It is possible to share some of my senses, if you desire to experience more. Io offers as they follow the tracks.

It can be... Intense... If you are unprepared for the experience.

Veilwar silently grimaces as Szo Cuta begins to rant, "Tell that uppity fox it is Szo Cuta. If I wanted a shorter name I would change it. Secondly why would any family of mine want to be a tool of that uptight stag!?..."

Turning to Alice he says in a pained voice, "She says it is possible. And why do you continue to torture me so?" Veilwar finishes with a half-grin, knowing his protest will fall on deaf ears again.

"Because it's good for her. If she doesn't get some exercise on the boring days yelling at you, why, I worry she'll fade away. Not every day is combat. This way she has an excuse to roust herself to conversation, and you have someone to grouse at about it. Plus it's adorable when you apologize to her. Face it veil, you're half in love with Szo Cuta, and she's oblivious. The least I can do is tease you for it. Romantic comedies are more entertaining than that moody drama you and she were drifting towards."

Alice grins in the blade's direction.

"He's completely devoted to you, lady blade. I meant no offense. You are of course as lovely as you are deadly."

Female Tiefling (Hungerspawn) Psychic (Self-Perfection)

I'd like to try that. Kawa said. Some other time, though, when we're not in a situation depended on our focus. She pulled herself to a standing position. What do you think, Io, do we continue down this line or report back to camp?

Reporting back now would be the prudent decision. Then, we can search further if that is the group's chosen course of action. The gatekeeper replies.

I thought everyone was already split into the two groups and that those searching the trail were heading back to the campsite near the wagon.

Female Tiefling (Hungerspawn) Psychic (Self-Perfection)

Alrighty, then. I could use a good rest, actually. She stretched out on of her arms and rolled her shoulder. Lead the way.

Ok so we are planning on splitting the party? List who is going to track the trail and who is staying at camp for the night. Or are you waiting for morning to go track the trail?

I think we wait till morning if the trail is already cold. If it's obviously just happened, then pushing tonight has some value, but if it's already been hours and the wolf was just being opportunistic there's no telling how long tracking would take, we'd have to sleep eventually.

Best wait til morning, don't want to get lost or ambushed in the woods at night do you...

I agree that we would probably wait till morning when everyone has had a chance to rest along with the horses.

Once back at camp and before we settle down to sleep, Gatekeeper Io will use Mindlink to share 10 Minutes of what his sensory experiences are like with Kawa, since she asked about it before. It's an instant transmission, and so she experiences the 10 minutes immediately and can recall them as if she experienced them herself.

Alright, makes sound sense

The night passes without incident, all your watches pass without much more than the normal sounds one would expect this far from an established city.

As the last watch is sleeping and the first watch is waking up you see that it looks to be a very clear day, not a single cloud in the sky overhead and that sun feels like it is gonna be a warm day.

Roll me a perception, but only the two of you that wake first

If you beat DC 18 read the spoiler, if not please don't:
As you look to the directions the tracks had gone last night you notice something in the woods. Its small and it takes you a moment to realize that it looks like smoke is rising above the trees, it takes you a moment to be sure as perhaps it could be mist crosses your mind but only briefly.

I'm confused why the last watch would be heading to sleep, they should be staying awake, they should have already gotten their sleep before their watch started.

Yeah I had a brain fart, for some reason I thought they wouldn't have slept. But you make a perfectly rational point. I think what the last shift would be doing is preparing spells and the like be cause they wouldn't have had time on watch unless they where very assured of their safety
Also Eva, if your bonus meets the DC, you don't need to roll. Your roll was very good though.

Is that smoke out there? She asked, pointing.

Alright, so I replaced Frosh with a new player Tildea, figured they might be fun.

A small smokey colored cat approached the duo of wagons. The small cat was barely 8" tall at the shoulder, with his head lifted he neared a foot in height. He meowed softly as he approached Kawa sniffing the air and his tail swishing swirling behind him as he was by now only a few feet from Kawa. The cat looked slim as if it had not eaten to much in the past days. It meowed again looking up at the young Tiefling.

You have a polymorphic pouch and I was trying to give you an easy hook to join the scene. If you'd rather, we can just dash off and ignore the feral kitten. (If you really want a rules reason, we can say alice has every know at +8 or better and you're CR 5 so identifying you is dc 15, she took 10.)

No offense meant Alice I was just curious as your post didn't say so I didnt know.

Alright, no fighting. Now technically he didn't say he had the pouch with him in his post. And also your Identify check would only show him as a Cat. It is a proper polymorph effect.

Veilwar stares at the cat, not knowing what to make of such a domestic creature so deep in wilds. After a moment he tosses some scraps from his trail rations to the cat then turns to watch Alice dash off. "Speaking of feral creatures, we really should get that girl a leash."

Shaking his head Veilwar follows Alice, wondering if anyone prepared Create Water water for the day.

No change on spells prepared for Veilwar.

Tildea's thoughts where in feline but came across as 'hungry' which ceased when Veilwar dropped off food from his rations kit to the Cat who rushed over to get a few bites to eat. The cat looked up as the man who had fed him took off after the women who had left.

The cat looked back to Io and Kawa before finishing off the scraps from the trail ration.

Not offended, or trying to offend, just giving an excuse to keep the scene moving. There's any number of reasons a pack of level 5 adventurers would recognize a tibbit, much less one with equipment and out of the normal housecat habitat. Pick your favorite.

"You'd have to catch me first, and this isn't really the time to discuss the strange thoughts Szo Cuta has about proper care and feeding of her pet dervish. Here's hoping we can get a better view of this fire soon, we don't want to get cut off from the wagons."

More importantly, here's hoping it's just a normal fire. Nothing about this venture seems normal so far.

Female Tiefling (Hungerspawn) Psychic (Self-Perfection)

Aw, a kitty. Kawa said, kneeling down to pet the cat behind the ears. Aww, he's so cute. Can I keep him? I'm going to need to think of a name for him.

Perhaps it already has a name? Gatekeeper Io says to Kawa. It doesn't feel threatened by us, so it must be used to people... of some sort, all things considered.

The gatekeeper focuses on the 'cat'. What is your name, little one? he directly asks it.

For our new player, I do not have a mouth, nor do I eyes (or any other orifices since I seem to be a naked man made out of darkness and glimmering stars). I speak with others telepathically.

"That could be someone's pet cat that got lost."

Yes my fly speed is 40.
I life link with Alice as I prepare to fly off to investigate the smoke. Looking over at the cat, Make sure that poor kitty gets some food, looks as if it has eaten for days.
Coyote then begins flying in the direction of the smoke, I'm with you Alice, I just hope this smoke has a simple explanation.

She's just excitable, we will be alright. Though those two could do to remember "short legs!" Veilwar replies telepathically as he breaks into full sprint to catch up.

Tildea let Kawa pet his head and he curled into the pleasant feeling. Tildea looked to Io turning his head and echoed a thought, the sound of another with the word 'Tildea' in his mind. Impossible to know it was the voice of Tildea's mother calling his name from his past.

Just to the cat, Io thinks Hello, Tildea. I know you're capable of reason, as you have understood my request. Are you looking for companionship and food for a day, or maybe you want something greater?

Alice grins at coyote, then looks back to be sure that veil and eva are keeping up.

"We should slow down a bit and let them get over that trunk. Oh but the breeze is lovely. I'll have to walk all day tomorrow to keep the habit, but today I think I shall enjoy the excuse and thank the salamander or whatever it is that set the fire."

Coyote grins back at Alice, I can't stand walking, I much rather spend all my time flying.
Looking back towards Veil and Eva, and then back towards Alice. Yes, maybe we should slow down a little for them to catch up. I would really hate to be stuck in front, if there is a serious problem with the fire.

Will post tonight, school than work takes it out of ya.

As they race toward the smoke, pretty soon the smell of it fills their nostrils and they cannot avoid finding the trail as it wafts through the forest. They could follow the trail if they liked it looked like it headed further into the thick of the forest out of sight of the wagon and the road.

Those who fell behind, roll me a perception please.
