Welcome! Between a post in this thread tomorrow and a couple of PMs, I hope to have all the characters gathered for a meeting with sheriff Llewellyn that will provide us with a starting point and a chance for in character introductions early this week.

Male Human (Astoran) Knight | Parry 7, Toughness 9 | 1 Wounds | 2 Bennies

Cool! Great to be here!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to it.

Nice! Thanks for including me in your game. Can't wait to get started.

female Half-orc Adventurer/ Disgraced Pit-fighter [HP12/12 | AC 17/ 14 tch/ 10fl | BAB 1 | FT 4 R 6 WL 3]

good to be on board and ready to go!!

Checking in, thanks for the select.

HP 53/53 | AC 19 (T 15, FF 16) | CMD 23 | F +9 | R +6 | W +6 | Init +3 | Per +10

I'm glad to have made the cut. I'm a little sorry you didn't dig my other submission though, though I can understand why. Not everybody likes a touch of Sci-fi in their fantasy. When I had finished up making Prime 691, I was actually a lot more interested in the character than with Rotann.

Anybody want to compile what direction are group members are headed so we know group composition? Rotann is a future Druid, or possibly Ranger.

I was thinking Fighter for Mokrim, but a level or two of Rogue wouldn't be entirely out of character. Not sure if I'll use archetypes.

Male Human (Astoran) Knight | Parry 7, Toughness 9 | 1 Wounds | 2 Bennies

I'd rather not divulge too much about Kearan's path (hoping for it to be a bit of a surprise), but suffice to say he'll be combat-worthy with a smattering of spellcasting (divine, so he can still wear armor).

Male Human Adventurer 1

Hi every one, glad to be included.
As for my path, I'm planing for sorcerer/Dragon disciple

Ninja with possible dips in fighter. Rogue if I can't do ninja.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the line I'd like to qualify for Arcane Archer. That's the dream but whose to say it'll develop that way?

HP 53/53 | AC 19 (T 15, FF 16) | CMD 23 | F +9 | R +6 | W +6 | Init +3 | Per +10

*Bolt* - Ranger?
Caelreth Dho'Eldren - Arcane Archer
Kearan the Short - Fighter/Divine
Merle Rutter - Ninja
Mokrim - Fighter/Rogue
Nial Farnell - Sorcerer/Dragon Disciple
Rotann - Druid/Ranger

Looks like a pretty good mix, though light on arcane, especially if Farnell goes Dragon Disciple. Healing is of course going to be a long term issue, but at least Rotann and Kearan should eventually be able to use wands of CLW.

Haiku: (Love that name by the way.) I wanted to ask for a clarification on your set up that may affect the way I go with Rotann in the future. You stated that spell caster levels would be retroactive back to level 1 Adventurer, but I was curious about other level dependent abilities as well, such as Animal Companions and Wild Shape. Will these be delayed, starting at level 1 with the new class, or retroactive? I'm sure others would like to know as well for things like Sneak attack value, Bloodline abilities, and so on.

female Half-orc Adventurer/ Disgraced Pit-fighter [HP12/12 | AC 17/ 14 tch/ 10fl | BAB 1 | FT 4 R 6 WL 3]

@ Rotann :You left out the pit-fighter in your sum up on classes. I would say we should get past the 1st 3 lvls of adventurer and see who is actually left to continue on to there presumptive roles. :) Character death does occur lol then its back to AdV 1.
But other than that Brine is going toward a knife fighter/ninja type.

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

Bolt is going whereever seems appropriate based on whats needed and what events occur. Ranger seems the logical choice but leaning rogue as well. Could go wizard or cleric too.( prolly not the last 2 but maybe. i've played a few ranger/clerics they can be fun)Could even go gunslinger depending on the world we find ourselves in.shrug. I don't plan too far ahead and still manage to not have too gimped of characters.8D
Also agree with Brine, hopefully this lasts a long time but...

DM, I left the link between Dashiel Armistead and Mokrim vague in case there was a problem with a stronger link. If there isn't, Mokrim will take Dashiel's last name. If there is, I'll think of a different last name for him.

Hush, little baby, don't say a word; And never mind that noise you heard. It's just the beasts under your bed, In your closet, in your head....

I suppose the lack of response means you don't need more players. Good gaming guys, see yas!

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

He did say to be patient, as he's new to DMing Pbp. hopefully it is just a small RL issue and we'll get to play soon.
A young man drags a small travois across the town market. On it are some ragged furs, a small boar and a rack of antlers. He stops in front of the blacksmiths shop and carries the antlers into the open forge area, to haggle with the smith.

Whoops, totally posted in the wrong thread! >_<* That was meant for a different game. Please ignore.

"Huh? Who was that? Never seen him 'round Piravel before."

PMs are going out to everyone now - bolt is dead one about a minor RL issue putting me a bit off schedule, but we should have everyone squared away with a reason to meet in Piravel at the respected Belching Boar inn for a midday meal to discuss a proposal with Sheriff Llewellyn.

Are you gonna open up the gameplay thread now, or do you want our responses by PM?

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

Yay we're starting. chomps at the bit.

These initial responses will be by PM since a couple of individuals have somewhat different reasons for attending this meeting than the bulk of the group, and may have slightly different information going in. Once most everyone has checked in I will open the gameplay thread with Llewellyn giving everyone a rundown of his important business.

As one of the sheriff's scouts, I'm pretty much set and ready to go. Consider me checked in. :-)

Quesion about the setting? Does this world have night? You said it lines the interior surface of a sphere with the sun at the centre, which would mean perpetual daylight. However, I can picture the star being a pulsar type that rotates once every 24 hours, creating a day and night, despite the odd arrangement.

There is indeed a day/night cycle. Gameplay thread to open shortly.

Male Human Adventurer 1

The game thread is up. Come join me, there's still food left.

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

I ran a Dyson sphere campaign once before called Sfaere( pronounced sphere). the "Sun" was a portal to the center of the elemental realm of fire, with a giant concave disc circling it. that created the day night sequence and heat. However there was no true sunlight so vampires and wraiths were a major power. see ya in the gameplay thread.

Heh. wordy 1st post but i wanted to get his description out there.

FYI, Haiku gave me the thumbs up to switch to my other proposed character. Prime will be heading for Wizard eventually, and will be taking the place of Rotann, my Adventurer heading for Druid.

I'm at GMT+1, so I'll be going offline to sleep in about half an hour. I hope I don't get left too much in the dust when the Sheriff arrives!

female Half-orc Adventurer/ Disgraced Pit-fighter [HP12/12 | AC 17/ 14 tch/ 10fl | BAB 1 | FT 4 R 6 WL 3]

I am posting US time zones EST in the evenings myself. i have no access to puter during the day and phone posting is just a pain n the a$$.

I'm GMT+8 so I'm used to waking up to 20 posts each morning.

Male Human (Astoran) Knight | Parry 7, Toughness 9 | 1 Wounds | 2 Bennies

I myself am also in US Easter Standard Time, usually in evenings and afternoons. I also have the occasional wake-up to tons of posts.

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

Central std time here. I check for posts in the afternoon and evenings.
I'm enjoying the banter and RPing so far, looks to be a fun game. Tho I must admit it requires a lot of patience. I really miss table top gaming.

Join the club. I DM in real life, so all I get to play is PBP. Sooooo slow, even with a good DM.

male human Adventurer level 1/Hp:12,Init:+9, spd 35, ATT:+4,AC15t13ff12,CMD17,CMB+4, F:+3W:+4F:+3

I DM'd most of the time back in Joplin, MO. Since moving to Kansas, the gaming scene has completely evaporated. I'd take always having to DM over NO gaming at all.8D

DMing's also fun, I agree. It's just that I DM that game in real life, and then six on the boards. It can get kinda chore-like sometimes, but I would feel bad if I just quit them and left the players hanging.

Male Human Commoner 2/ Philosopher 2/ Gamer 5/ Writer 5

Yeah, GMing isn't always a hoot and a half. I've been working with some friends to get a group going--we've had one successful adventure so far, and now it looks like I'll be getting some fresh meat (read: new recruits)--and I, as the only one with much experience, am GMing. My selfish dream is that one of them will rise up and take on the mantle some day, but I don't think that'll happen any time soon.

female Half-orc Adventurer/ Disgraced Pit-fighter [HP12/12 | AC 17/ 14 tch/ 10fl | BAB 1 | FT 4 R 6 WL 3]

Ive been roleplaying since '87 and been roleplaying with the same group of friends for almost 18 yrs. I just picked this up as a fill in between table sessions which get a bit obscure now that i have kids lol.

its taken some getting used to but the pbp is actually a great way to work on roleplay and thinking through your characters motivations.

Posting from New York (EST or GMT-5). It's nice to see other people in my timezone. My other games include folks from all over the globe which is probably my favorite thing about PbP. That and the availability of it. Like Brine, my tabletop games have been cut a short since my son was born. :-)

I actually prefer online gaming to tabletop, probably because I'm a little shy, and it takes me a minute to formulate what I want to say properly, which isn't really that feasible in a live game. I like being able to characterize my PCs as though they were in a novel, and do things with them I'd never dare in a face-to-face game. I like the way you can tell people more about how they think without belaboring the point. Admittedly, I still DM more than I play, though, and I've been playing since the late 80's. But I've been playing online with the same people, more or less, for 10 years this year. I love how we can be from anywhere, too. :)

Male Human (Astoran) Knight | Parry 7, Toughness 9 | 1 Wounds | 2 Bennies

PbP definitely has major advantages to it, mostly what Mokrim just said--really formulating the ideas, figuring out what exactly you want to do and say, and the ability to describe it all. On PbP, people can just skim over your post if it's not that important and they don't care; but for those people who are actually interested, you get to really tell a story, make the character come alive, which is beautiful.

At the table, it's hogging the spotlight, and people get a little annoyed if you go on for half a minute about just what's running through your character's head.

The multiculturalism is also really neat to be a part of, and probably the most incredible thing about PbP to a teenager on the US East Coast.

I love PBP, but I still miss the tabletop. I've been itching to try a real time game on Maptool, but I'm having trouble finding one that matches up with my timezone.
