Can Proliferating Eyes function across planes or demiplanes?

Liberty's Edge

GM here, last session I was setting up a major scene when one of the players told me that she wanted to cast proliferating eyes on certain NPCs who are pretty obviously up to no good. This has had some pretty big impacts since it accidently spread to a secret boss and so the players aren't going to struggle to find him, but in the mean time they've seen these suspicious NPCs kidnap some friends of theirs and drag them through a portal. I told her that the eyes cut off after the portal and she seemed surprised, so, since the session was nearly over, I told her I'd look into it during the week. (And of course I've procrastinated until the night before the session.)
The portal leads into a demiplane and I have a hard time picturing her being able to connect to the senses of someone in another plane, and this demiplane has some defenses and is supposed to be extremely difficult to get into when uninvited. But the spell description has no mention of any limitations based on distance or location of the target of the spell.
"You can switch between perceiving through your own senses or the vision of any of the eye sensors using a single action, which has the concentrate trait. You always know how many eyes there are and can tell which original eyes budded off to make which new eyes, though you gain no special insight into the identity of the new targets other than what you can glean from spying on them."
(I wasn't sure if this should go in Rules or Advise. Sorry if it's in the wrong spot.)
