(Not certain what round count we're on, as the picture shows the ships already grappled. (Thought that would take 5 rounds, but okay. :P))
Ah sorry, my mistake for pushing things ahead a little to far. Most everyone seemed to be waiting for an actual boarding to happen.
If you still want to try and sunder them I can roll back slightly. You will be attempting to sunder iron if you want to go for it in the 5 rounds between when the bolts were fired and the time it takes to wind the cranks. The bolts or spears are a metal haft near 10' in length, a loop in the metal at the end is where the rope is tied, and it out of reach. They are about an inch thick.| Aria Stellar |
Round 2-5 of Incoming
As the bolts charge through the wind of wall she put up to protect the crew, Aria grabs her sword and moves to intercept. With Cloudcleaver, she makes a solid forceful swing on the iron bolt piercing the ship's wood.
Sunders
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 for
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 dmg
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25 for
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 for
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18 for
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
A total of 13 points of damage. Not bad for hacking at something made of iron. Still didn't break it though.
In all honesty, the wind wall lasted the same time as the grappling and winding. So it would have been over on the round after the planks were lowered. Hopefully they fired something other than their grappling ballistae and made it worth the effort.
GM Ascension
There were a few arrows wasted on their end, but not many.
Aria bangs away at the metal spear in the side of the ship, attempting to dislodge it or snap the haft. Surprisingly flakes and chips of metal come away as she hammers at it with her strange weapon. She is compelled to back off though as the boarding planks come crashing down.
Shouts of alarm come from the enemies crows nest as angry currents of air buffet the man with the longbow. He manages to maintain his perch though.
Just as Aria's wall of wind ends a sickly looking yellowish green vapor envelopes much of the enemy ship, shrouding it from sight. A great deal of choking, gagging, and spluttering is heard from within the cloud.
Mikal Amakiir
initiative 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
As the ships are closing, before the boarding ballistae were fired, Mikal took two shots at the 'captain' in the breast plate.
attack one 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
attack two 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Once the ship settles from the listing of the boarding process, Mikal lets go of his death grip on the mast. Mikal pronuonces a judgement of justice on the pirates, Abadar, bring your judgement to bear and punish their greed.
Mikal fires at the undine at O14, and then will draw his longsword and move to M14 to deal with anyone trying to board by that plank."Hold the line at the planks, Let them come to us and we will drive them into the sea."
attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
damage 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Save for the spell would be Fort, DC 19
Garion Tathos
Don't forget the +1 for Bless, everybody. Bless fills your allies with courage. Each ally gains a +1 morale bonus on attack rolls and on saving throws against fear effects.
Garion attacks the undine at N20 with his mace.
Mace: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
GM Ascension
The first shot Mikal fires hits the figure of the half-orc squarely, but the the arrow breaks on his breastplate. The second arrow is pulled into the sea by a sudden down gust of wind.
Init order is
Vados
Mikal
Pirates
Talathel
Cindy
Garion
Sailors on your ship
Aria
Skyfire
So Vados and Mikal are up. If you already know what you plan to do Mikal you don't need to wait for Vados to post.
The man with the tower shield at P20 does not appear to have been affected by the stinking cloud. P15, O16, and O20 were all affected. Everyone else of N15-N21 is hidden in the cloud of fog. The archer in the crows nest was to high up to be affected by the cloud.
I will get a new map posted tonight with whatever takes place during the combat today.
Vados Umbaran
Vados notices an undine attacker unphased by the stinking cloud. Using his now massive limbs, Vados tenses and then strikes at him with two colossal blows.
Using Power Attack and Flurry of Blows with my fancy '10 reach on the undine in O17. I've got a +1 to attack rolls from Bless, and a +1 to attack rolls and +1 to damage from Inspire Courage.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 6) + 9 = 16
Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Damage:2d6 + 9 ⇒ (3, 3) + 9 = 15
Mikal Amakiir
Mikal moves to the plank at M14 and readies his longsword to repel anyone coming across. Readied action to attack anyone who threatens his square.
Attack 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 (added +1 justice judgement, +1 bless)
damage 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Mikal calls out over the rising sounds of battle,"Aria, can skyfire take out the archer in the crows nest? We need to occupy him with something other than making pin cushions of us."
GM Ascension
Over the sound of those coughing in the mist is the growling and shouts of more men and booted feet hitting the boarding planks.
The man with the tower shield moves forward, drawing a short sword as he does. He exhales a breath of air as he exits from the mist, then takes a slash at Garion. His swing is poorly aimed though and the half-elf easily avoids the blow.
Several humans run over the planks towards Vados, gasping for air, weapons held limply in their hands.
A half-orc in leather leaps out of the green mist slashing wildly, Mikal cuts him down before he gets close enough to land a blow. Another charges up the left most plank striking at Mikal as he does so. The inquisitor easily parries with a ringing of metal on metal, all while dodging a thrust from a long spear from the nearby undine. Two more undines near the front of the ship point their spears in Mikal's direction and twin streams of water gush forth from the tips of their spears. The strength of the stream pushes the man back several steps, one hand out to catch onto the foremast for support with Cindy Lu having to shove at him from behind to keep him standing.
Ignoring the air elementals harassing him the man in the crows nest takes a shot at Aria. The arrow brushes against her clothing and embeds itself in the deck of the ship.
Units with a gray X over them are those still coughing from the toxic fumes.
Units with a red circle are unconscious or dead.
Vados you may take a single AoO against one of L17, M17 or M13
Talathel, Cindy (and Air elementals), Garion, Aria and Skyfire may act. I'll have the sailors use their xbows to try and clean up anything that doesn't quite fall over. Then Vados will be up again after that. Mikal's readied action now puts him going right after the pirates.
Cindy Lu
The air elementals swarm the archer, but this time they stay adjacent to him so that if he fires it will provoke. They seem inspired by the bard and the bless. If for some reason they would not get these team bonuses please just subtract them. 3 rounds of attacks remaining. remaining.
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 151d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 261d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 121d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 + 1 = 3
Cindy begins to cough and hack and then suddenly begins to wretch. From her mouth a swarm of spiders poor forth into squares LM/12,13 with a direction to swarm over the leftmost plank. But finding a meal in their starting square they happily swarm over the hapless man.
Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6 + Poison Fort DC of 11. Frequency1/round for 2 rounds; Effect 1d2 strength damage; Cure 1 save
After casting Cindy moves to K16. Stay out of the spiders Cindy cautions.
Note this swarm is somewhat under my control. It will try to eat anything in its path, advancing as I initially indicate if nothing is there for it to feed upon, but stopping if it finds a target.
GM Ascension
Vados kick to the man's stomach crumples him unconscious to the deck.
As the spiders pour forth from Cindy's open mouth the nearby thug cringes in disgust and horror, stomping at them as they begin to climb up his legs and onto his arms. His teeth grimacing as he maintains his eyes on Mikal and Vados standing nearby.
With the air elementals continuing to harass him, the bowman in the crows nest topples from his perch, landing on the deck below with a sickening crunch.

Round 2
(mage armor, shield, bless, inspired courage)
Skyfire screeches back to Aria's shoulder, who looks around in some dismay at the massive green cloud covering most of the opposing ship. "My tactical options are somewhat limited now." But she has little time to complain further as the tower-shielded man steps forward and attacks Garion.
She says a few magical words as she conjures electrical energy to a small rod of glass in her hand and quickly makes her way to Garion's other side , leaning against the stairs to the aftcastle. (Silly me. I meant of course the sterncastle, I think. The opposite of the forecastle.) When her lips stop moving, she raises her hand and blasts the tower-shielded man with a lightning bolt to the face.
Move to M21
Cast lightning bolt N20, O19, P18, Q17, R16, S15, T14, U13, etcetera, for 120 feet line or until it hits a barrier it wouldn't be able to burn through. It inflicts 5d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 6, 1) = 20 damage. Ref DC 16 for half.
Concentration: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Skyfire double moves back to Aria.

"You'd think they would have sent raiders better suited to attack something." Seeing his allies take out the entire board party on his side, Talathel quickly moves closer to the other boat to get the attackers not obscured by the crow's nest.
Move to M18.
Attack M13 with Longbow.
1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 16 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 13
GM Ascension
The flash of lightning bursting from Aria's hands leaves after images echoing in your eyes. The poisonous green vapors turning a pale yellow briefly. The target of her blast lets out a howl of pain but holds his ground.
Talathel's arrow takes another in the ribs and he collapses in a heap, Cindy's spiders continuing to swarm over the poor fool.
Garion, the xbowmen, and Vados are still up
GM Ascension
Garion's spell grips the man and he freezes up completely paralyzed.
The snick of crossbow echos around you as the sailors let lose a barrage of bolts. Their aim is poor however and only a single bolt draws blood.
Wow, that was a lot of low rolls, only 2 above 10
Vados is up then the pirates.
I added icons for the spider swarm and the air elementals.
Vados Umbaran
Cindy Lu, do you know the number of rounds remaining on Enlarge Person?
After felling the spluttering human to his left, Vados transfers the momentum of his attack into another flurry of blows. He first strikes at an advancing undine with an outstretched fist, following up with a kick at the choking human behind him.
Flurry of Blows. The first attack is at the Undine in O14 (with reach), the second at the human in M17. (Bless, Inspire Courage, Power Attack)
Undine Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 292d6 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 6) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 16
Roll to Confirm: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 182d6 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2, 5) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 16
Human Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 172d6 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 12
Cindy Lu
Cindy Lu, do you know the number of rounds remaining on Enlarge Person?
The spell lasts 1 minute/level, so a total of 5 minutes. You have used 5 rounds, so 45 to go. :) It is dismissable if you want it gone, although that would require a standard action on my part. The Stinking Cloud has 2 rounds left, the elementals 3, and the spiders 4. But your character might not know these durations without a spellcraft roll or some experience with a conjurer type.
GM Ascension
A whirlwind of destruction, Vados attack on the undine strikes so hard the mans head snaps back with a audible cracking of bone. A spray of blood from the mans shattered nose and his entire body spasms for a moment as he slips off the plank into the depths. A round house kick to the next victim knocks the man to the ground where he lies unmoving.
Another undine comes stumbling out of the fog, feet slipping on the greased plank but somehow managing to keep his balance. M18
You hear a body go down hard on the planks as someone else slips in the grease.
The undines who knocked Mikal back now rush forward on the plank, stabbing at the monk with their long spears but neither is able to land a hit.
Vados you make take an AoO against either M18 or N13.
Another stumbles out of the fog letting out his held breath, he also focuses on Vados, lowering his spear and sending forth a jet of water. Vados large size allows him to shrug it off and stand his ground.
The last man on the foredeck draws his short bow, taking a shot at Mikal. The arrow impales the foremast of your own ship, quivering in the wood.
With a deafening cry the half-orc with the breastplate reappears next to Vados, great axe already in full swing, a lust for blood in eyes. Caught unawares the monk is unable entirely escape the attack and a thin line of blood appears along his chest and right arm. Vados takes 25 points of damage Continuing his swing the great axe hammers into Mikal. Mikal's armor protects him from the worst of it but he is crushed up against the foremast. Mikal takes 22 points of damage.
Entire party may state their actions.

Round 3
(mage armor, shield, bless, inspired courage?)
Aria takes a little bit of control in the situation. She turns to Garion, noticing that their enemy was stiff as a board. "Go. Help the others. That half orc is more trouble than the lot of them combined."
levitate
Concentration 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
With that, she begins to levitate above her current location, holding on to the rope rigging of the ship as she levitates 20 ft into the air, and now hopefully able to see the half orc over Vados's massive frame.
Skyfire spreads his wings, hoping to stabilize himself with the sudden movement, and anxious for another combat strike.
Mikal Amakiir
Spiders! why did she have to use spiders. at least they are going the other way.
Mikal winces in pain as the half-orc strikes his blow. That must have been the noise I heard on the foredeck, one of these days I am going to learn to pay better attention.
He switches his judgement to destruction Meet your doom half-breed, and makes a power attack on the half-orc.
attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17 (+1 bless, -2 power attack)
damage 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 (+2 destruction, +4 power attack
Vados Umbaran
(Bless, Inspire Courage)
Reveling in the flow of the battle, Vados quickly finds another target, hoping to hammer them down with a vicious axe kick.
AoO on N13
AoO: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 232d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (5, 1) + 6 + 1 = 13
Vados takes a second to survey his handiwork on the deck, and allows himself a small grin. It is almost too late when he sees the raging half-orc next to swinging, already swinging his axe. Vados snaps out of his reverie and attempts to twist away from the blow, but it's too late, as the half-orc swipes his blade across Vados and Mikal, drawing blood.
Furious at the half-orc, but even more upset with himself for becoming distracted, Vados taps into his energy flow, and releases it into a hailstorm of fists at the half-orc.
Flurry of Blows w/ Power Attack, spending 1 from my Ki Pool to add an extra attack to FoB.
Attack 1:1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 122d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 12
Attack 2:1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 112d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 15
Attack 3:1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 162d6 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4, 6) + 6 + 2 + 1 = 19
Haha, yikes! My luck is starting to run out.
Cindy Lu
With a wave of her arm and and a point at the enemy archer the summoned air elementals swarm the new ranged threat. They stay close to discourage further ranged attacks.
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 201d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 121d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
Air Elemental Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 91d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
The spider swarm feeds on its prey who failed to move away from it.
Spider Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3 + Poison DC 11 Fort, + Distraction DC 11 Will.
Cindy focus her gaze on the half orc, using her Slumber hex on the creature. DC18 will save or sleep for 5 rounds
Stinking Cloud will end at the end of her next round.
GM Ascension
The half-orcs eyelids grow heavy for a brief moment, but he shakes off the hex with a primal growl. The distraction allows Mikal to slip past his defenses, giving him a shallow cut on his left hip. Vados is able to land a single kick to his rib cage. A cruel smile breaks out on the half-orcs face as he takes in the pain.
The swarm of spiders continues to crawl all over the unconscious man, leaving a queasy feeling in your stomachs while the air elementals harass the archer. The man avoids the first to but is unable to dodge the attack of the third.
Aria floating 20' above the deck doesn't quite have a clear view over Vados' towering frame. Another 10' will give you a clear shot
The crossbowman having better luck with their second volley. One undine O13 takes a bolt to the shoulder. Another nicks the half-orc on his right arm. A third strikes the man with the shield, and as the affects of the Garion's spell cease to function on the man he slumps to the plank unconscious.
Garion and Talathel are up, then the pirates.
Cindy Lu
The swarm of spiders continues to crawl all over the unconscious man, leaving a queasy feeling in your stomachs while the air elementals harass the archer. The man avoids the first to but is unable to dodge the attack of the third.
Your current map, nor the map before it shows the man in the spider swarm as down. How is he unconscious? Spiders did first 6, and then 3 damage to him. Maybe he took a crossbow or a hit from Mikal or Vados? If he has fallen the spiders will advance to M,N/13,14. Thanks.
Talathel Miriel
3/14 Bardic Performance rounds used.
Move to J12.
Talathel weaves in and out of the crossbowmen, looking for a clear shot. When he finds it, he takes the shot, aiming for the half-orc. All the while, he keeps his voice loud and clear for his fellow guards and crewmen to hear.
1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 26 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 = 8
Cindy Lu
The red circled units are the downed ones. You probably want to advance the spiders to O13.
Without using a standard action I do not get to pick where they go. They are sorta pre-programed to cross over the boarding plank and cross the ship and right over the edge and down the side, I guess. Not sure if they would move into the water or not. They stop moving when they have a conscious target to attack, attack it as long as its there, and then move on.
GM Ascension
@Garion, the unconscious man south of you is the one with the shield. The half-orc is at M14
@Cindy, the swarm attacks if there is a living target on a strict RAW reading - conscious or not. I'm not sure if that is the intent though or if unconscious is supposed to suffice for the swarms purposes of it being dead - though I picture it that they continue biting the target consuming the victim down to its bones. As to them going over the side of the ship I would have them stop at the edge of the water rather than committing suicide in it. And you could use a standard action to force them to move off of a target they are attacking.
Given an attack till dead ruling they will move south this next round if not otherwise directed as that target is now quite dead.
GM Ascension
Vados bleeding stops as healing energy flows into him at Garion's touch.
The half-orc changes grips on his axe and with a roar brings it swinging back at Mikal and Vados. Blood sprays from a nasty wound received by Mikal. 26 points of damage, ouch, leaving him at 1 HP The momentum of the swing is blunted only slightly as the axe crashes into Vados. 23 points of damage, 20 HP remaining.
The voice of a female chanting words of arcane power can be heard above the shouts of pain. A female undine appears out of thin air N13 as a spray of flames protrudes from her outstretched hands, consuming the spiders. Small flames lick at a few ropes near the foremast.
One of the few remaining undine stabs again at Vados with his long spear but is unable to find an opening.
The bowman switch to a short sword, slashing the air elementals assailing him but is to focused staying alive to be effective against them.
Figures with a blue circle around them are prone. Vados you may take an AoO on N17 as he comes slipping and stumbling out of the fog.
The noxious clouds disperse revealing more coughing and spluttering assailants reaching the deck from the rigging. Two more lie prone and unmoving, burn wounds on their clothing and skin.
Party may take actions.
Vados Umbaran
(Bless, Inspire Courage)
Vados grimaces as the axe rakes him for a second, and swats angrily at a hapless boarder stumbling out of the fog.
AoO on N17: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 222d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 + 1 = 18
Vados takes a moment to refocus, clearing his mind of distractions, and loosening his limbs. Taking a lower stance to reduce his profile, Vados raises both arms out to his sides, and swiftly brings his hands together, hoping to clap the half-orc's head in between them.
Spending 1 Ki to add a +4 dodge bonus to AC for one round, putting me up to 22 AC I believe. Stunning Fist on the half-orc to apply stunned condition (4 remaining today).
Stunning Fist: 1d20 + 8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 1 + 1 = 202d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5) + 6 + 1 = 18
DC for Fort save on Stunning Fist is 14 (10 + 1/2 lvl + Wis Mod)
GM Ascension
@Vados, you may still make a full attack with flurry while using stunning fist if you want, and even try to attempt a stunning fist hit with each attack - each attack whether successful or not using up one of your stunning fist usages for the day. Alternately if you are making only a single attack instead of using flurry then your attack bonus is +10 instead of +8. So you can take one additional attack here and try to stun again if you want.
Vados reflexively lashes out at the man stumbling out of the fog. The man stands there dazed a moment before collapsing.
Talathel's arrow pierces the brutes arm, going clean through at this close range. Vados clips him hard in the side of the head but the half-orc barely seems to notice the blow.
