Understanding Unleashed Psyche

You call on the depths of your mind and let psychic power flood through. Your Psyche remains Unleashed for 2 rounds or until your fall unconscious, whichever comes first. You can't voluntarily quell your unleashed psyche. While your Psyche is Unleashed, the following effects occur.

1. You're constantly surrounded by the visual manifestation of your psychic magic.
2. When you cast a damaging spell using your psychic spellcasting, you gain a status bonus to its damage equal to double the spell's rank. This applies only to the initial damage the spell deals when cast, and an individual creature takes this damage only once per spell, even if the spell would damage that creature multiple times.
3. You can use actions that have the psyche trait.

After your unleashed psyche subsides, your mind must recover from the strain of channeling its full power. You can't use Unleash Psyche again for 2 rounds, and you're stupefied 1 for 2 rounds.

Question 1. What defines "your psychic spellcasting"? Is it the psychic trait? Or is it any spell in your spell repertoire? You have spells and cantrips from the occult tradition, and there is no "psychic" tradition. Further, can you use occult scrolls and/or wands, and gain the bonus damage?

Question 2. Item 3 say "you can use", not you can only use psyche trait actions while your psyche is unleashed. However, the psyche reference says, "Psyche: Your psyche must be unleashed to use abilities that have the psyche trait, and they end automatically when your unleashed psyche subsides." The actions that have the psyche trait are basically the actions given by your subconscious mind chosen - Calculate Threats, Fade into Daydreams, Recall the Teachings, Restore the Mind. Does this mean that you can only use them while unleashed? It should be noted that those actions have both psyche and psychic traits.

Thanks for any clarifications or thoughts.

1. Any spellcasting you get from the psychic class. The ability to use wands and staves is something you get as part of 'psychic spellcasting' so should be affected. Spells you recieve from your ancestery would not be included (unless you pick up Ancestral Mind).

2. Correct you can only use abilities with the psyche trait while unleash pyche is active.

Yes.

Wait, what? No? I never included any items in '<class> spellcasting'. Yes, you use your spellcasting. No, it doesn't come from your class, it comes from an item.

Plain English: You can (are able to) use actions with the psyche trait; you do not have to (can only or must) use actions with the psyche trait. A psychic with their psyche unleashed can use actions with the psyche trait or not as they wish.

Actions with the psyche trait are still not able to be used without unleashing psyche first.

Also, you can get more with class feats.

I took gathered lore subconscious mind and other than a vague reference to "heighten power of your psyche", I didn't see anything that seem to imply you needed to be unleashed. Two of the other clearly referenced unleashed. Further, I missed the whole psyche and psychic traits. So I haven't been doing that. I've just been using my "recall the teachings" as great 1 action option.

Unfortunately, the whole setup and use of unleashed psyche makes this a much less useful action/ability. I've been avoiding using unleashed as being stupefied 1 regularly seems like a bad idea. *Sigh*

But back to items and unleashed. If I have a wand of force barrage, can I gain the benefits of being unleashed, e.g. 1d4 + 1 + 2 per missile if hitting multiple targets. Does it need to be in my spell repertoire or is the requirement to be an occult spell, or does it not work at all because I'm not really providing the spell the item is.

This is less of a rules comment and more of an advice comment, but a psychic should probably view unleashing their psyche as a "finisher" tactic to "nova" in the last two rounds of a fight. Rather than being the first thing to do in an encounter or something to do as often as possible.
