Is there going to be another superstar contest this year? if not, then when?

From what I recall and have been told by other posters , it will be sometime after the RPG comes out next aug.

We expect to have an announcement regarding the next RPG Superstar within the next few weeks.

Scarab Sages

sweet, I hope my effort this year will be better.

Scarab Sages

Cool. I may actually try this year. And if not, well everyone else's stuff makes great content for my own use in games.

I hope there's another round. RPG Superstar is what got me hooked on these boards.

Ditto here. I started my daily Paizo-lurking habit with RPG Superstar. Bring it on!

I strongly suggest potential Superstars start sharpening their pencils....

What if we only write in pen!?!? Or on the computer?!?! Are you saying that only people who write with a pencil can participate in the RPG Superstar contest?!?!?!?

Scarab Sages

Maybe Erik wants us to engage in Thunderdome Battle Royale No.2: Extra Leaded. ;)

Indeed I believe that that is exactly what he is saying, Sebastian. And what's more, those with illegible handwriting will be AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED. (Paizo had too many entries last time round, so they're trying to thin the field out, early, on this one.)

Whether or not they will allow lawyers to dictate their entries to their legal secretaries is not yet clear.

<assume many smiley face emoticons have been inserted here>

Oh, and smurf!

Spoiler:
Smurf again!

If you're on the fence about entering, take the plunge and do it. Competing in last year's contest was one of the high points of the year, and the feedback from the judges was absolutely invaluable. The next lucky alternate making it into the contest could be YOU.

Well, I think I will take the plunge this year (I didn't last year). I've been doing a bit more writing in general this year, and although I have a lot of stuff to write in the next month, putting this on the list will only get the creative juices flowing.

I'M GONNA DO IT!!!

Shadow Lodge

Definitely entering this year. I look forward to it :)

Ah, time to go look for those comments made about wondrous items...this year I will enter a coin with luck-related powers, maybe something connected to prophesying, yeah! Victory will be mine!

I'm guessing the contest won't start with a wondrous item this year.

Since we´re on the subject again... I didn´t try last year´s Superstar because it mentioned you could not work on the gaming industry... well, I´m Lead Content Designer of a Space Sim MMO under development. When I mentioned it to James a few months ago, he was unsure of if that would right me out of the contest or not, since its not an RPG neither is it print

So, here is the question: does my current job in the computer game industry excludes me from RPG Superstar?

Thanks in advance!

You're ok—it's the RPG hobby gaming industry we're talking about.

Excellent! Now all I need is to actually reread what I write (and not right) in english, and my plan will be fullfiled!

::goes sharpen pencils to vorpalness::
"Wait! But shouldnt pencils be piercing? Vorpal is for slashing!"
::slashes incorporeal voice's head off with the vorpal pencil::
"Slashes an incorpo...?"
Shush!

Ok... I'll stop now...

Pencil of Punctuation would be better

I suspect that the time is not right for an answer to this yet, but i will ask anyway, the nice people can only say they are not ready to give details yet.

So, the question is. Will the first round be magic items again?

We'll announce the theme of the first round when we announce the contest.

So I suppose the question is: What ruleset are we designing in? PF is still in beta-testing, so do we go with 3.5 rules?

This season of RPG Superstar is Pathfinder RPG all the way. See the FAQ. (Look for "What rules system do designs in this contest use?")

Because you think you'll probably the only one trying this stunt again? ;)

I think that i'll try something more mature this year (Desna's butterfly was too cute I assume). How about Urgathoa's stomach?

Lol; when i read this I thought it might be about all the pbp rpg threads that we have running on this awesome sight; some guys play multiple games; some guys run multiple games; thought maybe somebody read them all and would hand out Kudos to good game content or most games played or most games run or little neat titles for our avatars about it for Xmas; ah; well.

PBP Superstar? Complete with awesomest DM, awesomest player and most insanely over-worked DM categories?

Be cool to have 10 or so categories; to spread it around; hehe; just sounds like a fun thing to do
