Still trying to build that dream monk. Just wondering if I've overlooked any options that allow monks other than Four Winds to get Elemental Fist before over halfway into their careers, so that they can start getting the flavor of the genie fighting styles earlier.
Y'know, so Flowing Monks might be able to use Djinni or Marid styles, Monks of the Sacred Mountain might be able to use Shaitan styles, and so forth. Is there some workaround hidden away somewhere that I'm not seeing? Or is Four Winds the only game in town?
Four Wind's Aspect Master is kind of a severe moodkiller for me personally. For this monk concept at least.

I had forgotten about that one. Looking it up again reminded me why: requires STR 15. Especially hurts if you're wanting a DEX > STR (and non-dumpstatted) monk. That and Flowing Monks are locked out completely.
Thanks though. It's still a useful option for plenty of other folks looking for a workaround.

Thank you, I missed that.
Now that I've said that...WTF? Why did they feel the need to do that?| Saint Caleth |
Well, considered with the fact that you can't stack Master of Many Styles and Monk of the Four Winds, it is probably because they really don't like the Master of Many Styles being able to get Elemental Fist before mid-high levels.
Actually, I just noticed that a Master of Many Styles can take Dragon Style as their 1st bonus feat, Dragon Ferocity as their 2nd and then take Elemental First at lvl 3. That is pretty quick, and you even get the benefits of the Monk of the Four Winds as well, which actually seems like a pretty decent monk.

Naturally. My followup question is, why the hell not?
My guess is that they don't want MoMS monks getting the genie styles too early...so see my question again. :)Actually, I just noticed that a Master of Many Styles can take Dragon Style as their 1st bonus feat, Dragon Ferocity as their 2nd and then take Elemental First at lvl 3. Nope...not if they can't ignore the prereqs on Elemental Fist. Because one of those prereqs is BAB +8.

Probably because they just wanted to cut down on crazy archetype stacking, which you basically have to do on the monk. It is just too obvious a synergy.

Special: Taking this feat allows you to qualify for the Elemental Fist feat even if you do not meet that feat’s prerequisites. If you do not meet that feat’s prerequisites, you must choose one of the damage types that feat offers, and you can use only that damage type with your Elemental Fist attacks until you meet the feat’s normal prerequisites. A monk with this feat can use Elemental Fist as if he were a monk of the four winds.
Actually Dragon Ferocity lets you ignore the prerequisites of Elemental Fist, but you can only use a single energy type until you meet those prerequisites. As an extra, you get the damage bumps of a Monk of the Four Winds.
I am going to noodle around with a Master of Many Styles/Qigong Monk using this route to basically get the Monk of the Four Winds archetype for free. I bet that Elemental Fist and Dragon Style bonus damage work through a Ki Focus weapon as well. Basically the only downside is that you have to wait to get Crane Style.

The unarmed fighter gets one style feat without prereq, too. So as a human MoMS2/unarmed fighter 1 you could have a lot style feats at level3.
If you are contend to have elemental fist at level3 you could go
Human feat: dodge
Level1 feat: crane style
MoMS1: Drangon style
MoMS2: Dragon ferocity
UF1:crane wing
Level 3 feat: Elemental fist

The master of many styles archetype allows you to select elemental fist or a style feat as a monk bonus feat.
You can ignore the prerequisites for the elemental fist feat if you select it as a bonus feat, but you may not ignore elemental fist as a prerequisite of style feats that you select as monk bonus feats.
So you can take elemental fist as your bonus feat at 1st level, but you may not Shaitan Style as your bonus feat without having the elemental fist feat.

That...makes so much more sense now. Thank you. :)
