Mind controlling innocents (and sometimes framing them for crimes), property destruction (probably in the millions), attempted murder (because we don’t know if the guy she walked in front of a car died), unleashing the Hulk, and that last big act where she caused who know how many accidents and injuries. And not even an “I’m sorry”.
Yes, very flawed.

Exactly, he at least was in custody. And Jean did way more damage than him in the movie. She should have at least been in custody.
Then the could have had an extra scene of a bald dude in a wheelchair rolling up to her cell. Missed opportunity.
As for Hulk - yeah it seems he always gets sidelined. I think because they can only use him in other hero or team movies, not his own (some rights thing).

And because they have a hard time writing why the hulk just doesn't smash puny gods over and over again in team up movies like avengers.
As for not having professor X in the post credit scene, they simply hadn't cast him yet, or had a script for how they were even going to start the X-men movie so that's part of it, and we don't even know if he'll start out bald or not yet.

Yeah, I kind of wish they could write Hulk better for the movies. Although I don’t think the Norton movie was half bad.
They still could have done a scene with Professor X. Just don’t show his face. Back of his head would be sufficient. Then anyone could be sitting in the chair. I hope they don’t start out with Professor X having hair, though. That’s one of those things I disliked about first class.

I hadn't heard that about the difficulty in using Hulk in solo movies. I think that's a shame, because the character has a lot of really interesting stories that work well when he's ostracized and/or on the run.
Yeah, I recall hearing something about it a few years back.
Might have been in a YouTube show. Can’t remember. Anyway, I’m think it’s some kind of stupid rights thing. Before Disney gobbled them up, Marvel gave away rights to everyone it seems.

Universal still has the rights to the Hulk. Only Universal can make solo Hulk movies. Marvel can use the Hulk in MCU movies but only as part of a group, but never as a solo film.

Yes!! That’s what I’d heard! Thanks for remembering it for me! My brain had been slightly preoccupied of late.

Part of the "new" Marvel story outlook with the old comic cannon somewhat ditched.
I thought it was good. Drama with angst, denial, love out of reach and then lost, ironic macguffin(foiled by oily skin, the Vaseline defense), 'canon' cameos. More that the usual "naive good boy" routine.
Villain choice... hmm... not really sold on this due to 'canon'/past X-Men drama but it runs parallel to a Magneto story arc. Jean as an at range dominator... hmm... The usual Spidey Villains are stoopid. Note that Bruce defeats the Hulk(out of Spidey's league).
I thought the macguffin wasn't needed/handled in the way it was for plot & irony.

I’m guessing by macguffin you mean the inhibitor chip? I think they were just using this movie to set the device up for later appearances in Disney X-Men movies.

Yeah, I’m wondering if, in addition to using it as a power dampener, they might try to pull a sort of Suicide Squad thing with it for the Disney X-Men movies. Like modify it to be able to turn on and off remotely, then use it to control mutants and establish Freedom Force.
