Precision Damage, Extra Damage, and Immunities

I'm playing a rogue with a ranged unarmed poison spit attack and equipped with astral handwraps of mighty blows.

So what happens if I spit poison at an off-guard undead creature?

The poison will do 0 damage, obviously, but are they still susceptible to the astral damage? Or are such runes considered rider effects that are dependent on the initial damage in order to work at all?

If the spirit damage goes through, is the precision damage from sneak attack then converted to the spirit damage type? Or is it converted to the poison damage type and thus negated as well?

* They definitely won't take the poison damage that they're immune to.

* There's no particular reason why the precision damage would "jump" from the poison to the spirit damage. So that's also matched by the immunity.

* If the whole ability doesn't have a poison trait, just the main damage, then it's totally clear the spirit damage still happens. Venom Spit for example only has the Nagaji trait, not a poison trait. The spirit damage isn't poison, so it bypasses the immunity.

Now, if the whole ability had the poison trait as well, it might still work, but it would be a GM decision;

When you have immunity to a specific type of damage, you ignore all damage of that type. If you have immunity to a specific condition or type of effect, you can't be affected by that condition or any effect of that type. You can still be targeted by an ability that includes an effect or condition you are immune to; you just don't apply that particular effect or condition.

If you have immunity to effects with a certain trait (such as death effects, poison, or disease), you are unaffected by effects with that trait. An immunity might match both a trait and a damage type (such as electricity). The immunity applies to effects with the trait as well as damage of that type. Some complex effects might have parts that affect you even if you're immune to one of the effect's traits; for instance, a creature immune to death effects wouldn't ignore the poison damage or concealed condition from a toxic cloud spell.

In my specific case, it's the venom glands graft. The item clearly has the Poison trait, but I don't see any such trait on the poison damage.

Just tested it in Foundry, and it looks like it converts the precision damage to poison damage regardless of immunity (which sucks for me).

The glands deal poison as base damage, so sneak attack dealing poison damage is fine. But you should still track Resistances/Weakness/Immunities for property runes separately, so the Astral Rune would still deal it's normal damage.

Agreed with TheFinish here, The immunity to poison does not carry over to the rest. And Precision damage is always the same damage type listed in the attack. So the only way to change it is to change the damage of the attack itself.

Sometimes you are able to make the most of your attack through sheer precision. When you hit with an ability that grants you precision damage, you increase the attack's listed damage, using the same damage type, rather than tracking a separate pool of damage.
