So basically, from how I would rule it, is that Shadow Traces have half of the CURRENT hit points of the base creature, at the time of creating them of course, and their fully healed hit points would be half of the fully healed hit points of the original.
The reason for this is because they would otherwise be nearly unstoppable, since the base creature can dismiss them as a full-round action, then recreate them as an immediate action, basically allowing them to survive indefinitely.
But I'm wondering if I'm misunderstanding that. Maybe their fully healed hit points should just be what they started with, so if the base creature created them after getting injured, then they would also be weakened any time they are created, at least until the base creature heals and recreates the Shadow Traces.
But also, I'm wondering if Shadow Traces can themselves create Shadow Traces. They would of course have half the hit points of the Shadow Trace who created them to start with, meaning they are even easier to defeat, but this could spiral out of control with a really strong creature doing this.
I dunno. I might have to apply the template multiple times, and say each Shadow Trace has the template one less time than their creator, if I want to get a lot of Shadow Traces. That could work and the CR increase for each instance of the template would justify the many Shadow Traces.
Anyways, I just want to create something like the Shadow Clone Jutsu from Naruto, including Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu, but I'm afraid of breaking game balance, so any advice on this would be appreciated.
