How can I fully Utilize Tentacles (Kraken Caller)

Advice

One of my favorite sea creatures next to a shark is an octopus. When I read the Kraken Caller Archetype I was hooked. A were-sharktapus.

Skinwalker shark with the ocean subdomain and kraken caller archetype.

But Ive ran into this issue and thats how to fully utilize the extra arm/tentacles. I cant really Multiattack and they are second natural weapons so i cant buff them with feats.

What feats should i be looking at and how should i be using the tentacles.

Why can't you multiattack? You don't need three different natural attacks.

Why can't you take Multiattack? Is this for PFS?

Normally, a Secondary Natural Attack is a Primary Natural Attack if it's your only Natural Attack. Tail Slaps are Secondary Natural Attacks, but the Tail Slap of a Stegosaurus is a Primary Natural Attack.

Well as a were shark ill gain a bite. But isnt Multiattack an ability only animal companions get.

Nope, it's a feat too! It's a Monster feat though, granted.

oh okay so if i take that feat. How can i utilize striking with the tentacles?

Im no monk or a brawler

How can i strike huge. I did read into your dirty fighting builds but the problem with that is ive never tried the dirty fighting in pfs so i dont know how to do it.

With the exception of Alchemist Tentacles, when you get an extra Natural Weapon, you get the extra attack, too.

So you have a character with a Long Sword, you get your Long Sword Attack, like normal.

If you have a Tengu, you have a Bite Attack in addition to the Sword Attack.

If you take the Tengu Claws Trait, you also get 2 Claws, so your Full Attack will be

Sword,
Bite, and
2 Claws

for 4 attacks altogether.

If you take a level in Warpriest, and take Weapon Focus for all the Natural Attacks you intend to get, your base damage for Size Medium will be 1d6. By level 8, you will be able to turn into Huge Animals, so your Natural Attacks will do 2d6 Each. Cast Strong Jaw on yourself, and your attacks will go up by 2 sizes, so 4d6.

Kraken Callers have that thing where they can grow 1 big tentacle instead of a bunch of little ones. If you want to do that, you might want to take Great Cleave or something.

I have other ideas, if you want.

That sounds amazing.

But how many levels would i need to dip into Warpriest to make this work.

Im basing this characters background on how Illoai from league approaches things by some of her quotes although this character isnt illoai "the kraken priestess." Although thematically warpriest does work.

The campaign is a level 10 epic campaign so i was just going 10 druid but if warpriest is a thing is it 1wp/9d or like 5/5?

1.

The base damage for Sacred Weapon for a Size Medium Warpriest is 1d6. The rest of the damage increase I'm talking about is due to real and virtual size increase through Wild Shape and the Strong Jaw Spell.

Sacred Weapon Damage applies upon your deity's favorite weapon(s) or any weapon you take Weapon Focus for. If your character is a Human, you might take the Martial Versatility Feat, which would allow you to apply Weapon Focus, and therefore Sacred Weapon Damage to every Weapon in the same Weapon Group as the first one you chose Weapon Focus for. Otherwise, you need to take Weapon Focus for every Natural Attack you intend to use, although it seems you only want 2: Tentacles and Bite.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Not quite; you have to carry the sword in one hand at least, so one claws is lost.

Oops. Maybe if the sword is being carried in your Vestigial Arm...

I do have a worry about the Sharktopus Form itself being illegal.

The kraken caller can alternatively expend a daily use of wild shape to grow tentacles out of her body while otherwise retaining her own form.

This looks to me like it means that you can only grow tentacles out of your "own form," that is your original, human form (or Elf, Dwarf, Ifrit, Thri-Kreen, or whatever).

I'm not sure it's illegal, and if it is, I'm not sure it would wreck the effectiveness of your character.

But I feel compelled to raise this concern.
