The countdown to Legendary Planet continues!
Kickstarters that produce amazing products are GREAT!
Waiting for those Kickstarters to produce what they promise is not!
That's why we've designed this Kickstarter a little different than most. Barring any unforeseen obstacles, it is our plan start getting your adventures to you IMMEDIATELY once the Kickstarter funds! The PDFs will be available for you to download from us, and if you have backed for softcover copies of The Assimilation Strain and To Worlds Unknown, you can pick up the print version at our GenCon booth #2639; if you won't be at the con, we can ship them to you during GenCon week or immediately after the con.
The print copies at our booth are a convention special and the print and PDF versions will not be available anywhere else except to backers (though we usually allow a week or two after the Kickstarter where we still take new backers to sign on). The booth copies, of course, will need to be printed in advance, so the special GenCon edition will not have backer names listed. However, they will be added to the source PDFs after the convention, and all subsequent PDF and print editions after GenCon will have backer names added.
After the initial fulfillment of the first adventure and the prelude, we will be releasing an additional adventure every 1-2 months until the saga is complete, in PDF for all backers and with discounted print-on-demand softcovers for backers that want to purchase them. Once the entire series is complete, we will prepare our massive compilation of the entire Legendary Planet project in PDF and in hardback form!
Oh, one more thing: TWO!

tbug wrote:Will there be Hero Lab support?Yes, in terms of stat blocks for monsters and characters.
Whether there is Hero Lab support beyond that will depend on how LoneWolf chooses to proceed with supporting adventures in general and 3PP adventures in particular.
tbug wrote:Which discussion forum are we going to use? Most six-chapter adventure paths need an entire board to themselves. If we don't get a dedicated board on paizo.com have you considered asking for one on another site?We can ask, though generally that's something Paizo only does for their own APs. I haven't seen them do that for 3PP series like Way of the Wicked, Zeitgeist, etc.
Presumably we'd host the Pathfinder discussion here at Paizo.com, and we could certainly host the 5th Ed discussion here as well. We could also use another board like rpg.net or ENworld, though I'm not a big fan of their interface.
Basically from what I've seen all 3PP Herolab support has essentially been done by community volunteers like RavenX and ShadowChemosh, volunteering their own time. LoneWolf isn't going to be devoting resources to a niche effort like this.

I am watching this on Facebook. I will have to look at the price points for the levels an see what I can but I have to start spamming the Queen theme song to Flash Gordon soon...
We have designed it so you can start low and build up as it grows, or you can dive in for the whole package at once.
And spamming the Flash Gordon soundtrack is ALWAYS a good idea!

Is there an update on when the Kickstarter goes live?
June 15th. The 'countdown' on the LG website is counting down the number of days until it starts.
For the campaign setting/meta-setting, how are you handling gods? Since it is meant to be useable around any campaign world, are you just going to assume people will use the pantheon from their usual campaign setting (a la Planescape)? Are you going to introduce your own pantheon, but make it relatively easy to swap them out for the GM's pantheon of choice?

Yes. Pantheons from their usual campaign setting will still be available. And, we'll also be introducing our own pantheon, too. The latter will have an even higher degree of interplanetary influence, whereas gods from some of the pre-existing campaign settings may only be focused on one world...though, we'll include advice on how to expand the interests of pre-existing deities across our newer worlds, too.
In other words, wherever possible, I'm working to provide maximum flexibility so the Legendary Planet Adventure Path and the overarching Legendary Worlds Campaign Setting can seamlessly fit with anything else that's out there. That way, you can easily expand your existing campaign setting to link up with ours. Or, if you want to totally start out directly in our campaign setting with no hooks to a different one, you can do that, too. There'll be material to support you either way.

Sweet! I was expecting the first one, but since my campaign universe has infinite gods, what you're doing is even better for me.
Are you planning on making the gods open gaming content (a la Purple Duck Games) or are you keeping them closed (a la Rite, Alluria, Kobold Press, WotC, Paizo, and really almost every game company)?I'm assuming the latter, given that that seems to be the industry norm.

PathlessBeth |
Most likely the latter. We're establishing our own ongoing intellectual property with this project. So, we'll be seeking to safeguard it rather than making all of it open content.
Okay, that is what I expected.
One other question I asked earlier:
To those in the know: is there going to be a free player's guide the way Paizo does with their adventure paths?

Ooh, does that mean I got the second Legendary Planeteer?
I wish I could justify the cost of hardcopy to myself, but I really do have to get myself a new computer some day soon, and blowing my savings on RP stuff isn't helping.

Part of me suspects they're going to have a tier for creating iconic characters, allowing interested backers to have a hand in it. XD Either way, we'll start finding out soon enough!
Looks like you're right, but I'm not sure how to go about doing it (or whether it's worth the $150 to me - although I really am pretty tempted).

Ker-pledge! at $140 Pathfinder.
...How would I go about adding a set of 5th Ed PDFs for a friend who vastly prefers that over PF? Do the $15 add-ons?
Also, remind me: will this be a mythic AP?
It's $56,000 to completion, we got a full bag of dice, half a pack of bestiaries, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

Dang it! I knew I forgot something. The double-dip pledge level for people who want both.
I can add those later on, which begs the question: Would it be better to:
1. Have a separate pledge level for both PF and 5E?
2. Add it to our bonus pledges as a separate line item there?
Thoughts?
Also, remind me: will this be a mythic AP?
Yes, though the mythic-ness of it will be more heavily on the GM side than on the player side. We have some interesting ideas on implementing mythic in a campaign, which we'll be talking about more as the campaign goes along.
For people who aren't mythic fans, they'll be able to play the AP with the mythic dialed down. For those that love mythic, there will be an ample supply of mythic toys.

Rednal |

I think it would be best to have a pledge level for both editions.
Speaking of mythic, I loved seeing the 'Mythic Class Abilities' in the Hero's Handbook - and I'm rather hoping that at least a few NPCs are built entirely that way, focusing on mythic class abilities instead of the usual path options.

Backer #43 with $400 in (only reason I didn't go to $500 is I won't be able to afford the flight to the US next year).
I've been waiting for an AP like this for quite a while. Can't decide if I want to GM or play it. Hope it blasts through all possible stretch goals as this one needs to be as extensive and epic as possible. :)

It will be...
Wait for it...

...
Wait...
...
Legendary.
(Okay, my punception just went off the charts, and I want a new logo with a shelf on a cliff with a bucket of milk for Ledge and Dairy Games...)

Woo!
But you still missed my question:137ben wrote:One other question I asked earlier:
Legendary Mythic Maniac wrote:To those in the know: is there going to be a free player's guide the way Paizo does with their adventure paths?
The answer to that question is... mayyyybe.
Cmon, we laid out a BUNCH of stuff for you, but we have to keep at least a FEW secrets to reveal later, don't we? :)

You just had to pick the only afternoon when I work four hours at my part time retirement job, and then took my wife to dinner for her birthday. I had hoped to be backer number 1, but Ok backer 64 it is.
Now a question because I do not completely understand. At $140 backer (for Pathfinder), I get all the PDFs, a PDF compilation and a hardback. Check.
I also get all the Bonus stuff. So does that mean that as each of the Bonus goals are hit I get that PDF? ie we are at 9k now so I get the 6k and 8k pdfs?

Yes. We are now at over $11K, so your PDF of To Worlds Unknown will be approximately 96 pages. When we hit $12K, we add on the base version of The Scavenged Codex at 64 pages, then start kicking that one up with bonus material, etc.
