Energy mutagen and unarmed

Rules Discussion

So I was recently reading the rules discussion on poison and unarmed strikes, claws etc. This made me wonder about energy mutagen, which also says melee Weapon strike.

It's correct Assuming that energy mutagen does not help out anyone using unarmed strikes fist claw bite in regards to bonus damage?

RaW you are correct. Unarmed strikes are never included in the umbrella of weapon strikes. My GM allowed it to work with unarmed when asked though, as the weapon-only restriction makes no sense for the mutagen.

Do note that somewhat recently two new alchemical items were added that do enhance "unarmed strikes," the Iron Wine and Rainbow Vinegar. Adding fire and acid damage. They are not mutagens and work quite differently, but might be what you are looking for.
