Kiddir

If Kiddir can help Sir William using his greatsword, he will do it for sure. If not, he'll try to stand next to him with the same sword at the ready. You never know what might happen.
M'boka
|
M'boka crawls through the pipe, the incantation for a spell on the tip of his tongue in case one is needed. As he and the others emerge from the pipe, however, he sees there is no immediate threat. I wonder what those men were so afraid of. Must have been their own shadows.
He pulls his terbutje back out, ready to face any unexpected threats. He pauses for a moment to look around and listen for anything suspicious or dangerous.

Once everyone is through and ready to explore further, Nona keeps her light mostly cloaked and sends Katzu forward to scout as far as the next intersection.
What do the instructions we received tell us about where to go next?
| Katzu Eidolon |
Katzu moves deliberately, gazing at the path, the water, and the walls and ceiling for threats, hazards, and traps.
This will be his SOP whenever scouting ahead unless time is limited and speed matters more than caution.

The eidolon says nothing for a moment, as if not expecting to be addressed. He checks for danger again before responding in a deep bass voice. "I am agathion. It is my sole duty and deep honor to protect Nona-san. Our souls connect." He touches one index finger to the other as he says the last sentence. Then he resumes his vigil for threats.

The right-hand turn leads to a closed iron grate that blocks further progress. It shows little sign of being disturbed recently. The left-hand passage goes on for about 30 feet and then turns left again.
The only sounds you hear are your own along with the occasional drip hitting the channel.
Searlas detects neither magic nor traps.

Ser Willem follows along with the others in the lead, ready for what comes next. He nods at Rilia's exposition. "Yes, it is. I look forward to returning to proper civilization." Looking at their choices, he offers, "Left then? That gate looks sealed from here."
M'boka

Yes, left seems to be the correct direction. M'boka remains near the front, but allows those with more martial prowess to go ahead of him, hoping that he can provide some support for them if needed.

"I hope you are not only able to wrinkle your nose but also something useful, eared."
Kiddir snorts, finding it funny. (not surprising with the intelligence of 10...)

Fallen rubble from an earlier excavation clogs the channel, slowing the water flow and accumulating a mass of sewage on one side. A thick carpet of moss and fungus—clearly representing a wide variety of green, blue, and ochre-colored specimens—sprawls across the top of the debris and hangs from the ceiling, with several larger mounds of fungus clinging to the walls or stemming from the hole to the east. Wispy blue tendrils descend from the ceiling and almost touch the water, creating a thin, eerie curtain of plant matter.

Nona steals up to take a peak around the corner and then retreats again, leaving others to fill the front ranks with her eidolon.
When Searlas identifies it as a leshy, Nona says, "Talking to plants. That's a new one to me. I don't know much about that kind of stuff. If you've got a question about how this place was constructed, I'd have an opinion. Plants and animals are a mystery to me. You guys can do the talking."
She remains 20 feet behind Katzu, apparently getting telepathic reports from her eidolon, because she nods now and then.

The 'leshy'? What is this? How dangerous is it? However, what's the difference... I'm ready.

You travel past the garden and following Sascha's instructions proceed about 650 down the gently sloping path, following the water flow. Eventually you arrive at another intersection where a natural cleft in the rocky soil breaches the sewer wall and rises gently to the north. Heaps of stranded organic material and garbage litter the opening, from which emanates a pungent stink even stronger than the complex’s already unpleasant odor. You directions instruct you to proceed to the right.
We are now on the second map.

Ser Willem follows along with his companions, his hand ever resting on the pommel of his sword. For all the things he'd seen as a Pathfinder, there were still times when things surprised him and this was one of them. This under sewer garden, tended to by a mushroom headed creature. This wasn't his forte, so he let the others take the lead with their obvious knowledge of the environs, content that he would be ready when combat erupted.
As they arrive at the intersection, he remarks, "Looks like the lair of something worse than that garbage eater we fought earlier. We should keep moving." He then continues to move towards the right.
M'boka
|
M'boka looks on quizzically as Searlas carries on his conversation with the Leshy. He had never seen someone talk to a plant before. I suppose I will see many such strange things as a Pathfinder. I better get used to it now.
As he follows the others carefully past the Leshy's garden, M'boka watches the small plant creature with interest, and even gives it a small wave as he moves into the new area with the others. When they arrive at the new intersection, he carefully looks around at the rubble to see if he can spot anything suspicious.

as the group continues to the east, as directed, they spread out a bit. Kiddir goes ahead, trying to stay as silent as possible, thus putting a bit of distance between himself and the others. Katzu on the other hand lags behind, keeping an eye on the smelly cavern.

Katzu attempts to jump across the channel.
Acrobatics, standing jump: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
I'm thinking since the gap across which he jumps is 5 feet, the DC for a standing jump is 10 or double the gap. Or is it the distance you travel, which means he jumps 10 feet to land in the square across the channel, necessitating a result of 20?
Assuming he made the jump, Katzu steps up but says, "Will this thing burn me with acid if I hit it?"
Nona Petran
|
As Katzu approaches the ooze, Nona readies a javelin to throw at a jinkin if either approaches within 30 feet.

Michael Hallet

The result of the jump check is the number of feet you clear while in the air. The distance from one edge of the channel to the other is 5 feet, so you just need to make a DC 5 running jump (or DC 10 standing jump). You don't need to measure your jumps in increments of 5 feet even though that is how tactical movement is calculated. So if the channel were 6 feet wide, the DC would be 6. All I can about this though is expect table variation some GMs will say the difficulty to jump a 5 foot gap is 5, some will say 6 and some will say 10, but I feel strongly that my interpretation is correct and that is how I run it as a GM.

There was an incredibly entertaining twenty-something odd page thread dedicated to 'what is the DC to jump over a 5 ft pit' question. It even got it's own FAQ entry, which says exactly what you just said. I will admit to spending more time than I should have reading that thread and laughing.
Searlas Savy

Jumping: If I want to jump over a 10-foot pit, is the DC 10, like the table says, or is it higher, since I need to move a total of 15 feet to reach a non-pit square?
The DC is still 10 to jump over a 10-foot pit. You do move a total of 15 feet when you make that jump, but some of that is not required to be part of the jump. One way to visualize it is to think of it as walking/running the 2–1/2 feet from the center of your original square to the edge of the pit, jumping the pit right to the other edge, and then walking the 2–1/2 feet to the center of the new square.
