Nice, let's do this!
Black Dow, Kevkul, Disa
Hálette Droost! Great to lay eyes on you. Is Pater in the Longhouse? Why are the gatu closed? I heard there was some áglác?
Hálette - Hail, Greetings, Salute
gatu - gates
áglác - trouble, grief
After greeting the Dwarf, Droost, Luke casually, but with a practiced eye, looks around the immediate area of Kustnir to determine if he sees any strangers or effects of the rumored problems.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25

The night passes uneventfully enough, for sure there was no sign of the sour Hinderlings that Durwin spoke of earlier... perhaps the grizzled ferryman is losing it... perhaps not...
A wordless dawn breakfast of salty fish and porridge is enough to remind you Durwin isn't a morning soul, and moreso isn't best pleased at your apparent need to help a village that has never helped you...
When the time comes the merely gives you a nod, followed by a scowl. Durwin presses the pipe he looked out for you into your hand;
"Incase yer own ain't in that jotunn's pack o' yours... Man shouldn't be in the wilds without a pipa..."
He scowls again... "Well be on yer way then Muli o' the Wudu... and when them Hinderlanders are skinning yer fine fur don't say I told ye so! Heh!"
The door, cold morning haar and Kustnir await...
Wudu = wild
Haar = mist/fog
[ooc]Muli is literally an hour or so from Kustnir. Two choices - either you meander your way there (herb picking and such) and arrive just as the others do... or they arrived overnight and you'll appear as they are roused to meet the eolder of Kustnir - I've no preference but the latter seems more... plausable?

Droost sneers with his usual gruffness at Luke's welcome;
"Pah. Course Pater is in the longhouse - been there all day arguing like fishwives on the best thing to do... Gates closed to keep the likes o' nihtgenga such as you pair out..."
The dwarf eyes Kevkul with a less than welcoming stare and is about to comment when a young woman comes bounding down the stockade, immediately embracing Luke in a warm hug.
Droost spits and mutters;
"Klenna... Pater Fisc's daughter... She'll show ye to your bunks... Some o' us have work to do..."
Droost walks back to the gate, signalling to close it. The dwarf reeks of fish and smoke as he passes...
Still smiling, Klenna escorts you both towards the villages drinking lodge "The Kelpie's Net".
"It's late and the ealders will be later still in making a decision. May I suggest you bed the night at the Net and in the morn Pater will call for you all... With the Northman there too it is a squeeze but your all of mannoyst huh?" Her emerald eyes twinkle as she smiles and beckons towards the small drinking lodge...
Nihtgenga = goblin/thing that prowls the night
mannoyst = manly virtue

Kevkul, Ragnar, Black Dow, and Disa (if she follows}:
Luke smiles bashfully before awkwardly embracing Klenna again. He turns to the northman.
I am Luke Falgren, what is your ágennama? Care to join my friend and I for ealoþu in the Net?
ágennama - name
ealoþu - ales/drinks

Game thread will go live tomorrow morning [my time] - we'll pick things up as you all mingle in the Kelpie's Net before Muli arrives with the morn.
Disa is right behind Kevkul & Luke, can be rp'd or just have her enter the game thread when up.
Meeting with the ealder's won't happen til the morn, but there'll be opportunity to meet, swap tales and gossip like fishwives about the strange goings on in this wee village...
Who knows something might even visit in the nicht... ;)

Game thread up!
Muli you happy to arrive into precedings in the morning? If not as discussed you can join the rest of the group after meandering to Kustnir...
The purpose and true opening won't happen until the next morning, but with a village accursed, rumours to spread and villagers to scare, you pesky outlanders might as well start early lol.

Hey all. Sorry for the prolonged absence. I moved last Friday and then promptly got sick. I didn't have Internet access at home (and none of my neighbors were nice enough to leave me an unsecured wireless network). The cable company finally came out today to install the cable modem at home just in time for me to return to work. I'll get to posting as soon as I can tonight. I will get caught up on posts as I am able tonight.

Hope the slow intro pace is to everyone's liking... things will pick up :)
Nature of the snowbeast is that there's ALOT of character set-up in this... want you all to give a monkeys
If things are too slow or too detailed let me know and I'll move things along more - most important folk are you lot!

So the game is afoot...
Hope your enjoying the NPC pics - I'm also linking them to my profile, along with general background info as we go, but I'll give you all the heads up as new stuff appears.
For sheer nostalgia's sake here's Papa Kusrt (as he was known in the original - now Pater Fisc)
Hopefully my interpretations are a slight improvement on the old art (which will make some appearances!) lol.

Drayen totally understand... I'd prefer not to replace you unless we really feel the need to, as you've supported and been interested in this since I mentioned it!
Am happy to DMPC Disa if necessary or if you'd like someone else to run her in your stead?
We can also have her opt to stay back and protect the village, while the rest of the party explore etc... Again your call mate.
Is the workload likely to ease, or will you be neck deep for the longterm? If its longterm I can open recruitment for another character, then as/when Drayen is able we can have Disa rejoin [the sandlot nature of the first part of the Saga means this is do-able]
Hope things ease off for you in the future - Skane won't be the same fun without his shield-brodur :)
| Black Dow: DM O' The North |
Regards Disa I've plumped for her staying in village to offer increased protection. New term at Uni has started which means I'm always snowed under with advice sessions and teaching commitments - tis the nature of the beast!
Thus DMPC'ing Disa isn't really an option, and the Kustnir option means Drayen can easily pick up as/when he's able and if worst comes to worst I can slot in a new recruitment that was a latecomer to the village's aid.
Hope this is cool with everyone?
Does mean the group will be a little short-handed potentially, but your all big boys who'll be fine without your guardian angel for a little while at least lol.

Mead. check.
Wenches. check.
Mead carrying wenches... think I can manage something there...
Defo can promise a strong backed and meaty armed woman... or three... heheheh ;)
See I knew there would be a proviso for you lot signing up...
So all signs point to the game becoming The Hangover III: Snowbound and Down...
On a lighter note lol, this funky new campaign function on the boards means I can stop cluttering my MacSasquatch profile with all the bountiful creative gems I keep bequeathing to you all :)

Without a doubt the 100% best feature is that I can go to one page on my profile and see all of my PbPs; including if any have been updated with new posts.
Absolute god-send and saving me from filtering through for the 13 PbPs I'm currently involved in.
