Anyone want to adventure in Ravenloft? The world controlled by the Dark Powers sends out it's mists to attract adventurers.
It would be a campaign suited for Halloween. Especially since I'd like to scare you all.

I assume those of us who have DMed I6 and tons of 2ndEd Ravenloft over the decades can apply? I know the story and Flavor by heart but the individual encounters, especially once we're in the castle, are all long forgotten.

I'm just hoping I can do the module justice. I got the 25th Anniversary edition, that one is signed by Tracy and Laura Hickman. I'll be getting I6 soon.
I know we're still in 'interest check' but, still, I'm thinking of character concepts for an application. Can't help myself.
(It's so odd, I'm always thinking of DMing a Ravenloft campaign rather than running a PC. It's kinda funny thinking the other way.)
Of course you haven't dictated parameters or guidelines yet, so no Crunch is forthcoming, and everything may have to be thrown back to the drawing board. But maybe....
If The Mists take us from Golarion and we're together as a group ahead of time then these are all moot points. (Taldor would be a good place to make a PC.) If, on the other hand, The Mists take us from other places and we PCs don't know each other until we bump into each other in the fog -- or However we start:
A (Dragonlance world of Ansalon) who, though he's LG is not at all like Sturm, has a dark mood, a depressive soul, a pall that either hangs around him (like an Oracle's Curse) or maybe even exudes from him. He'd never have confidence in his Smite ability, always be nervous about his spells -- not a coward, just not hopeful. Like a man shaking his fist at Lovecraftian horrors.
....Depending on what you're planning, that kind of defeatest, bleak nihilist, resigned to being stuck in a Call of Cthulhu campaign despite his Paladin abilities, sounds fitting and fun.
A (Greyhawk) who may technically be LN but has ruthless, ambitious-for-magic tendencies that would have pushed him more LE if he weren't whisked to Ravenloft. Once in The Domain of Dread, though, I think that LN-to-LE gets turned around real quick and all the sudden he's reexamining his lifestyle choices, maybe even going from LN-to-LG, even.
Or some kind of Gish: A Magus with an Archetype, maybe a Bloodrager -- or even a Sorcerer. I think a Sorcerer could be great in a Ravenloft game.
But let's see what the DM sets as character guidelines. And what others may want to play.
