Sorry for botching the first initiative already, I'm new to DMing PbP and having combat run smooth versus the exploration and social aspects.

For future reference, I plan on rolling initiative for everyone. I plan on letting everyone act in one chunk when there is multiple PCs in the initiative between NPC actions.

For example, this current combat:

1) Bazim acts first.

2) Then the ??? and werewolf acts.

3) Then all PCs post their actions with the actual order of actions not being tracked religiously.

As a second example, here's a sample initiative order: Mythandir, two zombies, Emron, a zombie, Bazim and Balandusk

1) Mythandir acts

2) The first two zombies act

3) Emron acts

4) The next zombie acts

5) Bazim, Balandusk, and Mythandir can all act

I am 100% open for using different initiative system if this doesn't work for everyone.

I have no problem with you rolling for initiative for us, and the system you are proposing sounds fine to me. I see my horrible luck when it comes to initiative rolls is still going strong.

I myself have played anything since last August, and pbp is basically brand new to me as well. As is using an alias for posts.

I am good with it...it speeds up the game so is good!!

How are we doing hp as we level? I couldn't find anything mentioned previously.

Average HP at level, the value in the brackets in the Hit Points at Higher Levels in the PHB.

I'm doing maintenance on my glaive and leveling up during the rest.

short rest HP: 1d12 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Not a problem. It makes it easy when you can't really be killed.

How do swarms work in 5e? Anything like Pathfinder?

They have similarities, but you can attack them easier and their resistances are not as extreme.

Are these blades clearly mechanical or supernatural?

We can get one of the coffin lids and throw it in and see if it clogs things up.

They appear both - like they are metal but they move like tentacles and there's no possible way for a mechanism to control them.

Is the area laid out in such a way that we could get below the attic where we are now? We're basically three fighters so I'm not sure dealing with a insta-gib trap is in our wheelhouse.

The spiral staircase runs from the basement all the way up to the attic. That's about the best I can give you without you saying you want to try something.

What kind of actions do I need to get off Emrons shoulders and ready myself? I assume Move and Standard?

I would call it a move.

OK, I'm back. Urrnir, it would be part of a move action to get off Emron's shoulders - you would still have your action and bonus action.
