FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for GMs)
How do I sign up to GM?
Go to our GM Registration form. Fill out the form and choose which scenario you would like to GM. Please fill out the form for each separate scenario you wish to run.
How many games can I sign up to GM?
You may only GM one table of one special. You may sign up to GM as many other games as you choose, though we ask that you consider what you can reasonably handle while still providing a great experience for your players and completing all games within the given timeframe. Remember, life happens to the best of us, so please do not commit to maximum capacity.
If this will be your first time GMing PbP or you are still learning the ropes, we strongly recommend that you only do one game at a time. It’s more work than it looks.
What do you mean by scenario support?
Paizo will gift you the scenario that you wish to run — if you sign up by our deadline. Not included: APs, Adventures in hardback books (eg:Dark Archives, King Maker Companions), Emerald Spire, or Thornkeep.
If you need scenario support, you must register your game by February 6, 2026.
What if I want to add a game as a GM after the February 6, 2026 Scenario Support Deadline?
That’s fine, you just need to provide your own copy of the adventure.
May I add a game after March 2, 2026, the official start of PBP Outpost IX?
Yes, you may add a game after the official start of Outpost.Though you must still register your game through the GM Registration for tracking purposes as well as finish the game by the end of Outpost. The Outpost HQ team reserves the right to rule that it is too late to begin a game for convention credit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for Players)
How do I sign up to play?
Once we begin to get some submitted games we will create the spreadsheet with all of the games for General Player sign-up on February 9, 2026.This spreadsheet will be posted shortly.
What are the different PBP Lodges?
Will there be boons for Players and GMs?
We expect to be able to offer boons for PFS1, plus increased AcP for PFS2, SFS, and SFS2.
Can I participate if I am new to Play-by-Post?
Certainly! Just let your GMs and Players know. They’ll be glad to help. We also have plenty of resources available to help you prepare, reach out within the appropriate lodge so we know what you need.
When will you open the seats for signup?
We will open up early signup for GMs on February 6, 2026. This is a courtesy for our GMs. GMS, please limit yourself to 1 table of your choice until General Seating is open.
General player signup will open February 9, 2026. Please only sign up for the number of games you can handle. It’s better to enjoy one or two games than to get overwhelmed. Also, please remember other people are excited to play. Even if you are a player who can handle multiple tables, please be considerate and sign up for only a few to begin and allow others time to sign up before you add more.

There will be no multi-table special, but there's still a "Specials GM Deadline" listed.
Is there some kind of Special that isn't a Multi-Table Special, or is that a typo?
Could be something like Bonekeep and such where you need a 4+ Star GM to run?
If that's the case, I might run Bonekeep.
Onward to my 5th star!

The Outpost IX Event Listing spreadsheet is now live!
You can’t sign up for games now, but you can see all the great tables that are being offered. We’ll update the listing every day or two, so keep an eye out.
HERE is the link for the Event Listing sheet
Remember, general signups don’t start until February 9, 2026!

Thank you so much for organizing this!
I'm totally new to Organized Play and Play by Post. I've never even played in a Society adventure- but I'm very excited by the prospect of GMing a Starfinder Society adventure.
Is there anyone who I could speak to if I had questions about the process? Thank you so much!

I would like to GM Bonekeep level 1 for my private/Round Robin group. Am I allowed to do this at a convention? Just list it as a GM's choice table?
I actually might have two spots for other players.
It's a gray area. Games are supposed to be publicly listed and recruited, but as GM Choice you get to use whatever criteria you want (as long as it is disclosed in the recruitment, and doesn't violate org play rules) to select your players.

I can't find #4-00: Ruins of Bonekeep in the list of scenarios for GM signup.
I will have 2 more spots open after GM choice.
Please submit it as Season 0 Silent Tide and I will modify it when it comes in.
Is there any intention to offer a few PFS1e CORE games as well?
It all depends on what GMs want to run.

ANNOUNCEMENT
I have opened up the Event Listing sheet so that GMs can start adding their game details in, such as start dates and server/channel info. This is especially useful for GMs running GM Choice recruitment so you can advertise your recruitment channels now.
Remember, you can advertise your recruitment, but may not seat players until the GM and General Seating dates.
|
I found the original post regarding running Bonekeep through PbP.
PbP Specials, including Bonekeep.
It's nice that there are a few Specials that don't have a table minimum and can be run by any GM at any time.

General Seating now open!
General seating is now open for all players. While there is no limit to the number of games you can sign up for, we do ask that everyone do their best not to overcommit. We also would ask that you not sign up for tons of games at the very beginning, to give everyone the chance to find a seat at a table. Sign up for a few, then wait a day or two to give others the chance.
Remember that the 1 game per character rule still applies to PBP/D games, so no signing up to play in multiple games with the same character.
|
|
One Week To Go!
GMs, with one week to go before Outpost IX officially starts, you should be collecting player information, finalizing your tables, and making sure you have everything ready to go. While you cannot use any game text from the scenario yet, feel free to have your players start introductions and Role Play in the gameplay channels.
|
I just found out about this and most tables are full. Is there a stand-by list sign-up?
You should post in the Flaxseed lodge or Cottonseed lodge (whether you play 1e or 2e) and state that you're looking for a spot at whatever tier you want to play. There is the occasional dropout every once in awhile.
|
|
One month to go!
Okay, maybe a little less.
GMs, we have 4 weeks left in Outpost IX play, which should be plenty of time to wrap up those adventures. Hopefully you are in a good place to finish by the May 12 end date. Some of you have asked about starting new games between now and Nov 26. The general rule is as long as you can reasonably finish by the end date, go for it. Quests, bounties, and other short-form adventures are good candidates here. We will probably stop accepting new games at the 3-week mark just to make sure games finish on time and players aren’t overly rushed into having bad experiences.
|
|
Only 1 Week Left!
GMs, with only 1 week left in Outpost IX play, you should be winding down your tables (assuming you aren’t already finished) and getting them ready for reporting by our HQ crew. Hopefully you are in a good place to finish by the May 12 end date, but if not, please go ahead and mark your tables Ready for Reporting by May 12 so we can wrap up the convention. Then, finish your games as soon as you can. If you need assistance in pushing your game to the finish, please contact your PBP lodge Venture Officers.

When reporting my game on RPG Chronicles, I use the event code listed in the announcement post, right?
Do I also need to report the game on Paizo like I do for my regular PFS games?
If you use the Outpost IX event code in RPGChronicles, you should get a Submit to HQ button on Page 3. That will send the info to HQ who will report the game.

That’s A Wrap!
150 games were registered, 70 GMs ran the games, and hundreds of players joined them. What a great turnout!
Once the last few games get reported, we will be mailing out 50 randomly drawn prize vouchers, so make your offerings to the gods of chance, and may fortune be on your side. Also, at the same time we will be sending out those PF1 boons to the GMs and lucky players.
We want to hear your feedback, so please fill out this feedback form. Let us know what you liked, and how we can improve in the future. This form is anonymous, but if you want us to get back to you, please let us know how (paizo forum message, discord DM, or email).
Thank you all for participating in Outpost IX, and be on the lookout for the next PBP event, Gameday XV, coming this Fall.

Hello, sorry for the question, but I want to report Heroes for Highdelve for the convention, but it does not appear on the rpg chronicles list of adventures.
Yep, that one's an anomaly because the PDF isn't readily available. Feel free to submit it as 00-01 and then send me a DM so I know to report it properly.

Isn't the next event Bridging the Gap 2026? It has a PbP portion, too...

It is an event, certainly. But it is not run by the Online PBP region, unlike Outpost and Gameday.
