strikes, but Lefrik got a solid hit on Orvignato, cutting deeply into the drow's arm.
A pop of displaced air signaled the completion of Anklebiter's spell as his newly summoned reinforcements arrived.
Remember, none of you have weapons except for daggers.
