Tieflings, Aasimars and Other Races

This topic has been broached in several other threads, but we've yet to receive any official campaign ruling, so perhaps it deserves a thread of its own.

Both Blood of Angels and Blood of Fiends contain sidebars discussing hybrids whose non-outsider side isn't human. In both cases, the answer is that, from a flavor perspective, Tieflings and Aasimars can be born of any humanoid race and a fiend or a celestial. Mechanically, however, the only impact is that the resulting PC shares the size of their Prime Material parent.

So here's the question: what, if any, of this is legal for PFS? Neither sidebar appears in the additional resources, but that's no surprise, as that page is "a specific list of Paizo Publishing products and the equipment, traits, deities, spells, feats, and classes contained within that are legal for play[...]", and these sidebars contain none of those listed game elements. This rule has been expanded unofficially, though, with the addition of more familiars, summons, etc, so it's entirely possible that the sidebars are intentionally not legal for PFS. If that is the case, are players allowed to create Tieflings of a non-human heritage, even without a mechanical impact? If so, one could presumably only pick a parent from the PFS-legal races, but, once more, we have no campaign ruling.

It actually has been stated before on these boards somewhere, but the only "tieflings" and "aasimar" allowed in PFS are what you would call half-human. No small race tieflings/aasimars.

Thanks kindly for the ruling!

It's a shame, really, that the mortal heritage of Tieflings is always human. I'd make a halfling / Tiefling Hellknight, just to watch the reaction among the paranobility in Cheliax.

wow... I would love that.

I'm doing a Halfling working to Hellknight now. Running him as a "happy servent race", "household retainer" type. and getting on the Andoran PCs nerves, "While I was on watch, I polished your boots while you were sleeping last night sir, and I'll have breakfast up strait away. Will you be wanting Coffee, or Jouice with your grewl this morning sir?"

Doing it as a Tiefling/Halfling would be even better! I would totally steal that. Wait, can I add a little Abissile or Infernal bloodline Sorcerer... hmmm. Let me go check into that.

Thanks Chris!

Sorry, following still isn't clear (to me, at least).

Are we allowed to have 1/2 Elf or 1/2 Tengu Aasimars? No mechanical effects whatsoever, just flavour differences?

If the answer is yes, are we also allowed 1/2 Catfolk Aasimars? Again, no mechanical effects, just flavour?

You'd probably get the same disdain that the human tieflings would get. Chelaxians think after all that ALL tieflings are fit only to be spat on for the most part.

And halflings are slaves. So a half-halfling tiefling would be the lowest of the lows, right?

ok, so only medium aasimars and tieflings are legal.
can this be added to the FAQ for ARG or blood of fiends/angels? since most forum rulings aren't well publicized or enforced until they go into a FAQ.

pls. for my player today that sat down and had no idea this had come up already, and had her small celestial oracle that can go into dungeons character concept stomped on.

because until its in an FAQ, i'm not sure whether to enforce it and say she can't play a small aasimar oracle of nature, or let her run it until it appears in the ARG faq, or whether Brock's forum ruling on it is all the mention this will get.

ps, to the boon writers out there:
can there be a boon out there for small aasimar and tiefling in the future!? i'd kill someone's next of kin to play a half-goblin aasimar.

Incorrect. Only Human derived asimars and tieflings are legal.

Medium only. I will get it added when I have time. Not sure why not being able to take small size, but the rest of her character is legal, is considered stomping on her concept.
