Torean Spellbane |
Torean stops and puts the boots on, finding them a nice fit and quite comfortable. "Not bad, keeps a fellow warm and toasty." He moves quickly to catch up to the others.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
"Torag's beard! Look at this place. Something tore it up. Something big." He hefts his hammer and cautiously walks into the room.
Gunnar Sigrunsson |
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 17
"Indeed, something has torn this up, and it may still be around," Gunnar says, affixing his shield to his arm and drawing his axe as he slowly moves through the room.
Krumthi Tasartir |
Perception check: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
taking my mace out and placing it in my main hand and the dagger in my other.
I am not sure what the cause of this wreackage is but something is wrong, I can feel it in my toes.
DM Beckett |
I guess I forgot to include it. Can I get Fort Saves from everyone.
DM Beckett |
Altitude and for those that fail, Fatigue
And it does look like you can use Survival (DC 15) to grant a +2 to those saves. It looks like it's cumulative, and by every 1 point above 15, you can give it to another person. It looks like Endure Elements does not help, but if anyone has that, I'll say +4 on the save, or +2 with cold weather gear.
You can use Survival Untrained, so my suggestion is to have one person roll, and everyone else try to Aid Another. It's just a DC 10 to Aid Another, so most of you look like its near 50/50.
Wyran Mesari |
Wyran recalls his experiences with altitude, passing the knowledge onto his companions. "The air is thinner up here. Take your time, to acclimate."
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 Enough to give everyone the bonus
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Torean Spellbane |
The boots give Torean Endure Elements, so if the bonuses come up short next time, he can be left out. Honestly with a +9 to his Fort Save, he's probably ok.
"Let's take a look around quickly though. If we can get back to lower ground sooner, then it'll be the best for all of us."
The dwarf moves off to examine the bell and the structure around it.
Zane Allan |
Zane takes a moment to cast Endure Elements.
fort: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 + 4 = 13
SOB all those bonuses and I roll a 3 so I still don't make it. I'm wearing a cold weather outfit too, if the +2 from that stacks I'll just make it.
DM Beckett |
@Zane, sure, why not.
Aeden Fort Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
With that out of the way, we can get on with what happens.
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23
Smelling you enter, a smaller than normal sized Yeti comes up from around a corner. It seems to have been sleeping in a small patch of snow, and it also seems to be a bit of a runt for it' kind, smaller and more wiry than most.
Vrockwing, you notice it just in time to get to act in the surprise round.
Aeden: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Gunnar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Krumthi: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Torean: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Vrockwing: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Wyran: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Zane: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Yeti Runt

Aeden, Torean, Gunnar, Zane, & Wyran
Seriously, if it wasn't for the final encounter, I wish you guys had played up. This is a little ridiculous. 6 vs a CR 2
Vrockwing |
During surprise round that is...if I can get adjacent I will make full attack during round 1 if not then I will move up and punch

DM Beckett |
It seems that Vrockwing and the Yeti have the same plan, as he waits, it simple takes a 5ft step remaining behind the cover of some large masonry.
Init Round 1
Vrockwing & Krumthi
---------------------
Yeti Runt
---------------------
Aeden, Torean, Gunnar, Zane, & Wyran
DM Beckett |
Vrockwing and Krumthi can both double move to flank, but will not be able to attack.
DM Beckett |
As Krumthi and Vrockwing move up into position, the creatures eyes flash, Krumthi feels something frightful assault his mind, but is able to push it back. Vrockwing is not o fortunate, and simply stops where he is, paralyzed with fear. (for 1 round)
Vrockwing Will: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6 <FAIL>
Krumthi Will: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 <now immune>
Im assuming you do not want to continue all the way forward by yourself.
The Yeti grabs a short spear off it's back and hurls it at Krumthi.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 <HIT, possible Crit>
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Yeti Runt
---------------------
Aeden, Torean, Gunnar, Zane, & Wyran
Now that you have seen it has some sort of gaze attack, you can attempt to avert your eyes (gives you a 50% miss chance on the gaze, but also gives the Yeti Concealment towards you) or you can blindfold yourself, (immune to the gaze, but 50% chance that your attacks miss it). Or you can try to get lucky. It only seems to have a short range.
Torean Spellbane |
Torean hustles up the stairs and along the scaffolding, hoping it gives him some cover against the monster for a moment. He tries to avert his eyes from the monster until he's ready to hit it.
DM Beckett |
Sure. I tend to have then around my forehead, so I can just put them on, so if you want to say you had them like that, it's cool with me.
Aeden Caladbolg |
"I do not fear you, beast!" Aedan says, rushing forward and attacking.
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 = 13
DM Beckett |
That will hit, but is not enough to kill the creature, only make it mad.
Somebody might need to heal the Pali here in a second. . .
Init Round 1
Vrockwing & Krumthi

Yeti Runt

Aeden, Torean, Gunnar, Zane, & Wyran
Gunnar Sigrunsson |
Gunnar hurries to Aedan's side, ready to protect him.
Definitely using saving shield +2 shield bonus to Aeden's AC. If I can, I'll also use Bodyguard (not sure if I need to be adjacent to it for defensive aid another) for +4 untyped bonus to AC.
Aid Another vs. AC 10: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 <HIT>
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (4) = 8 <4 of which is cold>
Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 <miss>
Torean Spellbane |
"Outta the way Aedan!" Torean shouts and he pauses for a moment to allow the Paladin to clear a space. Then he rushes up to where Aedan previously stood and swings his hammer.
Wait until Aedan clears the square and then move into it.

damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

My d20s are horrible the last few days.
DM Beckett |
Sorry, I was expecting to have my own internet last night, but it wouldn't work. Soon, and I will be able to update.
DM Beckett |
Zane and Aeden manage to bring the creature down, while Wyran returns Krumthi to the land of the living. Going down the stairs at two corners of the room, you see that it leads to another hallway, with two more doors.
Opening the first one, you see eleven ruined mattresses and a few aged and cracked pots are this room’s only furnishings. A section of the ceiling has collapsed in the northwestern corner of the room, causing the wind to howl eerily as it blows over the building. A series of images has been carved into the still-standing sections of the room’s walls, each image indicating a humanoid in a series of different positions and stances.
To the south you find another room like the one up north, though this one seems to be a dining hall and kitchen. Two large, corroded cooking pots dominate the center of this otherwise unadorned, long, tiered room.
Further search of the northern and southern rooms reveals nothing.
Finally trying the middle door, you find a small stairway leading down and into the exercise yard. The remains of four wooden training dummies stand in the northeast corner of this wide courtyard, while a few scraggly plants struggle to grow in the southeast corner. A cracked mosaic lies half-buried beneath years of dirt in the training ground’s center. From the yard, you see two other doors.
Torean Spellbane |
Torean uses a wand from his pack on Aedan.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
"Well, someone pick a door." He examines the training yard.
