Normally I level up using the milestones in the start of each AP book
but this time I wanted to give out XP to see if the players like it more.
According to the book the first milestone is
"The PCs should be 2nd level after rescuing Rhokrag and defeating the Chelaxian loyalists."
So I went through Chapter One and only found 385 XP awarded which I noted as follows:
Storytelling: 30 - Accomplishment
More than half successful: 10 - Accomplishment
Setting out for Saringallow
Draymoor Road: 20 - Encounter
River Crossing: 30 - Encounter
Warehouse Mystery:
Dockside Row: 10 - Accomplishment
Main Warehouse: 30 - Encounter
Riverboat Ambush
Night’s Prize: 35 - Encounter
Securing Supplies => 1 times: 30 - Accomplishment
Securing Supplies => 3 times: 40 - Accomplishment
River Reptiles: 15 - Encounter
Rhokrag’s Rescue
Waterspout Inn: 15 - Encounter
Shore Camp: 20 - Encounter
Witchfire Deck: 20 - Encounter
Captain’s Quarters: 30 - Encounter
Rescuing Rhokrag: 80 - Accomplishment
So even if the party secures the max supplies gaining 40 instead of 30 XP
I come to a total of 385 XP!
I'm missing over 700 XP somewhere.
Now I know I'm probably missing out as I've always used milestones
but can somebody please point out where I've gone wrong?
Cheers

You're giving way too little XP for encounters. I suspect what you're doing is dividing the XP by the number of players. That's not how it works. "Each character gains XP equal to the total XP of the creatures and hazards in the encounter" So in a moderate encounter (80 XP), every player character gets 80 XP from it.

All your encounters give way too little XP. A trivial encounter awards 40 XP, a low encounter awards 60 XP, a moderate encounter awards 80 XP, and a severe encounter rewards 120 XP.
EDIT: Appearently Perses had already answered your question. But it didn't show when I clicked this forum link? Weird.
