Jaru finishes his summoning, calling a hyena into the fray - but neither he nor his fanged friend are able to damage the scorpion.
Noor has better luck, as her falchion carves a deep gash in the chitinous hide - ichor freely flowing from it.

Jaru's canine assistance damages the beast, though his crossbow bolt does not fly true.
Despite being gripped tightly in the arachnid's claw, Setesh lashes out in bestial fury. Claw and fang strike home and the creature collapses in death throes. You would still hit even with grapple penalties

Noor swings at the scorpion facing her, though is unsuccessful.
Bas'rac plants his fists to the ground and utters words that make his form swell in size as before when facing the Gnoll unchosen.
Tarik tries to free himself from the scorpion's clutches, but cannot squirm free. 1d2 ⇒ 2 points of strength lost, and another DC 17 Fort save please
The western scorpion squeezes Tarik in it's claw...

I think that brings Tarik to zero?
The eastern scorpion attacks Noor again...

Jaru channels the power of healing excluding the 3 scorpions.
channel 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
Shazzam!! I just healed the CRAP out of y'all.

Tarik Veihess |

Tarik screams in agony as the scorpion practically snaps him in twain. Jaru's wave of healing energy arrives as Tarik's world is going black, bringing his vision back to him. "Damn you, beast! Let me free!"
Tarik struggles valiantly, dearly hoping he can escape.
EDIT: I can't cast that spell, cause I'm grappled, oops. Going back to the escape!
Grapple Escape:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Noor lays her scorpion low with a massive blow of her greatsword severing one claw entire.
Jaru's beast manages to snare another mouthful of scorpion before dissipating.
Bas'rac lunges for the smooth skinned beast, but badly mis-times his grappling lunge and cannot hold the beast.
Tarik unsuccessfully attempts to free himself.
The lone surviving scorpion stands up in place a moment, claws clicking before dropping Tarik and turning tail to skitter away from the group. Withdraw action to 100ft away

Setesh Bantling |

Round 4:
17/25 hp, AC 23/11/22, CMD 19, Mutagen(Strength), Shield.
Setesh breathes a sigh of relief when he feels the holy energy of Nethys wash over him, and his spirits are buoyed-up even further when Noor lays low one scorpion, and the other retreats.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23.
He then frowns.
"We may have more incoming; I can here a high-pitched chittering sound out across the sand..."

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

You are able to note that the tracks lead off Northerly...the same direction that the chittering seemed to come from. Would need a Survival check to follow

Noor El'Harkon |

Noor's eyes flash for moment. "We are guarding the camels." But then she takes a deep breath. "They are our lifeline. If no attack is imminent than yes, let us go investigate. Bas'rac will need to keep a firm hand on the leads to again secure them once we find trouble again."
If no attack is evident, she will start to follow the escaping scorpion trail.
Survival +1 for Track -> 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Tarik might like a bit of healing before you continue ;)
Assuming that goes well...
Setesh is able to follow the track Northwards for a while before it trends around to come roughly from the direction that the wayfinder was pointing. Noor, one more Survival check for following the trail please

Jaru Toth |

Sheesh, I just healed you. how far are you down?
Jaru calls the wounded near as his outflung hands suddenly glow with positive energy.
channel 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Jaru points out the fleeing big scorpion's tracks. "Tarik, your friend is headed the same direction."

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

After another hour or two spent following the scorpion tracks, Bas'rac stops and squints into the distance. "There, be wary" pointing at a squat structure protruding from the sand. It looks to be a small stone shelter, with an aperture maybe 10ft across facing your direction.

Setesh Bantling |

Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12.
Setesh regards the structure with open distrust.
"If Whomever, or whatever, was controlling those scorpions is within, we should probably ready ourselves for the inevitable."
I assume buffing time is available? :-)

Noor El'Harkon |

Perception -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
[b]"How one could live with scorpions is a mystery that I know we will not like the answer to. I would guess more worshipers of the Beast."
She has her sword out and again calls on additional protection.
arcane failure 20% 1d100 ⇒ 65 1/4 spells left
In the strange light of the sun off the sand she could almost swear she saw a dragon tail coil itself protectively around her. But in the blink of an eye that image is gone.

Tarik Veihess |

Forgot to make second Fort Save.
Fortitude:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Tarik struggles to his feet, thanking Jaru once more. "I think tomorrow I shall prepare a shielding spell for myself. I cannot be such a drain on your abilities Jaru." Tarik flexes his arm, feeling the weakness in himself. "That thing's venom has left me somewhat weakened, but I think I shall be alright for now. Let us move onwards."
Just trying to roleplay what I suppose someone being crushed in a scorpion claw would feel like. Up to 19/28 for now, so we're good.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Bas'rac accepts your intent to go to the underground structure but leaves you with a warning "I can feel that there is something beyond merely animals within.... be cautious, be very cautious...."
As you approach the entrance you can see that you are presently alone and there is nothing untoward within view. Beyond the structure's threshold there is a tunnel that twists downwards at a gentle slope. Upon the walls within the structure are a crude painting of a crab with a mouth upon it's back. There is a flicker of torchlight coming from deeper within the structure.

Jaru Toth |

religion 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
perception 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Jaru's attention is drawn to the painting- "This is a very primitive symbol for Rovagug the Destroyer. I mean Nethys has his destructive aspect as well, but we're usually a bit more balanced in our approach and have more flair."

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Setesh and Tarik can still roll and react to the Perception spoiler, but moving on...
The tunnel within the cave mouth slopes gently downwards in a spiral. The religious iconography upon the walls continues, though still remaining crude. As you walk you spy small scorpions scurrying over the walls, roof and floor.
After a few minutes traversing the spiral, you spy that the corridor widens into a chamber ahead. It is dug from rough hewn stone and roughly forty feet square. There is a single exit on the opposite side of the chamber. Torches burn in sconces in the corners of the room, casting flickering shadows throughout the room.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Crossing the room without being challenged, the exit on the other side leads to a circular corridor surrounding a central room - though any entrance to the room is currently blocked from view.
Stealthy or brusque in approach? - Stealthy needs rolls

Setesh Bantling |

Heh. Well, we can *try* the stealthy approach; we are just not particularly good at it ;-)
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9.
Stealth: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (19) - 3 = 16.
