Drones Are Too Confusing

First of all, why is there a mod for profiecisncy feats? Drones can already use almost any weaoon provided the have enough weapon mounts. They don't need Small Arm Proficiency. Secondly, are they allowed to use grenade in any circumstance? Do they get resolve points? There's space for that in the Drone Sheet from the character folio. Additionallly, would using the arm mod to physically let go of a grenade count as an attack? If they just dropped it and say had their mechanic waiting with a detonator? And can you control it without seeing it? The way I read it basically means up to 2500 ft. you can control it, regardless of where it is and where you are?

Thanks

- A drone starts with either basic melee or small arms proficiency. Getting the small arms proficiency feat would be necessary if you started a drone with basic melee and want it to also use a small arms weapon.

- Drones can't get the grenade proficiency feat, so it can attack with grenades but suffer the -4 attack roll/save dc penalty.

- If you give your drone a grenade connected to a detonator, you can order your drone to drop or throw the grenade. The drone shouldn't attack with the grenade since that would involve pulling the pin, causing it to explode before you can trigger the detonator.

- Drones get resolve points (= drone level / 2) starting at level 10.

- If you have your custom rig, you can communicate with your drone via it so long as it's in range (2500 ft. at level 1) and the connection isn't disrupted in some way. Without your rig, the drone must be able to see or hear you.

Drones are not proficient with all weapons automatically. They begin with either small arms or basic weapons (page 74). So the proficiency mods are there if you wanted your drone to use a heavy weapon you could add that proficiency to them.

I see no mention of drone being able to use a grenade. A GM could allow a drone to use one but it would not be proficient and have the usually penalty.

No, it looks like resolve points are for PCs only. The character folio could be a mistake but I don't have the character folio to look at right now.

I don't see anything in the rules that would allow this but a GM could allow it in their game.

On page 76, "Your drone must be able to see or hear you, or be within range of your custom rig, for you to directly control your drone." As you stated, the range of the custom rig is 2,500 feet. Also, a camera is a basic mod and that allows the mechanic to see what the drone sees.

Welcome!

Thanks guys!

Drones get their own pool of resolve points at level 10. Look at the "Upgraded Power Core" feature.
