Here's what I got so far:

DC Result 5 10 15 20 25 30 35 40

3 Class Skill
1 Skill Rank
1 Competence (Ioun Stone[200 gp])
2 Human/Half-Elf with Prodigy, or Halfling with Ingratiating racial trait
2 Trait: Savant

other traits for perform:
2 Noble Savage — only when “dealing with people of higher standing”
2 Adopted (Goblin) and Rude Songs
2 Adopted (Gnome) and Collector
2 Stage Magic (must use an alchemical item for the performance, so not permanent)
[1] Voice of the Sibyl feat (I don’t know how to get a third feat slot)
[2] Tome of Epics [50] (perform oratory or vocal) [technically not a permanent bonus]

Silver Crusade 3/5

Just a heads-up. If you use a reroll on a Day Job, you cannot take 10 on that reroll. You must roll.

Shadow Lodge 4/5 **** Venture-Captain, Michigan—Mt. Pleasant

There's a boon that expands the Day Job Table. I forget what it's called, but it goes 2-3 more steps past 40

Silver Crusade 2/5 * Venture-Agent, Florida—Longwood

I'm only getting +24 on the alchemist.

Liberty's Edge 5/5

The Prosperity boon allows up to a DC 50 for 300 gold.

After receiving that along with winning a Gen Con auction for a unique Druman Caravan stock certificate allowing the bearer to invest day job results for an eventual 300% return, I really started honing my negotiation skills on behalf of the caravan and towards the end of my standard career, I was hitting the DC 50 diplomacy checks as a matter of course.

Most of that is going towards the money spent on the stock certificate. It wasn't the wisest of investments.

The Exchange

yeah tamec, +24 sorry.
Also it doesn't have to be an alchemist; with a 36 result, you can afford to take a 1-point hit to your bonus. Originally it was a witch with Cauldron hex, but that's not legal.

I wasn't really looking to have a super-high day job throughout the whole career of my char. This was to create a lvl1 character build that I can use slow progression on, then retrain everything at level 2 and make it rain GP!

Scarab Sages 3/5

Best day job I ever found for early levels was to play a Cha class, get a mask of stony demeanor and get a caravan (5pp). by level 2 you're taking 10 to get a 20 using bluff, before other cheap items and skill ranks. my sorcerer is at 30 and level 3.

Silver Crusade 2/5 * Venture-Agent, Florida—Longwood

I know but first thing that comes to mind with Craft Alchemy is an Alchemist. Also as a gnome you can get a +2 on any craft check with their Obsessive racial bonus, but you don't get a 20 Int until level 8.

Liberty's Edge 5/5 5/5 *** Venture-Lieutenant, Indiana—Martinsville

Alchemists do not get the circumstance bonus for crafting specific alchemical weapons and such for day jobs. (My Goblin (Halfling really, he just thinks he is a goblin) would get another +9 if that were the case) This was pointed out to me about a year ago, before the last Gen Con.

The Exchange

Yeah they do, what?
Why not?
Even if I can't, a 200 gp Ioun Stone gives a +1 comp bonus

Also I'm just looking at a level 1 build, as I just want a super-rich second-level retrain.

I'm now putting together a list for a Half-Elf with Profession (Sailor)

Grand Lodge 4/5

They don't because they don't get a flat bonus to Craft: Alchemy, they get a bonus to one specific subset of craft alchemy. In order for a bonus to apply to day job checks it has to either apply to all uses of a skill, or explicitly work on day job checks (like the Improved Day Job feat).

Grand Lodge 4/5

Street Performers getting 600 gp. Its like running a 1 - 2 scenario as a dayjob.

The Exchange

Improved Day Job just came to my attention, so increase the bonus of the two skills in the OP by one, as I will switch Prodigy for Improved Day Job.

Silver Crusade 4/5

If you have the Land Rush boons from Emerald Spire. You could raise that?

The Exchange

I don't want to spend boons on a character who is only serious about DJs for the first level.
I mean, these options are excellent for a person who does want to go all the way with DJs, so by all means keep posting for other people's benefit.

I'm not familiar with Land Rush, but it looks useful for any character, not just DJ chars

Also I've always thought that subset bonuses still applied to DJs, but you couldn't apply two bonuses that applied to a different subset.

Grand Lodge 1/5

You can have +21 Diplomacy at level 1 combined with Caravan for 5 pp to make it a day job. This is with no items or anything increasing it. It will only go up from there, due to the excellent item support for charisma based skills and diplomacy in particular.

Human Sorcerer (Arcane)
Follower of Sarenrae
5 20 Cha
1 Rank
3 Class Skill
3 Skill Focus
2 Persuasive
3 Familiar
2 Illuminator Trait (Also makes it a Class Skill)
2 Silver Tongue Alternate Racial Trait
=
21

You can use your other trait slot for two world magic to get Enhanced Diplomacy on your list for an At Will +2 to Diplomacy.

The scary part about this path is that you're still a fully functional sorcerer and that Diplomacy is an incredibly useful skill rather than basically throwing away points on Alchemy or Perform (unless you're a bard).

The Exchange

Scroll to the expert section
Do you think I could gain the "skilled" NPC boon somehow?

The Exchange

Profession (Sailor): take 12 with +23
5 20 Wis
3 Skill Focus
2 Mwk tool (Profession: Sailor)
1 Competence (Ioun Stone[200 gp])
1 Skill Rank
3 Class Skill
3 Half-Elf with Improved Day Job feat
4 Half-Elf with Child of the Sea racial trait (Human and Dwarf get +2, if this trait isn’t allowed)
1 Trait (there are multiple possible ones, but none that grant +2)
2 Trait: Patient Calm (Faith — taking 10 gives result of 12 instead on Profession[Sailor])

The Exchange

Kenji Elindir: I can't really rely on a 5pp boon because I won't have 5pp for 2/3 of my first level (assuming slow progression). It would be cool if I retrained to your sorcerer for my second level onwards though.

Silver Crusade 3/5

Since you are building this for level 1, beware that you won't be able to get the ioun stone until you have 5 Fame.

The Exchange

Ah yes. I forgot that cheap wondrous items weren't Always Available. The totals in the OP are correct now b/c I gain +1 from Prodigy traded for Improved day job, then lost 1 from th lack Ioun Stone.

Silver Crusade 2/5 * Venture-Agent, Florida—Longwood

@Covert Operator

Are you planning on going slow track to maximize money gained? Also the Astrolabe in the APG is the masterwork tool for sailing. The trait "Riverfolk (River Kingdoms)" from the Inner Sea Primer grants a +2 bonus to profession (sailor).

Here's one for a Seer

Profession (Fortune-teller): take 12 with +19
5 20 Ability Score
3 Skill Focus
2 Mwk Fortune-telling Deck
1 Competence (Ioun Stone[200 gp])
1 Skill Rank
3 Class Skill
3 Human/Half-elf Improved Day Job feat
1 Trait (there are multiple possible ones, but none that grant +2...yes I "copy and pasted" Sailor...Although the regional traits are good Varisian Wanderer gives a +1 and makes it a class skill. Brevoy Bandit doesn't give a +1 but allows you to pick a stat other then wisdom for any profession)
2 Trait: Patient Calm (Faith — taking 10 gives result of 12 instead on Profession[fortune-teller])

The Exchange

Nice!
yeah, I'll be planning slow. So far the bard earns the most money on average.
Thanks for the heads-up about Riverfolk.
We've gotta remove the Ioun stone from both estimations, because it needs 5 fame.
Also IIRC a Tarot Deck is a Mwk fortune-telling deck, costs 100gp.

Shadow Lodge

Reread Brevoy bandit, it says in addition to wisdom, allowing a half elf with 18 Con to get a +4 from a trait, bringing the total in Profession (Sailor) on the half elf without the ioun stone to +25, which with taking 12 is 37

The Exchange

Apparently there's two versions of Astrolabe, APG and UE
[100 gp]APG is as you say, a mwk tool for Know: Geo, Survival, and Prof: Sailor
[1000 gp]UE grants no bonus to skills, but lets you use Int instead of Wis on Survival
[500 gp]UE Sextant says it can be combined with Astrolabe to grant a +4 bonus on survival to avoid getting lost.

Do you think I could combine APG Astrolabe with UE sextant for the +4 bonus?

At which point the trait allowing you to take 12 isn't doing anything for you. You could use that trait slot for something else.

The bonus for the sextant is a specific bonus, so it won't apply to Day Job rolls.

The Exchange

Brevoy Bandit looks very good!
I couldn't have 20 Wis and 18 Con though
18 Wis and 16 Con is possible, so that would be +2 total from the trait (-1 Wis reduction, +3 Con bonus). This +2 is better than Patient Calm b/c I can use shirt reroll (roll twice and take higher is an effective bonus of 4.33).

Shadow Lodge

With the 2014 paizo con boon you can get +5 on day jobs when the scenario has atleast one encounter in Egypt Orision.

Silver Crusade 2/5 * Venture-Agent, Florida—Longwood

There is a "Fortune-teller's Deck" that can be purchased cheaper then a Harrow deck.

It's on page 186 of the APG and 77 in UE. There are 3 levels regular deck 1gp no bonus, quality deck 25gp +1 bonus, mw deck 50gp +2 bonus.

Scarab Sages 4/5

Does the harrow deck give a bonus? Some of the traits mentioned give a free harrow deck.
EDIT: I was confusing it with Harrow Born, which gives a free Harrow deck and a +1 Init.

Silver Crusade 2/5 * Venture-Agent, Florida—Longwood

Technically, no, the fortune telling deck is the "tool" the harrow deck is flavor....even though in Golarion they are the same thing....for a home game though I would rule that the Harrow Deck is a MW Fortune-teller's deck.

Are you using the Savant trait from the Faction Guide? If so, last I checked it was not PFS legal.
