Bambang Kuwatputra |
Bambang stumbles as his feels some of his strength leave him. Summoning up his will though, he continues his assault on the monster.

Wei Tchak |
]"I don't feel so good, I feel weak... not sure we can do anything about it, so just saying... may not be as effective as usual in combat."
Victor Mordenheim |
Well, by the looks of things, on this level, we have yet to explore Area 2, and Area 12.
Victor gives Tchak a sympathetic look.
"I hear you. I am just glad that we all got through that alive."
He then heads back to investigate Area 2.
As usual, Perception 'Take 20' on the doors, and then Perception 'Take 10' on the room, itself.
Wei Tchak |
"What about the switches ? they might open new areas... or just lock the pit traps I guess...
Bambang Kuwatputra |
"Hmm, that a possibility. But since this area appears empty for now, let's just leave it first. First priority is to find and rescue the young lady. And perhaps find some restoration for the two of us. If we hit a dead-end later, we can always return."
DM Amazing Red |
Area 12 it is.
A continuous carving of mourners runs along the walls here, leading to a staircase on the south side of the room. As you enter the room four blood covered skeletons drag themselves from behind the pillars.

V: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
W: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Bam and Tchak are up!
Wei Tchak |
Wei Tchak, not feeling up to taking on a skeleton with what will be an ineffective weapon against them, pulls out his sling and fires off a shot at one.
to hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
dmg if hits: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Bambang Kuwatputra |
Knowing the party won't be able to stand up to much beating for now, (or at least until we find some restoration potions :) ) Bambang focuses on the spirits harnessed within his pendant and draws forth a celestial pony to fight on his side.
He then steps forward to face the skeletons.
Standard action spend 1 conjuration mental focus to use the servitor power (summon monster I for 1 min). Then move to provide flank.
PONY attacks top left skeleton
hoove 1: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14 I forgot to add flank, so please add another +2.
damage, smite evil: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
hoove 2: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (18) - 3 = 15 I forgot to add flank, so please add another +2.
damage, smite evil: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
I summoned the pony as it has the highest HP primarily to soak up damage and provide flank. I'm new to this so not sure if it's the best strategy but let's give it a try.
If by any chance, the pony takes out the skeleton, it will shift to the to the southwest, but without flank
DM Amazing Red |
With Tchak's aid, the pony is able to take out two skeletons! The remaining skeletons attack the newly summoned meat.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Party is up!
Victor Mordenheim |
Victor winces as he sees the way the remaining skeletons rip apart the pony, but nevertheless steps up, and takes a swing at one of the skeletons, hoping to crush its skull.
Battle Aspergillum: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 1 = 20, for 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 damage.
Moving *around* so that I don't provoke ;-)
Fyssaryx Rageskar |
Fyssaryx sees the undead and switches to her greatclub before closing with the undead...
Greatclub+PA: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9…DMG: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
"WEI! STAY BEHIND ME!" she yells out...
Bambang Kuwatputra |
Poor pony dead... Oh well, you did your job as a meat soak well. If those had ripped into us, ouch!
Bambang thanked the spirit beast for its assistance, and unexpectedly taking out 2 of the skeletons. Not hesitating though, Bambang moves up beside Fyssaryx from behind her, getting ready to move subsequently into flanking with her.
Remembering the skeletons vulnerability to bludgeoning attacks, Bambang drops his axe and gripping his shield with two hands, smashes it at the skeleton.
Sigh, he really should have picked up a club before starting.
shield, two-handed: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Wei Tchak |
Wei stays back for now, not having a bludgeoning weapon AND being down 6 strength... not a good combination against skellies. "I hate being on the sidelines, but thank you for dealing with these undead while I am a bit under the weather."
Wei Tchak |
"If we don't run into any more of those creatures, I'm willing to go on, just won't be quite as effective as I'd like to be."
DM Amazing Red |
Alright. Moving on then.
At the bottom of the stairs is a circular chamber with three passageways leading from it. In the center is a small stone pedestal. The sound of dripping water can be heard coming from the eastern passageway, while the stench of rot emanates from the west. The floor bears an inscription spiraling out from the pillar and written in Common. It reads: “To the south you might take your ease, to rest and reflect on Kassen’s deeds. To the east lies the wheel, to open the gate. To the west is the resting place of Kassen, hero of the Fangwood.”
Which way?
DM Amazing Red |
Investigating the eastern passage Victor finds that it slopes down a bit after leaving the chamber and that water has collected in the corridor. He notices that the dripping sound can be attributed to the leaking ceiling. He also hears a strange echoing gurgle coming from further east. 14 or 15?
Bambang Kuwatputra |
Sorry I came in late but if we rest one night, that would bring Tchak's strength damage to 5, so it would just be a -2 instead of -3. Bambang's got 2 strength damage right now as well. Can I propose we head south, i.e. room 17, then rest a bit to at least reduce the penalties?
"The team is not doing so well right now. Perhaps it might be good to see what the area that promises rest might be. I think this place was largely set up by the villagers, so I believe we can trust that sign."
Fyssaryx Rageskar |
"Let us not be too foolhardy. We have weakened members here. Scout out a bit forward to see which is the less dangerous room.I can stay just behind you if you run into trouble."
Victor Mordenheim |
"Okay, but remember, we only have enough torches for a few hours... so we will be resting in the dark. I am also worried that whatever took the villagers might come after us if we tarry too long..."
Happy to be convinced otherwise, but I figure that rogues should have a decent dose of paranoia ;-)
Bambang Kuwatputra |
During the rest, Bambang spends some meditating to re-attune himself to his implements - the fertility goddess pendant, and his battleaxe. Upon waking, he uses one charge of the wand to restore himself.
Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Status -1 strength
I would still like to head to room 17, south. Hoping that we might find more supplies or help that the villagers left in the room.
DM, I'm not very clear on the rules on this. I note that clubs are free. Does that mean I can just pick up some club-like object from the surroundings, e.g. thigh bone of a skeleton, as a club? Or would it be an improvised weapon?
Wei Tchak |
Wei arises from his rest... feeling only slightly better still down 5 str. He readies his spells for the day and prepares to move on.
Fyssaryx Rageskar |
If the group is resting Fyssaryx will do her due diligence to pull watch while the others recover as she has no spells right now and no loss of strength.
DM Amazing Red |

Within reason of course. So you could have picked up a club in the forest or like you said use a skeleton bone, same can be said for quarterstaves as well. Room 17 it is.
The short passageway takes a bend before ending in a small chamber dominated on the far side by a silver fountain quietly burbling perfectly clear water. An inscription above the fountain reads "Kassen's legacy lives on with his people. Drink and be refreshed."
Wei Tchak |
Wei squints one eye, cautious and curious... then shrugs, walks in and takes a drink from the fountain.
Wei Tchak |
"The words were right... I do feel stronger... but I'm afraid to take another drink much as I might need it... sometimes these things only work once... and I've heard sometimes a second drink can reverse the effects of the first one or worse... like curses or something."
Bambang Kuwatputra |
"You're right. Even though I am still partially weak from the attack yesterday, I would hesitate to use the healing powers of this fountain for now. If everyone is fine, let's proceed."
Suggest continue where Victor was suggesting. Prob room 14. With his usual perception checks, I hope. :)
DM Amazing Red |
This room is filled with water, probably as deep as the outside corridor. The chamber is in an advanced state of decay, with a gaping hole in the ceiling admitting a constant trickle of water. The three stone sarcophagi in this room are almost completely covered in moss and fungi. This entire room is difficult terrain and all acrobatics DCs are higher than normal.
There is a trio of giant frogs in this room and they croak loudly declaring their intent!

Victor Mordenheim |
"Those... are some awfully big frogs!"
Victor wades into the room, climbs up onto the sacrophagus to at least have a dry footing, and attempts to clobber the closest frog (Yellow)!
Climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6.
Battle Aspergillum: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, for 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 1 + (4) = 6 damage.
Wei Tchak |
Tchak moves into the room and draws his sword...
Bambang Kuwatputra |
Bambang attempts to move towards the frogs, but is hampered the water. He stops pushing forward and instead, summons an eagle from his pendant to hold on the giant beasts for a while.
Standard action spend 1 conjuration mental focus to use the servitor power (summon monster I for 1 min).

Victor moves up and strikes a frog. Bambang summons an eagle to do battle with the enemy animals and is able to strike once. Fyss moves up and misses with her strike. Red lashes out with its tongue at Victor.

Blue bites at the eagle.

The eagle also continues its attack!
The eagle will attack the red first. If it goes down, either due to Bambang or one of its attacks, it would shift the rest to blue.

Bambang cuts down the red frog while the two birds deal some damage to the blue frog.
AOO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Fyss fails to tumble past the yellow frog but the frog also fails to hit the Aasimar before it falls. Victor then moves up to the blue frog and ends its existence as well. Combat over!
