A Mission of Mercy

Game Master greg white 722

To add to the ravages of a brutal civil war The Schaler Trivarium must also now suffer a terrible plague. You have accepted a mission to deliver a vital supply of much needed serum to the system. Delivery of the serum and other much needed medical supplies to an awaiting hospital ship, it should be an easy mission.

Georg: I'll go see if I can find Boone, to take a look at those sensors.

Dr. Feldspar, you're watching as Boone expertly begins removing the explosives, when you see that someone is leaving the bridge, coming towards the hold.

Boone, you're about ten minutes into the job (the 2nd. roll).

you just had too...didn't you!1 lol

Thinking quickly, the doctor moves to intercept whomever is coming before they get to the hold.

Well, where would the suspense be in you simply pulling the explosives off?

Feldspar, Boone, make a test, using any modifiers you have for Dexterity.

Dex test: 2d6 - 1 ⇒ (6, 3) - 1 = 8

Feldspar: You rush into the hold doorway, almost knocking down a surprised Georg.

Georg: You've seen Boone? Fineline needs him on the bridge.

"Uh... no. No, haven't seen him. Have you tried the crew cabins? Or maybe engineering?"

Persuade test: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 5) + 1 = 12

Dex test: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

Problem is that to get to either engineering or the state-rooms, Georg is going to have pass through the hold.

Georg: All right, I'll check engineering

Boone, you managed to sidle between two of the pallets, so that you're not immediately visible. Unfortunately, you cannot really hide, as your arms are full of live explosives.

Bear in mind that this ship is more on the scale of the 'Serenity' than the 'Enterprise', sending Georg on a snipe hunt to Engineering is probably only going distract him for about five minutes.

Georg shuffles past Dr. Feldspar.

Botting Dr. Feldspar, as she attempts to stall.

Dr. Feldspar: How is that shoulder? Is there still pain?

Feldspar grimly stares at the com console; he can feel, like a steady drum-beat of pressure, the flashing warning on the sensor board, which he is steadfastly ignoring.

Correction: Fineline grimly stares at the com console....

Boone: you want to suggest a stalling tactic for Dr.Feldspar, as she tries to keep Georg out of the hold?

Kiss him!!! lol

Male Human Pilot

Anson again tries to interpret the warning on the sensor board, attempting to figure out what it's trying to tell him.

Fineline: I'm going to assume that you've been going through the help-files this whole time, or even the dead tree manual! Make a sensors check -2.

Boone: So, shall Dr. Feldspar try to use her feminine wiles to distract Georg?

Male Human Pilot

Sensors: 2d6 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 1 - 2 = 8 +1 from Education

Well I think it might distract him enough for Eli to finish defusing the bombs..and maybe allow us to take him prisoner too.

Fair enough.

"Georg, you know, I never noticed how handsome you are..."

Georg: Uhhh. Ok...Is this really the right time?

Fineline, you're not completely sure, but you think that the alert is for the detection of active sensor scans, that is, the Luis Wu is being "painted."

Male Human Pilot

Anson almost mentions to Georg what he thinks is wrong before remembering that he went to fetch Boone.

Are there any visuals for outside, specifically any way to look at the ship itself to see what's sticking to us?

There are external cameras.

Male Human Pilot

Anson attempts to bring the external cameras up so he can view them.

You are in the midst of a grassy plain. There are some mountains to the north-west.

There seems to be a thread of smoke rising from the horizon to the north.

Georg peers intently at Dr. Feldspar.

What exactly is going on here? Where's Boone?

"I...uh...haven't seen him. I think he went to engineering, or maybe sick bay. Besides, why are you worried about him, when you have me? Unless you prefer the company of men..."

Male Human Pilot

Anson can't see what seems to be targeting them, but puts himself on the comms to address the entire ship.

Anson (comms): I'm seeing smoke from the north and we're being painted. Thaya or Georg, can one of you communicate with your group so we know what's happening? This doesn't look good.

Do we know what direction the pirates went? And I think their ship should be somewhere nearby, do we know where it is exactly?

Georg, completely flustered: No--I--Uhh, maybe I should see what the captain wants?

Thaya: Should I come to the bridge?

Male Human Pilot

Anson (to Thaya): I'd appreciate it. The situation looks dangerous, for both groups.

Thaya: I'll be right down.

Georg: Uh, later perhaps...

Georg makes a stumbling retreat to the bridge.

I'm assuming that Dr. Feldspar doesn't try to keep him there.

Boone, make a test, using your best ability modifier.

None of my abilities have modifiers..all are 8 or lower.

Boone, so make a test, no modifier.

ok..sorry, was not sure if maybe one of my skills might take the place of the attribute.

Attribute Roll: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3

sorry for blowing us all up......

So, Boone, you have removed the explosives from the cargo pallets of vital serum. You haven't disarmed the explosives, but as they are small charges, just taking them off the pallets will go a great way towards ensuring the safety of your precious cargo.

Unfortunately, as you are standing in the middle of the cargo hold, wondering how to get rid of an arm-load of bomb-lets, Thaya steps into the hold.

Dr. Aurora Feldspar F34 (34) SI MD 343B82-A(U)

I am assuming that she comes in from the other end of the hold, so that she can see both Boone and Aurora?

Feldspar: You turn around from shooing off Georg, only to see Thaya descending the hold ladder. You can follow Georg, and duck through the door going forward; but it is likely that you've already been spotted.

"Umm..funny story this...", Boone says as he hurriedly sets aside the bomb-lets and readies to attack Thaya.

As you can't safely drop the bomb-net, Thaya is able to draw her gun before you can lay the "bomb-net" on the hold's floor.

Thaya (shouting): Georg! Get your ass in here !

Boone: You still going to go for you gun?

Feldspar: ?

Well not if she has the drop on me....can I make a roll to see if I think throwing the bombs at her will cause them to explode?

That they'll explode upon being thrown, does seem certain. However throwing the dam thing with any accuracy is probably not very likely.

Hmmm. It's also the case that if she shoots you, the bombs will probably detonate: it would of course be very, very bad for you, but the threat to the cargo would be gone.

Georg is making his way back from the bridge, in response to Thaya's shouted request.

Dr. Feldspar?

Captain Fineline, there seems to be some excitement going on in the hold.

"Alright lady. Shoot me and we both go up. Now BACK UP!"

Male Human Pilot

Anson is oblivious to what's going on.

Anson: Is there something happening? There's smoke to the north and we're being painted. I'd appreciate it if we can contact your group. I have a bad feeling.

Dr. Aurora Feldspar F34 (34) SI MD 343B82-A(U)

If it seems that Thaya can see her, Aurora raises her hands slowly and keep them in plain view. If it seems that Thaya has not seen her or is not watching her, Aurora tries to creep up behind her, only to stumble and catch herself on Thaya's shoulders.

Stealth: 2d6 - 5 ⇒ (5, 2) - 5 = 2

Feldspar, you trip on a cargo strap that Boone had undone to remove the bombs, and fall heavily to the floor, your gun sliding across the floor between Thaya and Boone.

Matter of fact, you take 2 points of damage from your face plant into the unyielding deck.

Fineline, you're nervously studying the external CCTV monitors, when, in the sky to the north you see the flitting movement of what looks to you like a helicopter.

Male Human Pilot

Anson, not know what's going on and that nobody seems to be coming to help him, at least keeps the ship updated.

Anson: Unidentified flying object to the north. I think it's a helicopter.

What is Thays'a response to Boone's demand she back up?
